Biden must have said something right.

I support Biden's comments 100%. Aside from the obvious humanitarian issue, Taiwan's independence is absolutely essential for US IT technology going forward.

So, Xi is "irritated"? That's too laughable to laugh at. He's just been put down a notch. Couldn't happen too soon for a zealot who supports Putin.

Bit of a freebie for Xi there. If Covid Zero and his sector crackdowns had finally damaged his popularity, this now gives him a nationalist straw to clutch at.
Taiwan should remember that talk is cheap. The US made promises to Kurdish fighters and to the people of Afghanistan, but bailed on both when it suited them.

When the Kuomintang forces that were fighting with the People's Liberation Army, you could say Taiwan was genuinely China's internal problem. But 73 years have passed since that civil war ended and Taiwan has walked its own political path independent of mainland China. Can one say the Taiwan issue is still China’s own internal affairs?

What is "bound to fail" is CCP!!!

Good on Biden. We cannot sit back and let China attack Taiwan nor Russia attack Ukraine. We will use military force by arms or personnel. No matter what, America must stand up to China now or face a world of forced laws and prison time for speaking out loud.

Don't think that Biden had much choice in his words. Japan, South Korea, the Phillipines have all expressed desire for nuclear weapons sharing, in order to equalise CCP threats. If Biden didn't remove ambiguity on Taiwan military intervention, we will end up with total abandonment of nuclear non-proliferation.
Don't think China is against nuclear proliferation either, they helped NK, Iran, Pakistan get nukes, because anything, anyone that put pressure on the west is a point score for China.
In terms of world peace, China has basically prioritises its own influence over global stability, and Biden has basically said roll the dice.

Taiwan has never been under the Communist rule as the Kuomintang outdated the CCP. It is in fact the CCP which was a separatist breaking away from the ROC.
Envy as being skipped? :) Very few would like to visit China under zero-covid stupidity.

China doesn’t need to invade, take back or reintegrate Taiwan. Up to 10% of positions have links the Triad mafia, which are “Kuomintang” meaning, direct links to the mainland.
The Bamboo Union alone has over 10000 members, just one organization. Things are running smoothly without US intervention.

The USA has chip making technology now thanks to cooperation with South Korea and Japan.
Japan is supplier of the valuable essential trace minerals and elements needed for the manufacture .
Being mined in the Izu and ogasawara areas.
The USA is making plans not to be reliant on Taiwan or China .
It appears as if the USA is instigating conflict between China and Taiwan and helping to destabilize the region .

China should mind it’s own business and stop bullying it’s neighborhoods and stop provoking Taiwan.

To tell the truth, the large majority of Taiwanese do support the One-China. Taipei is willing to recognise the sovereign of its continental neighbor, and even ready to open its embassy in Beijing in exchange for letting the CPP open its counterpart in Taipei. Normalizing the bilateral relations will be a big win-win for both sides.

...and where do think chips originally came from? USA
...where do you think high density wafers originally came from? USA
...where do you think breakthrough such as advanced lithography came from? USA.
Don't confuse 'global' outsourcing with development and innovation. The reason USA is able to now insource is because it owns much of the intellectual properties. If it weren't for China, USA would have continued to further outsource.
Sure, there were intense competition between Asian states to become dominant in chipmaking, but most owe their dominance to USA.

For all those who are not aware. Taiwan is one of the most valuable countries in the world that provides extremely specialized microchips for our military hardware and supercomputers. No other country can do that or come close. Taiwan has a near monopoly in the high end microchips and how they do it is a closely guarded secret.

wang and the rest of the Chinese need to put their wangs back in their pants and keep quiet unless they want to end up worse than Russia

With 'fancy provocation' over the one-China principle, the US and DPP ugly collusion can only bring their own humiliation..

This is what happens when Joe is let 'off leash' for even a minute. He steps firmly and proudly into the doodoo, and his staff are forced to walk back his comments. Same thing repeated constantly- remember Joe being accosted and silenced by the Easter Bunny last month? His staff are well aware of his ability to "mess" things up as his former boss used to say.

Taiwan or Formosa was never a part of China…
Chinese there are only immigrants, just like in Indonesia, Philippines or Vietnam.
Modernization, development, infrastructure, education was all don by Japan after the Shimonoseki peace treaty (1905) where China congratulated Taiwan to becoming a part of Japan.

or he was actually and intentionally “let” off the leash. I don’t think many of his gaffes are actual accidents. I think there are those that are taking advantage of sleepy Joe’s sleepiness. He’s serving quite an important purpose for them at the moment but he will be quickly thrown under the bus when the time comes.
Desert Tortoise
The US has always had advanced chip making capabilities but it was mostly confined to the defense industry. However the software necessary to run the most advanced chip making forges comes primarily from the US and is tightly regulated to exclude export to adversary nations.

He said out loud what a lot of diplomats tell the Chinese in private. I genuinely believe that unlike some previous US Presidents Mr. Biden would use decisive force to defend Taiwan and not think twice about doing so. Yeah, for diplomatic reasons he has to regurgitate the tripe about One China and all that, but the reality is there probably isn't any member of either house of Congress that would balk about defending Taiwan. Congress would probably impeach and convict any President that didn't act to defend Taiwan. If the Chinese attacked Taiwan One China would be out the window. China is universally hated in the US and especially so in Congress while Taiwan is greatly admired. Even if you didn't get the message the Chinese did, and that was the main audience for that remark.

China is a "renegade province" with an illegal government and rightfully a part of Taiwan.
So say historical facts.
