And where is Bach?

Probably dictating the Emperor's lines to him via a secretly concealed earpiece.

So the US sends an unelected person, Poland and France send their leaders (minor countries don't count), and no other country sends anyone......... 15 out of 190 plus? Not a good look Japan.

The Imperial Household Agency changed the Japanese translation of "celebrating" from 祝う to 記念する. According to Asahi Shimbun, the agency pushed for the alternative translation because the Emperor didn't want to sound like he was "celebrating" a pandemic or superspreader event.

I did enjoy the opening ceremony except for the westerns songs they sang! The Beatles and Susan Boyle?? Really IOC? So disappointed, I really wanted Japan to express their own unique Japanese culture :) Best luck to the Japanese teams!

For any country to successfully host an Olympic Games during such an awful pandemic is something to be very proud of.

The opening ceremony was fantastic. Looking forward to wonderful Olympic Games.

Seems to me unnecessarily boastful for the American athletes to go in chanting, "USA! USA!"

Man, Hashimoto is now put in the very back almost out the sliding doors.

Some thanks she gets. She did do all she was told to do w/o question.
