The international community must unite to pressure the US to stop starting wars all over the world.

Cracks me up when people would say "oh he's (Obama) such a good speaker"

It's a pretty natural thing to think/say when comparing with the current leader of the USA.

The international community must unite to pressure the US to stop starting wars all over the world.

Exactly. This is really the crux of the matter.

But when Japan does something it's neighbors and the world don't like, it's no one else's business and Japan should be left alone. When is Abe going to learn that his words and actions have implications. He's no better than Kim.

So your solution is to continue as the past presidents did, ignore everything and allow NK to keep launching missiles at or over Japan?

You mean those past presidents who didn't start a war? Yeah. Pray tell, who exactly have those missiles hurt?

I also think it's ridiculous that people blame Trump for this

Because unlike Obama and even Bush II, Trump is allowing his ego to respond to sabre rattling, escalating things towards war.

The past presidents did not have to contend with a North Korea that had both missile technology AND nuclear weapons to put on top of the missiles.

Sure they did.

What they didn't have to deal with was an ego like Trump's, that can't handle some sabre rattling.

Ever hear of MAD? N. Korea is not going to attack anyone without first being attacked, because doing so would result in their absolute destruction. And more specifically, the only logical result is a loss of power for Kim. Dictators will go to any means to not lose power - including not starting a war with an enemy that is infinitely more powerful.

But The Trump's ego can't handle Kim's posturing. And so, he escalates.

Exactly, Kim just wants to stay in power and the only way he can prevent outside inference is by having a nuclear deterrent which worked for the US and the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

North Korea has not invaded any other country in its history but the same cannot be said for the US

Also, to imagine that Kim Jong un needs a missle to launch an attack on another country is incorrect. There are plenty of ways that Kim could take out Tokyo or any other coastal city

There's only one way to stop this Kid. Both Russian and China need to agree that having a loose Cannon around such as NK isnt a good thing, and needs to be stopped in Cooperation with the International Community rather than America. This needs to be done outside of the UN and if Trump can really focus on, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours in terms of Business benefits to all, then it becomes a win-win situation for all.

So your solution is to continue as the past presidents did, ignore everything and allow NK to keep launching missiles at or over Japan? What, are we supposed to just wait until the day NK finally has a missile that they can reliably fire at any target around the world with some MIRVs on top of it?

In case you have not noticed, NK has been escalating the situation all by itself for the past 5 years. Who is going to deal with it, and when, if not Trump, right now?

It seems interesting to me that China did nothing for years, yet after a brief meeting with Trump they suddenly decide to post 150,000 troops on the NK border and shut down coal imports, among other things.

Perhaps a no-nonsense approach is the only thing that can be taken in order to prevent NK's troublemaking

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The past presidents did not have to contend with a North Korea that had both missile technology AND nuclear weapons to put on top of the missiles.

They simply let NK develop their weapons program.

Now we have NK with missiles that can hit Japan at any moment with nuclear tips. Nobody has been hurt YET because NK has just recently acquired the ability to launch their missiles this far.

Why is the UN doing nothing? Where are the European members of the UN in this mess?

Blame the USA crowd in here as usual

Do any one of you geniuses want to explain to me exactly how is it that the US is responsible for this mess?

Are you aware that North Korea is still in a state of war with the South and that the war has never ended?

For some reason, the UN bailed out of Korea and left the USA holding the stick for the past 60 years. That has never stopped North Korea from torpedoing SK ships, nor has it stopped them from killing American soldiers posted around the DMZ at the border between the two Koreas.

I also think it's ridiculous that people blame Trump for this, who was it that sat back and watched as NK gained nuclear technology, then built nuclear bombs, then developed missile technology, THEN put their nuclear weapons onto that missile technology?

Are you people living outside of the space-time continuum? Trump's been president for 100 days, and the UN (Including the US) has been sitting around in Korea for 60 years.

What did Obama, Bush, Clinton, et all do during that time to stop this situation from panning out as it has? What has Japan done to prevent this? Japan has done nothing but provoke its only allies in Asia since 2011 with abeclown at the helm. This is not a case of the US starting wars but of Asia and the UN allowing a crazed series of dictators to gain dangerous technology and doing nothing at all to stop it.
