re-assuring to have these two grown men (I hesitate to say 'adult) in cosplay outfits, delirious from cuddling koalas, at the helm, keeping the Pacific Basin region safe for democracy.

Some people don't know that "currency manipulation" refers to a government deliberately keeping their currency low, ie; a strategic currency devaluation. The term does not apply to forcibly keeping the value stable or trying to increase it.

2 cute koala bears

Koalas aren't bears.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Fact, your right they are in the same family as kangaroos

. . . Yes, they should be wearing masks, but the photo with Koala bears shows good friendship between countries . . . . Please be careful of the Koala bear's claws, which can be very sharp, as they are used to puncture the bark for tree climbing . . . .

Watch out 2 prime ministers.

You are stepping on the dragon's tail.

Kishida and Albanese also emphasized the necessity of stability in Australia's supply of resources to Japan, which relies on imports for more than 90 percent of its energy needs.

Probably the main reason for the visit.

The "cos play" outfits are to protect their cloths from Koala funk, urine and sharp claws.

Why is Japan leaders hellbent on getting on Japan destroyed, just to appease the right wing

There is nothing to support such a stupid comment. C'mon Larry, I am sure you can make sense if you try hard. Japan making security deals with others in the region is to make Japan safer. Your anti west nature colors your posts and putting Japan down without a reason is lame.

You are stepping on the dragon's tail.

No, the Koala's have no tails and there are no Dragons anywhere near them. You are mistaken.

PT,I am an American, progressive liberal, Japan is not considered a western society, but an eastern society, American after the election will be absolutely control by progressive liberal

Japan really needs to step out from under the American jackboot. 10 years ago China was the third largest economy (according to increasingly irrelevant US$) after USA and Japan. Now its economy is twice as large as Japan's and growing much faster. Japan needs to join the winning team!

Japan needs to join the winning team.

It already did!

A quasi semi-ally that doesnt really have that much gas to sell Japan.

Except it already sells more gas to Japan than anyone else. So it clearly has plenty to sell. More lies from China fan boys. Typical.

Despite the preventative attire, I’m assuming that PM Kishida will be tested for Chlamydia pneumoniae upon his return to the pristine land of Yamato?

Good on Australia to keep offending its major trading partner ( China ). They think that Japan and America will buy their cheap tasteless wine, wheat, barley and beef. America and Japan will never do so because they export / import these from each other. Already the farmers, logistics and other sectors have started to feel the crunch in Australia after China imposed high tax on these imports for the past 2 years. In the next 5-10 years Australian economy will collapse due to the stupidity of its government who bit the very hand that was feeding them ( China ). Being a puppet for the US will gain them nothing!

China's growing assertiveness in the Asia-Pacific region.

And it is an unstoppable growth, get used to the new world order..

Watch out 2 prime ministers.

You are stepping on the dragon's tail.

About 200 years ago, Napoleon Bonaparte warned the world about China when he said, “China is a sleeping giant, let her sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world.”

Patriotism is refuge for the scoundrel,I a believe in the core principles of America, liberty, equality and justice for all something a true American believe in

Highly overrated principles that have not really existed in the US already..

Nobody fears Japan, because of it unstable leadership

Same for the US..

Neither China nor Russia fear it...

And Latin America is opening its eyes..

Peter14,

I am not refering to koala bear's tail.

But to The Dragon's tail : CHINA!

@Hakman, the only time we’d wear masks down here would be in a hospital or aged care facility, other than that life has been back to normal here for a while.

@Jim, in what way are we offending our major trading partner? You do realise China has imposed these taxes amongst other things as ‘punishment’ for Australia’s call for an inquiry into Covid? China has not been fair which is why this was taken to the WTO.

Our ‘Cheap, tasteless’ wine and beef is quite popular worldwide thank you very much!

We value our relationship with Japan, at least it’s one of mutual respect.

Peter14,

But to The Dragon's tail : CHINA!

China is not involved and therefore it's tail is safe.

Japan and Australia put themselves ahead of Chinese wishes, as it should be. If that is standing on China's tail then it should get used to that happening as it will never change.

Peter

You think like a USA person.

No, I think like an Australian.

So naturally you assume the USA is top dog !

Under bipartisan rule the US is the best leadership option for the world given those available. Certainly much better than China or Russia.

Then why all these desperate attempts to control China ?

Because China is belligerent, wanting to expand territory and turn the clock back a few thousand years to when China had more power over a larger area. China is cruel to its own people and worse to non Han Chinese. China is not leadership material in any way shape or form. That is why its military ambitions must be checked, and its trade coercion limited.

Jim

Sorry Jim, but literally everything you said there is wrong.

China offends itself, Australia looks after its sovereign interest and will always put it before Chinese interests. Tough luck if China is offended by that.

Australian wines are world renowned and sell very well without China. New markets for export are replacing what China purchased and when it wants to return to buying our wine it will find getting stock difficult without paying premium prices. Australia's economy is in no danger what so ever of collapsing. The resilience of it's people will always overcome obsticals be they natural or imposed by another nation like China. Unlike China, Australia has many friends around the world, many many more than China does.

Under Jinping, China is collapsing with zero covid policy strangling its economy. Any invasion of Taiwan will see China struggle with trade as its ships will be sunk on sight and no ships will be permitted to sail to China for trade or they too will be sunk. Like shipping in WWI & WWII was attacked by each side.

The "semi alliance" between Japan and Australia will grow and the glue is the alliance both have with the US. This continues to be of concern to China and its ambitions of Colonial empire building.

Look at the picture. No masks.

Yet another example of how Japanese people don't seem to bother wearing masks when they travel abroad -- but as soon as they're home, they mask up as if they're living downwind of Chernobyl. Even when outdoors with no one near them.

Just more evidence that people mask up in Japan only because they feel they're socially expected to. It's not about health.

So let's ditch the masks already

Why was this down voted, it's absolutely true, if he believes in masks, he should be wearing one on this photo, photo op or not, robots.

PT,I am an American, progressive liberal, Japan is not considered a western society, but an eastern society,

And yet your posts are constantly anti American, pro China and pro Russia, when they make any sense. You may live there but your not a patriot.

Neither Japan nor Australia really trusts China, and that is based on Chinese behavior. They will work closely together and grow their friendly relationship for the benefit of both nations and the region as a whole.

As long as the US is able to avoid another despot leader that tries to kill US democracy, it will continue to be in a trilateral relationship with Japan and Australia. But they need to have contingencies in case the worst comes to pass and the US elects an anti democracy President. I hope the despot is banned from running or Jailed for his crimes.
