Spineless if true.

Boycott the Genocide Games.

Japan's actions would see it side with the United States, along with countries including Australia, Britain and Canada, while stopping short of actually being a diplomatic boycott, the sources said.

But the US officials also never state that their absence is a diplomatic boycott.

Peng Shuai is under surveillance while the alleged rape suspect, a former vice premier, has remained free or hiding, getting away with prosecutions. Beijing is dangerous to visiting athletes. Diplomatic boycott is lenient and compromised.

Japan should send one of their less well-known member.

Make it clear that Japan doesn't follow the US's cliche.

Japan will just watch what everybody else does, and then go with the majority. In the meantime Japan will just weigh up what is best for Japans interests.

The continued scrambling of Japanese fighter jets because of airspace incursions by the Chinese and the continued insistence of the nine dash line would be good reasons not to.

However…..

If Japan sent ministers, it should be only to the same level of officials China sent to the Tokyo games. I’m unable to find any information on top level Chinese officials visiting Japan for the Tokyo games.

To be honest I couldn't care less I think it is to little so I am not watching I no longer support anything the IOC does to line their pockets no matter where they do it.

Japan is considering not sending cabinet ministers to next year's Beijing Olympics...

Kishida has said Japan will decide whether to join the diplomatic boycott based on its "national interests".

How typical of Japan not to be able to take a firm stance on anything. They'll just wait and see what the other nations will do and take action only after the matter is done and dusted.

Please send Mori.

Japan should do this because they believe on it as the right thing and not someone told them to do so.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Kishida should realize that not joining the diplomatic boycott will undermine Japan’s national interests

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@Meiyouwenti

That's actual nonsense.

Playing both China and US are in Japan's interests.

And the gold medal for considering goes to...

They should send the ex-Princess' husband's mother.

My best suggestion is to send diplomates who visited Yasukuni Shime to this Game. It will give me a smile to see the infantile responses from the Chinese Government officials who claim that they are adults.

I have no problem with anyone visiting such places. I don’t know how much the Romans or Mongolians have done under their rein. How far back must we go?

The Chinese Government makes statements every day. The government has become masters of “fake” information.

Their usual response is “We don’t need the west.” Okay!

The WTO gave them the chance. I took it quite slowly but .. now the thieves has to bide the rules.

Japan should send a clown.

Big mistake Japan, don't do it..

That way Asians will never be able to achieve stability in the region.

The chaos and the outbreak of war is what fuels the interests of the US.

Japan must begin to think for itself its own destiny and stop following the whims of a country that is rapidly losing its world hegemony.

The future is with China, the Western civilization is terminally ill.

Japan and China have many things in common, more than the US would like them to have.

Asians must be united without western interventionism.

"Japan's actions would see it side with the United States, along with countries including Australia, Britain and Canada, while stopping short of actually being a diplomatic boycott, the sources said."

Told you! Trying to play both sides and failing miserably -- they can't even DECIDE to do it... just talk about it.

@smithinjapan

On the opposite, Japan managed to save face for China as well as not making the US's mad.

It's the perfect response.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

I expect they'll send a woman.....

1 ( +3 / -2 )

They are waiting for the US to tell them what to do!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Send Mario with some face masks!

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Japan = chick chick chick...... CHICKEN!!!!

Wow, good luck calling the Japanese Asians: can't imagine you make many friends.

They'll never boycott to the level of the aforementioned. Just enough to flatter to deceive, whilst remaining congenial with China.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

This is not for the sake of the USA, but showing China that human rights matter. This seems to be where Japan is confused

What the heck is this Sunday fuss? Both IOC and China claims Olympics should not be politicized, sending

athletes and non-politician like Hashimoto as a rep makes sense.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Go figure! JGov politicians visit Yasakuni yet have the nerve to boycott Beijing. How bizarre. Such a high moral standard the JGov has. To be safe though, why don't they just use Omicron as an excuse not to attend? They should anyways.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

@kumagaijin

They will send a delegate.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Gutless Japan if they send anyone!

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Just send Aso and Mori and be done w/ it. They are/were politicians/former PMs.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@lolozo79

Sending Taro Aso would be freaking hilarious, I can imagine his antics.

Coulfd the U.S. puppet strings attached to Nihon politicians be any more obvious? But, the LAST thing the Olympics needs is POLITICS. If I were China, I would ask that NO national OFFICIALS from any country attend the Olympics unless they come as private individuals very welcome as such. The REAL national representatives at the Olympics are the Athletes who celebrate for us the aspirations of people and NOT the competition of pathologies (see: 'diplomacy') which 'officials' too often represent. The politicians add NOTHING to the games but unnecessary distraction.

Lol! That was a good one. ;p

Settle down everyone. Send Hashimoto as a token or whatever gesture. It’s becoming a bit of a silly spectacle all this stuff. Bit nasty on all sides. The middle ground, for the middle country in middle earth!

Does anyone really care if diplomats go or not? Were individual diplomats even invited? It may end up being plenty cringeworthy (with or without the boycotts) so let’s enjoy the spectacle, without feeling the need to sling mud at each other.

Japans playing silly buggers as usual with all this stuff. The second declaration of an intent to declare something. Slow poker.

. It’s all starting to seem like a bit of a parade.
