Cut Russia and Belarus off completely. Zero trade, zero finances until they leave Ukraine to the Ukrainians.

Modern wars aren't only on the battlefield.

Russian strategies are outdated.

Yes, Hit the Russian people until they commit to regime change from within.

Yes, the Ukraine may not be completely innocent, but for a Nuclear Power to shell innocent people and hold the world ransom with the threat of annihilation for all is completely beyond all reason.

Putin must be removed, and he must be removed by Russians.

Good news.

The more the free world financially starves and shuns these two deplorable fascist states, the higher the chance of internal unrest and regime change.

I hope Russias war of terror bankrupts them.

Matsuno said Tokyo had lodged a protest with Moscow, saying, "It is regrettable that a measure which could work to the detriment of (Japan's) citizens and firms was announced."

With the LDP that is concern Number 1: That Japan Inc. corporations could be saddled with depreciating rubles.

this is bad. you all thinking one sided. A world only ruled by western is not good.

we need more than one power focus. we need a balanced world.

People just don't understand that so many sanctions will backfire in many ways, you will see.

On the contrary, we understand it will exact a cost on all but the cost is much easier to take than sending sons and daughters, mothers and fathers of to war to die in the defense of democracy. There is a continuing cost for freedom and most generations at some point must pay that cost. Russia is forcing a new generation to pay the toll of freedom and we do so gladly to keep the autocrats at bay.

What some people do not understand is that fighting for your freedom, or your families is worth the cost, as shown by many in two past world wars, as shown at Leningrad and at the Alamo.

Zelensky is fighting in one of Ukraine's Alamo's right now, and his people fight with him, for their freedom. They may all die in the defense of their nation but it will rise again and be stronger.

We enact sanctions gladly. Russia should be glad we are not happy to fight alongside Ukrainians at this point. That may change in the future. Stay tuned. This is not over by a long shot.

Russia doesn’t need the west they have China for everything lol . Putin has the upper hand not the west .

Vlad said once in the past the sanctions are ineffective and have the opposite effect, citing the example of North Korea that keeps standing.

Russians had 30 years of western relationships they won't go back to a soviet system whereas north korean never experienced that.

Russia and China, the new Imperium, the world will see its resources even more rapidly decimated, air and water quality worsened and personal freedom relegated to history books, at least the ones that are not controlled by big bother. And the far right pro-Russia fans try to get the gullible to believe vaccinations were a crime. Just wait until the new world order locks things up even more. Yes, I am aware the US/UK/Nato/West have done terrible things, but at least people from those places can read about the crimes that have been committed, and write about them without too much fear of being sent to a gulag in Siberia. How many Russian citizens are in jail now because they protested, can y'all even find that information out?

That they chose to apply sanctions proves that it was not concern No.1.

Russian strategies are outdated.

Russia and its pal states China, North Korea and Iran have effectively used modern warfare tactics, such as hackers to weaken other state's computer systems, and they have large numbers of online keyboard warriors pouring fuel on fires in democracies, then fanning flames. But it must be a treat for some of them knowing not only might they get a few coins for it, and knowing hey could probably not be able to do something similar back in their authoritarian home state. Many might even live in democracies where they're able to experience a bit of personal freedom for the first time, and want to see the people around them in the free country dragged down to their level of confinement. Many especially hate Canada and New Zealand, two of the freest counties in the world, especially in comparison with Russia, China, North Korea and Iran.

not only western/ capitalist. we need china, russia

China and Russia's systems are variations on state capitalism, and when led by an autocrat are called fascism. which is a system the world banded together to defeat in WW2. Th systems governed by state capitalism will deplete the planet of natural resources and continue burning fossil fuels in perhaps ever larger amounts making the world even more heavily polluted and increasing the chances of more catastrophic weather events as the climate changes. New imperium you own it, and your subjects cannot vote you out of power.

I love that the world is coming together in an attempt to stop this from escalating.

Well done Japan! In today's world we must think as a global community, agree and abide by common principles.

All of you are prepared to pay a lot more for everything under sanctions?

Then go ahead!

All of you are prepared to pay a lot more for everything under sanctions?

Yes, I absolutely would rather pay more (and do with less if necessary) if it meant more pressure on Putin and the Russians finally remove him.

The international community has been complacent far too long.

This is a bad decision by the Japanese government and especially where semiconductors are involved.

Because it has made Japan a target .

When China takes back Taiwan and Ukraine becomes Russia then Japan will be in deep doo doo.

Putin has his teeth into Ukraine and wont let go.

Its a recipe for disaster for all involved.

I hope Japan and Europe realizes that the USA isn't capable of being the world police anymore and not a reliable source of protection.

President Putin speaks about International Women's Day in Moscow on Tuesday.......

Sadly, the article didn't include any information as regards what he actually said, like confessing to killing hundreds of innocent women (and children) currently, in his so-called Special Operations in Ukraine. The sadistic coward daren't even mention the death and misery he is inflicting on defenceless ordinary people, but then again, as a Top War Criminal, you wouldn't really bother.

China and Russia are not as dependent on the west as many assume.

The media is full of disinformation and deciet.

Russia is not dependent on the West but China is 100% dependent !

I'm sure Russians can living well without McDonalds.

Well, there goes our future oil and gas supply then. We are screwed by involving ourselves with this. Whole Asia is kinda staying neutral while our government decide to stand with the west. We are neighbors with Russia. I don't think most of us here even think it through what the future is gonna be if this keeps up. Is already bad that 2 other neighbors hate us to the bone, but you add another 1 into the mix and what you get is the same situation like Ukraine. When war breaks out don't expect our own citizens to have the same bravery like the Ukraine to fight to the bitter end.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

The future is Russia. The next economic cycle is commodity based, Russia is a commodity super power. In addition to a strategic military partner with nuclear weapons and a consumer of its finished products.

So delusional and so very wrong. Very funny though.
