Letting China in is a mistake. Every association of countries they are let into results in nothing but trouble.

anything with China involved is a huge mistake and will only embolden their villiany
Michael Machida
Good luck with that!

Is Taiwan in this deal?

Bad news for Japan and the region allowing China into this deal. China is unreliable as a trade partner and should be shunned.

Workers will get shafted by this agreement. Only the rich will get richer.

Mistake having China as a member!

Nice job, paying for China's military and spy complex. Excellent choice. Why is Myanmar included? Where's NK in the list? Come on, be consistent. /s

Exclude China from all trade deals.

Let's take a look at some of the signatories to the agreement:
Brunei: absolute monarchy / authoritarian regime
Cambodia: authoritarian regime
Indonesia: deeply flawed democracy / kleptocracy
Laos: authoritarian regime
Malaysia: deeply flawed constitutional monarchy / kleptocracy
Myanmar: authoritarian regime
the Philippines: deeply flawed democracy / kleptocracy
Singapore: flawed democracy
Thailand: hybrid regime (still essentially a military dictatorship)
Vietnam: authoritarian regime
China: authoritarian regime
And then Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea.
What could possibly go wrong?

There is no way Japan will give up access to the Chinese market. Expecting Japan to deal mostly with western allies over Tibet, Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Iran and the attack on military bases over the killing of Soleimani is an anti-competitive practice in disguise. You think if Toyota stopped exporting cars to China, GM wouldn't fill that vacancy right away? All you have to do is to look at Australia.

2020 Trade deficit with China $280 billion. Why is the US paying for China's military and spy complex then? Excellent choice.

No and neither is Hong Kong.

Japan, Korea, and China have completed 16th rounds of negotiations for a Tri-lateral free trade agreement. Trade is not going to stop, so it's pointless trying to keep Japan from making money.
Cogito Ergo Sum
Unfortunate for such thinkers. China is the LITERAL centre of this economically intertwined world. Don't fight it. Embrace it.

With covid-19, swine-flu, bird-flu. HK law, Every country should restrict or stop dealing with China for at least 5-6 years.

So does this mean everyone can steal , copy , reproduce everyone elses things wilfully and free from prosecution , because that is what china does currently. Be great once everyone else has the same playing field as china.............................

Exclude C H I N A before they ruin everything.

China believes that and wants the world to also. More fake information. Goods and services coming out of Europe, Japan and the US far outweighs China's economy and importance.
China is the cheap hub for dubious quality goods. Thats about all.

It's to be a force against Chinese domination in the group that Japan, along with Australia and New Zealand, joins the group. Without Japan, Southeast Asian countries will be totally dominated by China.

Japan can't bite the feeding hands of China but its tongue won't dare to touch the hands of the US.

No more tariffs on substandard goods laden with toxic refuse. Deals like this benefit no one except for the villains who agree to them.

China is the driving force between this trade agreement and it was her counter to the TTP. There she had had the power veto Australia from joining.
