Parroting Trump and pushing his own agenda to take pressure off of him from the school scandal!

I pray Kim shuts him down!

That made me laugh ! The guy is so trying to be Trump !

Like a little child trying to be like the cool kids at school.

Abe feel a little left out after Trump and Moon have meetings with the man? Abe has had YEARS to propose this, but has spent that entire time saying there will be ZERO negotiations without the complete and verifiable abandonment of the nuclear program, and a resolution to the abduction issue. Trump's declaration of the desire to meet (rather, the acceptance of Kim's proposal) has Abe and others panicking. Now Abe suddenly wants a bilateral meeting. How timely!

Agree that Abe is desperately trying to imitate Trump. However Trump is just a better, more moral leader than Abe will ever be, and one of the great leaders in the world at the moment.

What a fool Abe is

It's good on Abe that he is bringing North Korea to the table after the global sanctions broke that terrible nation.

It's disturbing to see the anti-Japan crowd take such personal and bitter offense at any attempt by Japan to resolve this crime against humanity committed by North Korea, as if they were wishing for direct harm on the nation.

Good to hear there may be an end in sight for this shocking and unforgivable crime by NK.

Either way, it's looking like the end for this pathetic nation and its useful idiots. If they give up their nukes they are hobbled and can be dispatched at will if they step out of line again, if they don't give them up they will be destroyed.

It was a fatal, fatal mistake to lob those missiles over Japan

OK let's play....straws, grasp, quick.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

Abe is like that little annoying kid that know one likes trying find out what house all the kids are playing wiffle ball at. Pathetic. What about me syndrome. The timing of this is a little suspicious don't you think? With Abe and the wife's school scandal getting ready to blow up. Transparent thin and weak as plastic wrap. I think a better approach would have been the high ground and better to have moved in silence.

-7 ( +7 / -14 )

I laughed too! Abe is insignificant. Kim is getting the gold, why would he want the bronze?

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Given the opportunity, Abe will sabotage any meeting between SK and NK or US and NK. He needs to say out and keep his mouth shut.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

@zichi

what has Japan got to offer.

A payment in Bitcoin? NK would take $100 million in Bitcoin for a summit.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

About time.

Isn't this what many of us said should have happened a long time ago?

7 ( +9 / -2 )

oldman_13, yes, a little bit too late for Abe, should be done long ago as recommended by Abie. But this time, a little bit too soon because Abe should wait till Trump speaks first. I think Kim will reject Abe, or ignore him, unless Abe puts huge money on the table voluntarily.

zichi: "America has the most to offer NK followed by SK but what has Japan got to offer. The nuclear situation in NK and the tensions between the Koreas and America involve millions of people."

Exactly. Japan has nothing to offer that NK can't get elsewhere. Here is what a meting with Abe would be like:

Abe: Now, please understand... we demand you to give up your nuclear ambitions completely, and Japan wants to verify it, we demand you to give us back the abductees, we demand you stop provoking us while we try to isolate you, we demand you apologize for past wrongdoings against Japan, and we demand you fill out this questionnaire about what you love best about Japan. These are all unconditional, and anything else would be unacceptable, and regrettable. Please understand and cooperate. That is our "talk".

But hey, don't take my word for it! Take the word of an Abe fan (dcog): "Good to hear there may be an end in sight for this shocking and unforgivable crime by NK. Either way, it's looking like the end for this pathetic nation and its useful idiots. If they give up their nukes they are hobbled and can be dispatched at will if they step out of line again, if they don't give them up they will be destroyed. It was a fatal, fatal mistake to lob those missiles over Japan"

This is the kind of "talk" Japan wants. I honestly want to see Abe's face when Kim agrees to have three-nation talks with the US and South Korea, but says "no" to Abe. Abe has zero to offer, and not only that, he will be forced to follow whatever Trump and SK decide.

I wonder if abe will get a reply even.....

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

GW

I wonder if abe will get a reply even.....

These leaders do have back channels that deliver messages in each other's desk in 1 day.

So yes, NK and Abe administration is communicating regularly.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Samit Basu, the back channel you are talking about is just post office service. I can write Kim if I like and the letter will be delivered in one day. But he reply to my letter or not is totally different matter.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Yesterday: 'Abe just wants to start a war with North Korea!'

Today: 'Abe, stop trying to meet with North Korea!'

Make up your minds people. So what if he has decided to do reach out because the US and SK are doing it. How does that make it a bad thing?

13 ( +14 / -1 )

From "isolate North Korea", to "I want to meet Kim".

Like I said before, flip flopping is weak.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

ThePBot, Abe is a chameleon.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

extanker, should Abe talk to Kim, yes. But the timing is bad for the big picture. Abe should wait and give others chance to talk first. Now it looks like everybody wants to talk to Kim and this will strengthen his hand. On the other hand, Abe did it to his advantage to divert the attention of his scandal.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Kim can get NK's pachinko income to buy food. Japan can promise food sanction will be stopped.. Japan gains nothing but peace is more important.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

should Abe talk to Kim, yes.

No, he shouldn't, he should let the folks at the big people's table do the talking for him. He has almost nothing to offer Kim, other than more of our yen in ODA which will end up in the pockets of the cadre at the top.

Abe is pulling a PR straws trying to make himself look important when his poll numbers are falling. He wants to be seen as "strong" and counts on the population to forget what he said about not talking with Kim.

Folks here are not that dumb.
