Russia must suffer the consequences.

Good. More please!
Fighto!
Good news.
The government should also seize and sell all Russian and Belarus owned or part-owned businesses in Japan - if there are any remaining.

This has nothing to do with the Southern Kuriles dispute. This all has to do with Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Best to actually read the article before posting anything.

It does, but NATO does not have the legal grounds to enter a war directly for and in a non-member country. Meantime over 20 countries have sent military and humanitaian aid to Ukraine. Those Ukranian defenders are taking down Russian helos and armored vehicles with assistance from the rest of the world.
Meantime, sanctions including bank freezes and bans on sporting event entry are all part of the non-military response of the world against Russia's act of aggression.

The military response, the diplomatic response and the ‘we got your money response’
It’ll be the latter that stops putin.

All Russian banks should be treated the same. All assetts frozen and no transfers period. Cant keep buying oil and gas if all banks are sanctioned, thats only problem. The pain needs to be spread around. You want to stop Russian aggression then STOP IT ALL. Ditto for Belarus.
Better to scramble for oil a little than send troops to die in Russia's war. Helping them at all is killing the innocent. Bloody on everyone's hands to some small degree. But 98% on Putin.

We will seize your assets but please sell billion dollars of oil to Japan. We need oil.

The sanctions will affect many Russians, but Putin and his oligarchs had been taking the Russian people's money for so long. Hit the oligarch's holdings outside the Russian Federation, and get the oligarchs to start feeding their troops. The oligarchs are little different from the Russian royals of old who owned serfs. Right wingers who attack the west for as they imagine taking freedoms away from individuals, look at the lives of Russians today and compare that with most western countries, especially Ne Zealand and Canada.
And with all the oil and gas sold by Russia, Russia ranks 57th on this GDP per capita list. Plus Putin's fiefdom Belarus is even lower. Pro-Putin fans can claim the MSM is corrupt and biased, but if you're not Russian would you like to live in the Russian Federation, or any states near the Russian Federation knowing Putin's military is waiting to get instructions from their mad leader to invade. And once again blame the US/UK/NATO for his decision.

Exports to Japan CMLV in Russia increased to 10747.60 USD Million in December from 9439.40 USD Million in November of 2021.
These are the numbers for oil. They’re the same for Feb. You can’t just turn cut off your oil supply.
As it is commonly put, Japan is financing Russia’s invasion into Ukraine.
If you say other countries are also importing oil, this is commonly known as what aboutism and deflecting the issue. The bottom line is Japan is giving money to Putin.

a pathetic pedantic comment.

Showing that wars of aggression don’t pay. Hopefully get rid of Putin. Avoid WW3.
There isn’t really any easy roadmap to all of these available right now, unfortunately.

Thank you, Japan, for being on the side of the democracies.

Is it just me, or is WWIII around the corner?

The thing is, any use of nuclear weapons on Ukraine would most likely result in the spread of radioactive material into neighbouring NATO-affiliated countries. This could then be construed as an attack on those countries, basically allowing NATO to attack Russia.
NATO has 3.5 million military personnel to draw from.

Great news. Now, let's freeze Poo tin.

I have faith that there are actually some people in the upper echelons of the kremlin, who realise the madness of Pootin, & intervene before it gets to that stage.
Don’t forget that it takes more than just Pootin to fire a nuke, it needs several other peoples authorisation
