Sure and why not the tactics shared are all in thanks to the US just giving it to them in thfirst place. The rise of the Imperial Japan is alive and well. The old coots are shaking the dust of their old militaristic uniforms.

The rise of "Imperial Japan" is about as realistic as the rise of the Roman Empire. The same old CCP propaganda they keep spewing all while stepping on it's neighbor's toes to expand it's regional territorial control. So much for the "all of Asia hates Japan" nonsense. If anything, all of Asia hates China as this article proves. Clearly China and it's lapdog SK do not constitute "all" of Asia.

This training will help bring SE Asian militaries up to Japanese standard, and like Japan, capable in future of standing up to PRC and Korean bullies. This is not Imperialism, it is simply the strong Japan military wanting to enforce the “rule of law”.

And laugh I imagine. The SDF tech is good but their tactics are laughable.

The “rise of Japan” should interest you if you live in Japan in 2018 bjohnson.
You have to be aware that pretty much every nation on earth and in history needs and has a military. Japan’s old coots are dead from WWII (like my grandfather) or very very old.
I’d say there’s an apathetic generation here and a lot of hi tech war / defense related issues going on in Japan who’s also kinda occupied and allied by a changing USA.

3 things I think of: to sell arms, change the pacifist constitution or to show off.

While I agree with this statement, I would still be uneasy about Japan deploying forces overseas, as Japan still does not seem to be able to control it's nationalist elements.

@Ganbare Japan!
Japanese standard isn't very high. I don't know where you got the idea that japan of 2018 is some sort of military power to be feared.
