When will they work for US nuclearization? ALL nations should have a nuclear arms program as long as the US has one. Which is the only nation to have used nuclear arms against civilians? Not NK!
smithinjapan
It's a shame Trump will just let NK have the nukes if NK wants them, saying, "I'm not worried."

smithinjapan: Trump does NOT rule the world, even though some think so. Nothing about LET, NK is a sovereign state and have the right to defend itself against the US. Remember what happened to Iraq because it didn't have nuclear capability?
bass4funk
Why? We didn’t nuke anyone yet and we have no reason unless we have no other choice.
Great! So let’s allow all the rogue nations and enemy States have nukes, in that case the reality of a Nuclear holocaust would really become a realistic thing. Good thinking, let’s all wipe each other out!
No, they just starve, execute, torture and brainwash people.

So they agreed with the UN, but not how? Usual diplomatic waffle and obfuscation.
ripe etc. As usual you only bother to look at one side of the story, there have been efforts to progressively reduce nuclear arms in all nuclear nations, unfortunately Russia has just torn up one of the agreements and China won’t even talk about it.
NK is a sovereign state but it does not need nuclear arms to defend its self. It is a rogue state, a vicious dictatorship and a threat to its neighbours and its own population.
Realization
Japanese, U.S. and South Korean defense chiefs agreed Sunday to work toward realizing the denuclearization of North Korea,.
How about North Korea? Are they agreed?

Oh, I agree, despite him and his fans thinking he does. The problem is he can still very easily scuttle this. If the US is to cooperate, it needs a president willing to recognize the threat and deal with it, but as it is, Trump literally is in love with Kim, and just this past week in Japan said to Abe the missile launches were "no big deal". Kim knows how to play Trump -- massaging his ego -- and if he does so to be recognized as a nuclear power and keep his weapons, which he already did last time the US went to talk and gave everything but got nothing -- Trump will allow it despite the intelligence community and others suggesting otherwise. Heck, just look at people like bass4funk will defend Kim if Trump does! Just look at the threads where NK insulted Biden for proof.

Sheesh. Read history much?

The fairest thing would be for all nuke countries to reduce proportionally the number, probably in steps. For example, if north Korea had 10, US 10000, Russia 5000, China 1000, and the decision was 10%, then NK would give up 1, US 1000, Russia 500, and China 10. Yes, there are other nuke countries, but my math skills and naming them all is taxing.

The United States and Japan do not trust Korea 100%.
The reason is that South Korea has acted in violation of economic sanctions by the UN.
Sneezy
The US is the only country that has ever used nuclear weapons on people in war.
bass4funk
None of his supporters think so. But I do think Democrats think they own the country.
He’s doing exactly just that.
Play Trump? Trump didn’t give in to Kim’s request for relieving him of sanctions. So what do you want him to do? Pick fight? Insult him, saber rattle? Then he’d be a warmonger. So how should he handle Kim? The man is already ticked off, he executed one of his men because he couldn’t get a deal, his money and the sanctions relieved. What more can Trump do?
Ok, so how will he feed his men with little money? Remember, the guy has a 2 million man army and a million in reserve....no wonder his livid. Can’t feed them properly....not a good thing, in fact, it can be very dicey for the guy.
He did, and that’s insurance. Kim will saber rattle, fire his missiles every now and then, but if he does something stupid, he’ll never see his money, will have the sanctions increased and then his very existence will be on the line, so technically speaking Trump does have him because if he didn’t, Kim would have no need to execute one of his cabinet member and send the others off to labor camps.
That’s why I love this President.
In hindsight now everyone seems to think Trump was right all long on this, of course the Democrats think they can do better and they did so well with Crimea.
No one is defending Kim and I understand why the President is trying not to push him. It’s in everyone’s best interest or do you want a war? I sure don’t. This reminds me so much of Reagan, Gorbachev and the Reykjavik summit and How the Democrats and Ted Kennedy went behind Reagan’s back to undermine him, the Dems called him names just like with this President, but even then the Democrats could achieve nothing, not even the falling of the wall.

If not for its size, the USA would perfectly fit the definition of rogue nation. As for enemy states, that depends which side of the fence you are on.

@riparez I agree

Reduction of nuclear arms may not really happen as more nations are advancing technologically to have that capability. However, the "use" may be for the time being "controllable" not by agreements, but by necessity or face annihilation. That is.., untill another less devastating but just as powerful weapon is realized or some nation can direct missiles from outer space.
It is the fear of such device being used, the uncertainty, by an "irrational" or "crazy" person or entity that is the problem. And, of course, by any "accidental" use or actual "accident".
This agreement to "denucearize" N Korea may be better stated as to prevent nuclear arms development and its use.
As for missiles... a similar concept also applies. Technology y is there for development and they will be developed. It is best that such missiles not be used as arms. But when national security interest heightens at this day and age, missiles will exist. So disarmamant talks may not work. All other nations including S Korea and Japan have arms and missiles and one cannot expect N Korea not to have any.
