Japan is friends with NATO

Japan is not friends with North Korea, China, or Russia

So those countries suck it up FFS

measures against disinformation by next spring, saying the issue has been a "big challenge" posed by China and Russia.

A risk/benefit of those measures could be some social media posters lose income.

It's not only about America. You have to look at the big picture dude!!

While we can't know if Europe would join a war to protect Taiwan or Japan, Europe certainly should consider whether it will be business as usual in that event.

I really don’t see the need to fear monger. China defeated the US in the recent electromagnetic war and Typhoon missiles are being removed.

It's funny how I never hear of these great Chinese victories. Must be a People's Daily thing.

It’s not going to happen in Taiwan because China does not want to and will not bomb its own people. It wants economic leverage. China is an economic Boa constrictor. It is not going to war to plunder. That’s for the barbarians. China is all about predatory pricing.

You have no idea what the lunatics at the top of the CCP will do. And going "boa constrictor" on Taiwan would be an act of war.

The Philippines? Over a rustic boat? The U.S. is taking their Typhoon missiles and removing them. Not going to happen.

Missiles can easily go back. Depends on whether the Philippines finally calls in the US to put China in its place. The US will feel no need to back down from what is a just fight.

Vietnam? No because they know the Vietnam War set them back decades.

I don't know who you think got set back decades but it wasn't the US.

You can’t fight China in the sea. Western ships charging against the coasts of China.? They won’t even get close enough.

The US doesn't need to get close. Our missiles have plenty of range. Targeting territory of either side will lead to MAD most likely.

Good, let’s ramp up the Naval drills in Chinese territorial waters, I’m so sick of their rot. invalid Csrf

Like minded democracies working together through alliances in order to maintain peace, security and the rules based system that allows free trade, freedom of movement and for nations to prosper.

Those who wish to alter the status quo to create a new paradigm based on fear, intimidation and corruption do not like when alliances work againt their vision. Too bad. Easy to see which posters here sit on which side of that reality.

They may hate the West, but I honestly do not see anything enticing about life in those nations that want to take over. Living under Xi, Kim, Putin and the Ayatollah have absolutely nothing that would make me want to live there. Many who live there love their country and their people but wish for freedom from persecution under their rulers, but have no way to change them. They are helpless and stuck in a bad situation. Surprising that so many post how great they are, that they are better options than any in the west but they do not live there themseves. A paradox I cant work out.

Peter above...you can have a different opinion on strategic matters without needing to immigrate.

The point is you have the protection of an OECD country to live in without fully appreciating all of the risks to that country.

Thanks @GuruMick for your rsponse. I just dont think helping China and Russia etc is going to be good or helpful for the world at large, for their own people or for us. I dont think they offer something better.

Thanks @deanzaZZR for your assessment on my mood. Sorry to inform you your guess was wrong. Our deputy PM attended along with a former PM (Kevin Rudd) for support. And yes the impending purchase of some of the best Nuclear powered submarines is indeed exciting news. Cant wait to see them arrive. Happy my tax dollars are being used effectively.

All we need is an invite to membership of NATO and I will be over the moon.

How much social services and infrastructure can exist if you're being attacked and bombarded? Don't put the cart before the horse.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

They want a willing sock puppet to play with.

China and Russia would use Japan the same way

I wish fools wouldn't rush in where angels feared to tread.

If China and Russia think they can push any democracy around, that's not very wise is it?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Excellent idea!

NATO has no business expanding to Japan.

That's up to Japan and the leaders they vote for

1 ( +1 / -0 )

To my chagrin, the Cold War and the Cold War mentality people like to embrace and entertain seem to die hard.

@NB

If ya don't like your leaders, then vote them out

That's the great thing about democracy - ya have the ability to vote out leaders ya don't like. Authoritarian countries don't have that

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It is about US hegemony threat and the fear of a powerful China. Funny to hear about the stories of "European cowardice", when the only one making money during wars is Washington by selling weapons

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

""During a one-on-one meeting on Thursday, Kishida and Stoltenberg agreed that Japan and NATO will conduct a joint drill in waters in the Euro-Atlantic region""

"Euro-Atlantic region" Smart move staying away from the Indo Pacific is always good.

In what world does the Japanese constitution allow the Japanese military to join this organization which has joined countless aggressive proxy wars around the world?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

That's up to Japan and the leaders they vote for

Kishida wants to be the Zelensky of East Asia. Japan wants to bow to NATO. And NATO wants to commit a regime change in China, in Russia and in Korea – all in the name of liberty. However, NATO prefers not to sacrifice Western lives – proxies should do the job instead. Oriental people, Slavic people. And what impressive leaders NATO has! The lucid Biden, who is full of judgment. Stoltenberg, with his cool nordic name. The Japanese people will bow, obey to the leader and go to the slaughter.

Ukraine didn't kill 100k Russians by being a proxy.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

What happened to the pacifist constitution in Japan?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Totally agree with the latest comment. A lot of fear monger from Washington in order to pursue their own economic interests

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Peter above...you can have a different opinion on strategic matters without needing to immigrate.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Cut it out Kishida!

You're leading Japan to war, it will be turned into the next Ukraine...

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

If the Japanese want to pay more, vote for it. But, Japan already pays a significant amount to the UN, which is powerless, and can't expect any more protection to defend against NK or China.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

They want a willing sock puppet to play with.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

The terrorist group NATO, with its shameless attitude and obsolete cold war mentality, wants to expand its warmongering and aggressive activities to the Far East.

What a danger for world peace and what a shame for Japan to indulge in this international antics just to please the geopolitical whims of the US, which cannot stop its global decline.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

I really don’t see the need to fear monger. China defeated the US in the recent electromagnetic war and Typhoon missiles are being removed.

Where are they going to fight China, on the Korean peninsula again? Not going to happen.

On the islands in Japan, Okinawa? The Japanese have already been bombed in Tokyo. No one wants to join the SDF. This is not a country that wants war. It is basically being extorted.

It’s not going to happen in Taiwan because China does not want to and will not bomb its own people. It wants economic leverage. China is an economic Boa constrictor. It is not going to war to plunder. That’s for the barbarians. China is all about predatory pricing.

The Philippines? Over a rustic boat? The U.S. is taking their Typhoon missiles and removing them. Not going to happen.

The conservative leadership of Japan launched a criminal war against Korea, China, the Philippines and other countries in the 20th century. The price that the Japanese people paid for that adventure was horrible. History repeats itself now; The descendants of those conservative leaders intend to go to a new war now, in order to serve Biden and Stoltenberg. The price of this new adventure will be much more horrible.

NATO wants to increase and expand its joint exercises with Japan

Today  04:42 pm JST

So now we’re getting double daily doses of NATO Ingsoc crap.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Japan had enough already, and should not be dragged to a new war ignited by a senile person now.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Japan, open your wallets and get that money out.

-11 ( +7 / -18 )

Nobody wants this but a bunch of European cowards, that cannot defend themselves, they have no idea that the majority of Americans do not want to have anything to do with them or their insecurities

-13 ( +6 / -19 )

The big picture we pay our taxes ,so bomb will not be drop on us at night, American are charitable and merciful people , American do not like people that will not defend themselves, beside we have enough internal enemies,we.do have times to deal with foreign enemy
