The people spoke. Apparently the "Opposition" didn't have any clear agenda to help the people of Tokyo.

She was up against a comedian and a person who says if elected he'll save Tokyo with a plan to eradicate COVID 19 and fix the economy. If he really has such a great plan, why keep it secret and allow Tokyo people to become infected and die and lose their businesses? Tell us your plan now and save us with your great plan. Perhaps he would have gotten elected had he told us his master plan!

Being the opposition, I'd say promote and explain policy! If it benefits the people you will get a vote.

Opposition parties expressed regret about failing to build a united front against Tokyo Gov Yuriko Koike in Sunday's gubernatorial election and pledged to field unified candidates against the ruling coalition in the next lower house election.

Geez, sounds just like the "opposition" parties when there is a Diet election, either upper or lower house.

Opposition parties here ALWAYS "regret" not getting their guano together, and maybe these people should have it written on their graves, for the constant futility in making themselves into a viable option to the LDP and LDP wannabe's (Koike).

They all have so many different policies and agendas that there is no way in hell they can get together to make any meaningful challenge to whomever is currently in power.

Quit with the crying and regrets, get your butts to work and learn how to work together instead of always blowing your own horn!

Probably going to suggest using some type of disinfectant to get the job done!

If I’m reading the numbers correctly, if the opposition had fielded one candidate against Koike (instead of 21) they still would have lost.

ALL the opposition candidates combined harvested about 2 million votes. Koike got over 3 milion.

I guess being unified isn’t the only problem the opposition has.

It’s more to be a loser to a loser loser winner.

"I guess Mikey Mouse was busy."

Very busy polishing is flawless near-native Nihongo skills.

Although a gaijin, he has no accent.

Only drawback is, he thinks that the language of Law (Legalese) does not exist.

Other than that, Koike would be toast.

Government handouts to people who help them get elected are the LDP's solution to all problems.
