Scheduling conflict? He's literally a lame duck and anything he says will be taken with a grain of salt!

Just what I thought, another foreign junket. Lame ducks should stay home and tend to business that made them lame in the first place.

He looks different?

Yes, he gave up and doesn't want to play the game anymore.

Close the door on the way out!!

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Considering that he will be replaced in less than a month after these events it would be appropriate for him to shorten if not cancel the entire trip.

Should have got one more junket in before he is put out to pasture...

Smart decision,

Honestly when japan decided to cut off UNRWA support in the midst of a war in Gaza and when needed the most, then turn it back on within few weeks without learning the facts or even waiting for the investigations to be completed it was a major Turn Off for many of Japan supporters in the middle east.

Japan donations to UNRWA are not much when compared to other major economies but it did impact the people of Gaza, every $ counts.

To go and make a speech at the U.N. will NOT be a smart choice at this time.

"" He looks different? ""

Just Worn Out, leading the LDP is NOT an easy task when over 50% of the members are seniors and already cast in their own ways of thinking.

P.M. job in Japan is probably the toughest jobs and that's why not many last or even make the term.

He looks different?

you would probably too, if you were about to lose all your free traveling privileges and monetary kickbacks in a few weeks.

Kishida will always be respected and treated as best leader. Well done and we look forward for another new great leader to come

Japanese people are clueless if they accept his trip prior to leaving. It’s just one last shopping trip paid by by our taxes. His whole party should be seen for what they are.

Kishida knows very well that his days are up and what would be the point of a journey to meet Joe Biden?

He might as well stay in Japan to plan his post retirement trip…

It's the camera angle.

Good idea. They're mostly ignored and aren't really listened to unless you're a big player in a big situation. Get a couple of slices of pizza and a torpedo sandwich and head on home.

Probably had something to do with Japan's ties to the US and its ambassador in Japan Rahm Emanuel who basically speaks for Israel's interests.

""Probably had something to do with Japan's ties to the US and its ambassador in Japan Rahm Emanuel who basically speaks for Israel's interests.""

Probably, it was a disaster decision for japan and it's stance on the world stage.

Yet another pointless jolly for Kishida as he bows out, having achieved virtually next-to-nothing in all of his hundred overseas trips undertaken in the last 3 years.

This one should be cancelled, and if the two dead-ducks want to chat about the old times, they can go ahead on zoom and save the taxpayer $$$.

Speed

Get a couple of slices of pizza and a torpedo sandwich and head on home.

It's NYC. They're called heroes, not torpedoes. Where do they even call them that?
