Trump's being fitted with a new leash for Putin to hold, and it's not ready yet.

More like the other way around.

Really? How soon will Putin be brought to the negotiating table considering he is the one absent?

Sir. You will be abused, threatened, bullied and lied to.

Best of luck.

I'm not sure who to feel more sorry for.

A bore and a boor.

Ishiba definitely needs some really good advisors and a lot of coaching to get where he needs to be as a head of state.

Why doesn't he invite Vladimir Putin as well?

Good relations with America are vital for Japan, as they follow US foreign policy to the letter. Ishiba must find a way to connect with the Trump administration, and work constructively together.

he sent Ishiba a "book and some other things" via Abe.

Ishiba could use a book or two to come up with some better policy ideas, that’s for sure.

Thank you Trumpy

Trump will be a convicted on inauguration day

Trump said he did not know if Chinese President Xi Jinping would be interested in attending the inauguration, but added, "I would say that if he'd like to come, I'd love to have him."

He'll meet him simply to demand Japan buy more fighters the US doesn't want anymore, and Ishiba will run around yapping at Trump's heels and asking how high he should jump.

Yup

I think Ishiba will bore the pants off Trump. A great present will make up for our PM's lack of people skills. Abe's gold-plated golf club was a brilliant idea.

"Trump says he could meet Ishiba before returning to White House."

That would be good seeing two great men and great leaders getting along. May always good will among men prevail.

President Trump has a lot on his plate. Since he wants to meet the Japanese prime minister shows responsibility and leadership.

GO TRUMP! MAGA!!!

Anything's possible, just no talk of US Steel or carveouts for tariffs, other than that, come on down to sunny Florida!

Making Ishiba wait was a boss move by Trump. Message received. The PM knows his place.
