U.S. online news site Axios recently reported that Emmanuel could be one of the candidates for Harris' national security adviser position.

A National Security Advisor who has connections to the IDF as a 'volunteer'.

No one will be able to say Harris is not a friend of Israel.

Though with how Trump sticks to labeling and doubles down he will probably keep it up.

Sayonara Emmanuel-san!

Sad. He was clearly the sort of tough guy needed in the post.

Ambassador to Japan is the height of nepotism

13 ( +21 / -8 )

Yeah left because he knows what's coming. The rats are jumping ship.

16 ( +24 / -8 )

Mr. Rahm Israel Emanuel could be a very good choice for the National Security Advisor position, we now know how the Genocide in Gaza will end.

-12 ( +6 / -18 )

Don't let the door hit you in the backside.

18 ( +26 / -8 )

Can say his strong arming Nagasaki won’t be forgotten by my Japanese family folk. Good to see Israel thanked him for his service by blowing up a school refuge.

If any one has any doubts about what VP Harris has in mind for Gaza and it's dismayed people just remember the genocide in Gaza took place while she is in office.

Mr. Rahm Israel Emanuel could be a very good choice for the National Security Advisor position!

We all wish him the Best of Luck if that is the case!?

Getting that resume ready for an Obama hanger on job.

he knows what’s up in November and it’s not any “Harris administration”.

3 ( +16 / -13 )

Good riddance. The ambassador has brazenly interfered with Japan’s domestic affairs a number of times as if he were some sort of colonial Viceroy. I admire the mayor of Nagasaki for not giving in to pressure and refusing to reverse his decision not to invite Israel to the A-bomb ceremony.

More "countering China " bombast from{any and all } US Administration.

Tell me, how is that going ?

Also, how many countries in far off lands has China attacked and bombed seeking regime change ?

And we are supposed to believe China is the pre eminent threat ?

China not encouraging the genocide of people in Gaza.

-4 ( +11 / -15 )

Nagasaki Mayor must have had some serious talk with the ambassador!??

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

Good riddance, bye bye ...

Pretty good actually. Many allies coming together on defense and inflation is down while tariffs remain high.

Also, how many countries in far off lands has China attacked and bombed seeking regime change ?

And we are supposed to believe China is the pre eminent threat ?

The largest navy in the world is clearly a threat to Free Taiwan.

China not encouraging the genocide of people in Gaza.

You're right, it's just encouraging the genocide of people in Ukraine.

Ruthless Rahm Israel back in the USA with his vaulting ambition is a prospect to be dreaded by the people of Palestine, but a welcome case of "good riddance" from Japan.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

Ambassadors are just having fun at their posted countries. Playing golf, dining with influential locals, the wives enjoying shopping, travelling, the good life!

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Good riddance

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Farewell. Hopefully you'll find an even better position in the next administration for you to apply your talents.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Was it his choice?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

We don't need an ambassador who politicizes peace ceremonies by not attending the Hiroshima and Nagasaki ceremonies.

I look forward to seeing what kind of new ambassador Trump appoints when he steps down.

For the US, the role of the ambassador to Japan is by no means small.

I think that people who think that ambassadors can just eat, drink and have fun should think a little more seriously about diplomacy.

However, in less important countries... I think there are ambassadors who do that kind of thing lol

"U.S. ambassador to Japan planning to leave post in November."

Rahm Emanuel is among the few sane left in Dems party. Aim higher Rahm!!

How does that add up with her Jewish husband? Trump makes the claim his daughter and son-in-law are Jewish.

It's not a claim, it's a fact. please study the issue a little before posting things that are not true.

Best news from a failed Chicago major.

So you agree, it's a fact the husband of Harris is a Jew,

3 ( +5 / -2 )

His political exile is over!

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

No one will be able to say Harris is not a friend of Israel.

Then she should say she supports Israel and that the Jewish state should and will do whatever it takes to ensure it’s safety, security and sovereignty.

How does that add up with her Jewish husband? Trump makes the claim his daughter and son-in-law are Jewish.

Yes, but Trump is an unapologetic Jewish and Israel supporter-period. If Harris can’t or won’t then she’s not. Either get in the pool all the way or don’t. Just sticking in your toes doesn’t make you a swimmer.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

All readers back on topic please.

Harris is adding her voice to condemn the recent killing of over 100 Palestinians, including numerous women and children.

Talk is cheap when you're just talking the politician's talk and while she's getting votes with it, Gazans and West Bankers are being exterminated without letup.

She also mentioned that Israel has the right to take action against Hamas.

No, it doesn't. When will this gaslighting ever end? Only Hamas, as the governing body of Gaza, has the right under international law to defend itself by any means necessary against the Israeli military occupation. The truth that Israel is a 10-month-long war crime continues to be the sordid elephant in the room whose stench has become unbearable.

gee, whatever happened to all lives matter?

Best bit of political news I've seen in JT in ages. His actions against the ceremony at Nagasaki were a disgrace to the US and the other boycotting G7 members.

Present US ambassador to Japan who had arrogantly behaved as if governor−general of colony.

This is his last gig, this guy could not get elected to dog catcher

He will get a cushion job from Kamala

I don't think so, he is officially damaged goods

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Would be better if the U.S. started to post State Dept. diplomats like most other countries do.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

He seems to be a scrupulous manipulator. He thinks November is the best time for him to leave his post in Japan and advance to a higher position when either Harris may win or Trump.

Wasn't his absence from the Nagasaki atomic bomb memorial ceremony the result of this minute calculation of his? He accuses Nagasaki Mayor Shiro Suzuki's decision not to invite Israel to the ceremony politically motivated, because of which he said he would boycott the ceremony.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

We wont forget how he blasted the memorial of nagasaki/Hiroshima, get out!
