When Biden occupied the Oval Office 6 months ago, Beijing was watching intensely to see if he could be more friendly than Trump.

China was disappointed, knowing well that the new president would be no better. Hence, Beijing snubs US deputy State Secretary for obvious reason..

Who cares what China thinks. I don't know what Ms. Sherman will be discussing beyond the above article. But - there is a degree of convergence amongst the American defence force planners - that the US needs to construct a massive long-range non-nuclear missile force in a country close to China. Japan is obviously the ideal location due to proximity and the aggressive posture of the CCP towards Japan. I hope that is an agenda item - due to the increasing belligerence from China. Japan would be wise to to support that initiative if it is offered. It would not violate their understandable nuclear hostility, but would give the US a substantial ability to defend Japan.

Does this visit have anything to do with that spooky CCP channel video ?

Not at all. Such ridiculous pro-Chinese/anti Japanese propaganda videoclips are produced all the time, same with North Korea, which is also good to produce brainwashed videos against Japan and the USA.

It cannot be taken seriously.
