Ukrainians are a priority over Japanese people....
JGOV betrayed the Japanese people who pay taxes, especially after the nowadays deadly earthquake.
STOP TO PAY TAXES!!!! AND FIRE KISHIDA.
HopeSpringsEternal
Seems much more foreign military support for Ukraine will be defensive in nature moving forward, especially air defense. Why?
To buy time for Ukraine, while conflict's being resolved via backchannel channel negotiations now well underway.
kyushubill
So she flew all the way there to pledge this when she could have done the same over the phone or Zoom. Great way to "spend" ahem (waste) tax payer money.

You only hear of the money the Japanese government wants to to know about. Every country is giving more and so they should. Just like all the country's that helped Japan to rebuild after WW2 and after just about every disaster Japan has had.

Not quite. The money is going to NATO in which will be going to European manufacturer's pocket to obtain the needed equipment not Japanese manufacturers as described within the article.

Today Madame Kamikawa reported (apparently, after the press conference in a basement of Kiev): "An air raid alarm sounded during the meeting, so we urgently decided to hold this press conference in a shelter. I now feel the tension and seriousness of the situation in Ukraine... "
Even the Ukrainian media themselves do not hide that there was no threat of shelling in Kiev on Christmas Day. Another production by comedians from the "95th quarter" is designed to plunge Western sponsors into the "horrors of war." A sweet naive woman...

So, what more crimes as a result of Russia's actions? The Germans caused lots of suffering in Ukraine, too, but they outlasted it.

Wait a min, I just read the other headline before this one where Kishida was speaking of “budget constraints” dealing with the recent earthquake disaster. How is it that there’s no such issue when it comes to tossing ¥ across the world to those that are not even your constituents? Enquiring minds want to know.

In Kiev, the sewers burst today, the city was flooded with sewage, and now, in the cold, Kiev streets risk turning into a foul-smelling swamp. It is now -12 in Kiev. As coincidence the mayor of Kiev Vitaly Klitchko has just bought a house in Germany for 7 million euros. So, the money of the Japanese taxpayers will be very useful

Every little bit helps.
Donate in support of freedom and democracy.

That may be but are we to think that supporting a neighbor, our allies from invading armies is an unworthy cause because of profiteering? History has taught us one important lesson which many have undoubtedly forgotten or never understood. To appease and silently stand by and let a bully go unpunished only leads to more brazen behavior and a much greater price to be paid, morally and financially!
There are ways to deal with profiteering, where there is a will there is a way, but for some to use that as an excuse to not support those innocents who are being slaughtered is immoral.
Dave Fair
$37 million?
Now if that is a personal donation by Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa I'm impressed!!!!!
JJE
Precisely. Wars make money in various quarters. War profiteering is the second oldest profession!

She's not actually giving money to Ukraine. She's giving equipment worth $37 000 000! So, the money is going from the Japanese government into Japanese manufacturer's pockets.
Agent_Neo
If the Japanese people don't complain about how this money is spent,
No matter how many foreigners complain, it is nothing more than interference in internal affairs.
If Japan is isolated in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and has no need for trade or diplomacy with any country, there is no need to spend money.

Do you also think that in a global company expensive international business trips are useless expense because everything can be done with Zoom?
Raw Beer
Why via NATO? She's basically getting Japan to join Biden's senseless proxy war against Russia. And then she'll wonder why the Japan Russia relationship has deteriorated.
JJE
Do the maths on this...
A proxy war costs at a bare minimum $20 mil a day (that is less than one week of the skim-offs for the local cabal, who will take a massive haircut).
Nothing here makes dollars and sense. Suspect they have been put up to do this because the boys on the Hill Stateside aren't ready to issue another blank check.
sunfunbun
Good on Japan. Hopefully the world sees this and wakes up to the wrongs of Putin, supports and keeps Ukraine free from Russian tyranny.
People who think Russia did a good thing by attacking Ukraine and thinking Ukraine should give up are anti democracy and freedom.
Mark
Stop this mess and start talking, ALL wars end by TALKING.
There will be NO WINNERS in this war and or the Gaza Conflict, only Death and Destruction.
Shane Sommerville
Maybe send the money to Ishikawa to help them first.

Hmm....travel around the world to do something that could have been done over the phone. Just another photo op to take to Joe in March. And while this clown show takes place, I don't recall seeing any of the ministers from MOD, MLIT, Health Ministry, or even the Chief Cabinet Secretary, Hayashi visiting the disaster area. Great leadership during a crisis Kishida.....really great.

Exactly. I do not understand why many people here do not seem to get this.
Fighto!
The fact this additional aid is attracting anger from the fascist Russia supporters means it is the right thing to do.
Eastmann
beeter headline could be
37 millions from jpn taxpayers will be wasted-again.

people from Noto can sleep better now....

It's called foreign policy. It enables Japan to exert influence in the world.
They are dong this as well. Just because you are doing one thing, doesn't stop you doing other things.
Actually, best to do both.
Luckily, they aren't.
TokyoLiving
Of course, it's extremely idiotic..
TokyoLiving
What??!!!!!..
This is completely crazy and stupid..
Why Japan want to waste 37 million dollars in a war that doesn't belong Japan???..
Look the disaster of the earthquake, the elderly, the children, Japanese people need ASAP those 37 million dollars in government help, instead Kyiv regime ..
Japan, please solve your people's problems first, instead Ukraine's problems..
Japan has a lot of social problems that must be fixed by government and Japan's money...
Stop doing stupid things!!!...
majikayo!
idiotic

Does she have that much in the bank to give?
