It's next to impossible to persuade North Korea to denuclearize and dismantle nuclear delivery missiles because they think to be armed with nuclear weapons and missiles is essential to survive as a nation. If the trilateral parties really want the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula they should take the initiative to denuclearize themselves, that is, withdraw from the U.S. nuclear umbrella, let alone persuade the U.S. to denuclearize itself.

NK is all smoke and mirrors. They couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

But they could blow it up with a nuclear warhead.

Anybody who knows why NK has been persisting this stubbornly?

NK has watched as the US have instigated regime change in a number of nations. As the US will not sign a peace treaty to finally officially end the Korean war, it believes it will be safer from a US attempt to force one more regime change at Kim's expense, if they have the means to project power through long range missiles with nuclear warheads to strike US territory. They may be right.

The US can go a long way by signing a peace treaty first, without sanctions relief, and then work on both disarming NK and removing sanctions in unison.

Nobody gives up their weapons before a peace treaty unless they have surrendered and neither side has done that in the Korean war.

I would say that is why or close to the reason why NK persists with its current direction.

Give up them evil nukes, Little Rocket Man. Stop playing with fire. One wrong move and QUAD will flatten you and your nation.

Like it or not, and who could like it outside of the Kim family and their criminal regime, the DPRK is in possession of nukes and the means of delivering them in ever-increasing quantity and sophistication. It's a done deal. The only way forward is to accept the reality, because they aren't going to give those weapons up.

Time to deal with the DPRK as a nuclear power and forget all the talk about disarmament. No sense in making an extremely dangerous situation worse than it already is.

Oh, what a world we live in!
