Unilaterally changing the status quo. The American seems to have the idea that only it can do it, or, its allies can do it. Eg, The Australian threatened to go to war/attack The Soloman Island, if it allows the Chinese to have a military present on its island. Is this not changing the status quo??? The American were happy, did not threaten the Australian with sanctions. Just one eg.
The Americans credibility is already in the dog house. ( do not mean to insult the dog) If, you/anyone who cares able your credibility, its best not to get in bed with them, when it involve foreign policy, you will be tared with the same brush.

Precisely. "Protecting the status quo" translates to "Protecting the US hegemony" in this instance. At least for as long as they can keep their slipping grasp.
I am pretty sure China is not the one bombing other countries on a regular basis, which seems to me to be undermining order a lot more.

Without regurgitating your comment i would like to inform you the hand is supposed to be placed on the heart which is center and not on the left as many uneducated of human anatomy assume.
Personally i find it refreshing that Nobuo Kishi knows where the heart it.

Have a go with the U.S.A. instead of Germany this time around.

Good, anything to counter China's bullying.

Alfie:
Exactly. Only WE are allowed to have military bases around the world. Only WE can surround China. Only WE can start insane wars. Only WE can bomb innocent children. Only WE can control the world's oil. Only WE can have the currency through which oil is exchanged. Do as WE say and not as WE do.
And what is Kishi doing in that photo? Pretending to be American and yet can't shift his hand a bit more to the left?

It appears as if the USA is tired of the tedious responsibilities of the defense agreements with Japan and perhaps would rather Japan wasn't such a burden.
Japan will rise up and then history will repeat itself.

Clearly Nobuo realizes that the heart is in the middle and not on the left side unlike Lloyd .

Same old same old, nothing new.

Every freedom loving citizen and country has the United States to thank for those freedoms. Rather it be from economic or military influence, or a combination of both . It’s not bullying through force either. As long as oil and every other commodity, and/or currency is traded on or against the US Dollar, it won’t change . Yet every time the US offers to change from the greenback for currency and goods trading … every country says oh no …. As for military might …. The US doesn’t start wars , it ends them.

One wonders if these politicians are self-aware enough to understand that the "status-quo" and the "rules-based order" actually mean the control of the world's financial systems by the United States through its military power.

On Kishida's taxpayer funded world tour, all his pronouncements reference defending the status quo and the "rules".
The G7 leaders know in this struggle for global influence, they have little to actually offer their populations except a familiar lineup of oligarchs to exploit them.
