He no doubt brought his "written notes" he'll read off of when it's his turn to speak. What a disgrace!

Be careful, Suga! The “I don’t want to answer that” doesn’t fly overseas, nor does the victimhood for a guy who wanted the job so badly during a pandemic.
foreignbrotherhoodarmy
As a Japanese person he should be strictly quarantined.
snowymountainhell
Back home in Japan, they prefer the daily commute and can’t be ‘troubled’ to live in the PM’s ‘official residence’, Mrs. will go along with Mr. for that ‘free trip to England’.
Robert Cikki
How about a little reminder of the entry ban on foreigners in Japan? Not saying Suga is a foreigner, but he may realize a few things
snowymountainhell
Not to worry. Along with many of its trees, Carpis Bay has been presumedly cleared of any pesky ‘ghosts’.
Kanta
Tiny, tiny man on a big stage.
Darius
Enjoy our fine beaches and drunk locals.

Andrew:
I can't think of a civilized, developed country which banned foreigners who actually lived there or had spouses or families who were nationals of that country, unless they also placed some sort of restrictions on their own citizens too, like Australia. Japan was the only country to do that, splitting up families and basically preventing foreigners from attending funerals abroad or saying goodbye to dying relatives for the last time.
Mark:
I bet Suga can use a knife and fork too. Jozu desu ne.

How long can declining Japan remain in G7?

"Be careful, Suga! The “I don’t want to answer that” doesn’t fly overseas"
Certainly not!
However:
"I didn't realise that the Withdrawal Agreement I wilfully signed was going to be so detrimental to the aspirations and livelihoods in N, Ireland.
Therefore I am prepared to breach the Law (albeit in a "limited" way), as and when it suits me and my cohorts.
I EXPECT your understanding and cooperation in this matter"
Yeah, Suga should try that overseas.
What seems to be good for the goose....
James
Suga should stay there he might be held for Covid war crimes after October elections.
William77
There he comes, the most useful and less charismatic of all the G7 PM/Presidents/Chancellors.
William77
sorry I meant useless
Martimurano
Reckons he's arriving in UK to seek support for staging a safe Olympics..... I really don't think there's a hope-in-hell of garnering any enthusiasm for trying to run the event in pandemic conditions - Nobody cares about the damned games !!
He'd have been better off staying home and sorting the crisis there.

It’s nice when you can visit a foreign country for work, isn’t it Mr. Suga?

Darius, unfortunately the locals won’t be able to enjoy their beaches, drunk or sober as they are excluded by this bunch and their attendant freeloaders.
I assume from your comment that you are a teetotaller and have never been drunk in your life (otherwise your comment would be hypocritical as well as culturally insensitive not to mention racist?)
Lets hope something useful and positive comes out of this meeting and doesn’t descend in to “wafflage” as one person with long experience in these affairs was reported by the BBC as describing it.
It will be interesting to see if Suga can avoid the natural Japanese instinct to obfuscate for the purposes of group harmony (not necessarily a bad thing within the context of his own culture) and adopt clear and decisive terminology needed at these occasions if anything useful is to come out of it?

When Yoshihide Suga age is added his G 6 partners , the average is 62.5714 years.
Does any really comprehend, know what they stand for, or even truly understand who they stand for?
G7 summit could have been held on line.
But no all have a overriding political agenda that needs to be grandstanded in person.
Power and Politics, with more than an overture to a Shakespearean tragedy.
In Boris Johnson case, “Julius Caesar.” , Emmanuel Macron tiptoeing dagger drawn.
John Noun
Can't stand that he's galavanting around the globe, possibly taking a Japanese strain of Coronavirus to a country that's doing better than Japan in this pandemic
Mark
I am hoping that this meeting will expedite vaccination around the globe, we are SICK and TIERED of being jerked around.
itsonlyrocknroll
It is a shop window of political vanity. No legal compulsion.
Suga san attention needs to be politically focused at home, for obvious reasons.
Suga san should have taken a leaf out of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi book.
itsonlyrocknroll
Whether one agrees Yoshihide Suga, politically or not is one thing, to wish him ill will and worse is playground silliness, frankly quite sinister.
Luddite
None of the leaders, their spouses and hangers on had to quarantine as required for all those arriving from Red or Amber countries. I wonder if they are allowed to skip the compulsory 2nd and 8th day PCR tests too. I bet Suga won’t be chucked into a crappy hotel for six days when he gets back, like I will when I return to Japan. There is zero recognition of those who have been fully vaccinated outside Japan too.
Alan Harrison
Is there any real point of Japan sending anybody to a G7 summit anymore? Has Japan anything useful to offer anymore?
Gooch
It's a 777, but it is a beautiful plane. Shame it's wasted on such a non-entity.
bearandrodent
Curious how big his entourage is, and if they’re quarantined during the G7 meetings. I really hope they aren’t allowed to roam free while waiting for Suga.
Bjorn Tomention
How about the carbon fottprint of these self entitled ones flying all over the world burning up valuble and dangerous fossil fuels, whats wrong meeting on line and partying like we all had to do for months.?
Shows you all how much BS it all is.
Save the enviroment dont use fossil fuels the virus is dangerous stay home , yeah right we believe and ya silly make believe fairy tales.
CaptDingleheimer
PM Suga ought to take advantage of being in the UK and run down to the drug store (sorry, 'chemist's) on a break from his conference to get his Covid-19 vaccine shot!
Newgirlintown
So, if I go to England, I have to self isolate for about ten days, and on my return to Japan, spend six days in a government run isolation unit before spending ten days isolating in my own house. I assume that Suga will be setting an example by doing the same?
Mickelicious
"I didn't realise that the Withdrawal Agreement I wilfully signed was going to be so opportune for a party that make even me look principled."

The Japanese PM Suga enjoyed the afternoon tea & face mask free meeting here in Cornwall different from the Japanese Covid atmosphere.
