Fake! Trump doesn't have any friends. He only cares for himself

19 ( +29 / -10 )

"He loves his country so much and for him to leave, you know, I just can't imagine what it is."

You'll find out in November, don't worry.

Well, another "strike" against Abe and his "legacy of failure!"

15 ( +23 / -8 )

The one on the left hides out in bunkers - the guy on the right just falls into them.

Bunker buddies forever!

Abe did a lot of good, tried his best at others, I respect that.

But he will always be ridiculed for nominating trump for a Nobel Prize. That was the lowest moment of his tenure.

I can't wait until the door slams on Trump's behind on the way out. If he somehow does get 'voted in' again - I truly feel that will push the world into an abyss...

Hard to imagine what these two learned from each other.

At least Bush II balanced Koizumi' cheesy visit to Graceland with a tour of a more significant Memphis landmark, the motel where MLK was murdered.

Bolton tweeted Friday that Abe's resignation is "a great loss to Japan and the United States."

"He is a first-class world leader and one of America's staunchest allies. All best wishes!" he said.

Bolton has a lengthy opinion piece in the Washington Post, "Abe will be missed, not least because he tethered Trump somewhere close to reality," on Aug 28.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/08/28/john-bolton-shinzo-abe-trump/

Among which, Bolton says:

During the Trump administration, almost alone among U.S. allies and major trading partners, Abe kept economic issues down to a low roar. By preventing trade and investment controversies (inevitable between any two large, interconnected economies) from assuming disproportionate significance in Tokyo and Washington, Abe worked a kind of magic with President Trump. Other U.S. allies were not so successful....

And some of his most important assessment of Abe, I think, is this:

On China, Abe is the real progenitor of the concept underlying Washington’s “free and open Indo-Pacific” mantra, opposing China’s efforts to achieve hegemony in the region and beyond....

During the Trump administration, Abe’s disciplined diplomacy was important. He was like a heavy metal chain tethering the president somewhere proximate to reality, rather than getting lost in the Trump-Kim Jong Un rapture.

Didn’t Abe let trump cheat at golf, after falling into the golf course pond?

If they want to be lifetime pals, there is a youthful leader a ways up from Japan who could send a few of his friendly letter writing tips through diplomatic back channels.

I am wondering if Abe san is thinking, I cant wait to step down, at least I won't have to deal with this baffoon any more.

@AgentX

You nailed it. I couldn't agree more. Sadly, these are the times we live in. In this inter-connected world, with response (or lack of it) by the US to the climate/environmental emergency we face now SO critical, 4 more years of Trump = "That's it folks!... we're all screwed".

4 ( +4 / -0 )

It's all boiler plate BS. Japan and America - never the twain shall meet!.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

A word from Trump can seem more of a curse than a blessing. But fortunately the US-JPN alliance, as well as the US position vis-s-vis China, is bipartisan. A new US administration under Biden isn't going to change that.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

[ Together with Trump, Abe has "made the U.S.-Japan alliance, and our overall relationship, the strongest it has ever been," the official said in a statement.

The two countries have been able to "significantly" advance their shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific, an idea promoted amid China's rising clout and assertiveness in the region, and the United States is looking forward to working with Abe's successor, the official added.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, who is running in the November election as the Democratic presidential nominee against Trump, said on Twitter that he is "sad" to see Abe's departure but added "the strong alliance between our countries and peoples will continue for generations to come."

Abe contributed to strengthening the alliance as he pushed ahead to expand Japan's role in regional security and international peace-building efforts, such as through the enactment of legislation that loosened the constraints imposed by Japan's postwar pacifist Constitution, according to experts on Japan-U.S. relations.

The legislation, which took effect in 2016, has led U.S. and Japanese troops to work more closely than ever in peacetime efforts as well as in the event of contingencies including situations where Japan judges the need to exercise the right to collective self-defense, or defend allies under armed attack even when Japan itself is not attacked. ]

Abe chan simply followed in his grandfather Kishi Nobusuke's footsteps, as "After World War II, Kishi was imprisoned for three years as a Class A war crime suspect. However, the U.S. government released him as they considered Kishi to be the best man to lead a post-war Japan in a pro-American direction. "

Sacrificing his honor to hang out with Trump. Now, that is putting country first.

Abe gone and trump will be gone soon.

Time for a new order!!!

When I have a great relationship with a great friend I don't mispronounce their last name EVERYTIME I've ever said it. It's very telling that no one on his staff has ever said anything to him regarding this...most likely he just doesn't care enough or respect another world leader enough to, at the least, pronounce a simple name properly.

Trump said he and Kim were 'lovers' too. Then Trump told some uncouth jokes mocking 'Oriental languages' last year. Lover boy with a NK dictator, 'great friend' of Abe of Japan.

Who needs friends like that? Trump doesn't HAVE any friends. He doesn't know what that word even means.

Ask trump this. What is Abe-Sans FIRST NAME?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

trump called him Abi. great friends.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Donald and Shintaro: casinos trumped them both.

The house always wins

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@AgentX

If THAT happens, the revolution WILL be televized!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Abe's sucking up to Trump got him nothing more than higher bills for security and bad trade deals. Besides taking care of his colitis, I think the burden of dealing with Trump will be a big relief. Abe shouldn't call Donaludo tomorrow. Japan may be stuck with bigger bills.

We've had a great relationship

The most damning indictment anyone could wish for..

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Trump pays highest respect to 'great friend' Abe

This may not be something Abe-san will want on his curriculum vitae...

Hachikoreloaded

What do you do when you have a great relationship with a great friend?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Trump said he and Kim were 'lovers' too.

Different. We have a very long diplomatic relationship with Japan, before Trump we had none, Kim was always a wild card, a mystery.

Then Trump told some uncouth jokes mocking 'Oriental languages' last year.

Biden made fun of black people. Old people aren’t always politically correct.

Who needs friends like that? Trump doesn't HAVE any friends.

Oh yeah, he does. You don’t get to wear he is in life or even near the WH if you don’t have friends. He was a businessman before he got into politics.

He doesn't know what that word even means.

He does, that’s why he and Abe are and will remain friends just like Bush and Blair or Reagan and Thatcher and Gorbachev and that’s a great thing.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The "highest respect" he can manage is somewhere below the gutter.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

trump called him Abi. great friends

I agree.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

But he will always be ridiculed for nominating trump for a Nobel Prize. That was the lowest moment of his tenure.

Not at all.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Fake! Trump doesn't have any friends. He only cares for himself

How do you know? Do give us some proof!

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Nice of Trump to give praise to Abe, one of the staunchest allies in Japan. One of the few leaders that Trump had the deepest respect great high point for both of them. Hope they stay lifetime friends. Kudos to them both.
