G7 got a BRIC through its windscreen long ago.

Hardly masters of the universe of any more.

One sure sign of progess, was getting the UNGA to agree on anything, let alone this.

UN General Assembly votes to suspend Russia from the Human Rights Council

https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/04/1115782

The vote was 94 - 24 - 58. Russia became only the second country ever to be removed from the council.

Made dark before the vote: according to the Associated Press, Russia distributed a letter, threatening nations that voting in favor of the resolution or abstaining from the vote would be considered an "unfriendly gesture" and alter that country's relationship with Russia.

Russia really is a mafia nation - threatening & bullying other nations.

The leaders of these nations who voted in favour of the resolution may wake up one morning with a horses head in their bed

Judging by the photo it would appear they think the atrocities in Ukraine are a big joke as they all have big smiles and appear to be laughing.

I certainly do not find the needless loss of lives in a senseless conflict amusing .

Definitely nothing to smile or laugh about.

There isn't any international order anyway.

Some agreements have been made by certain groups of countries but has never kept with orderly fashion.

-13 ( +8 / -21 )

Have any of you seen photos or footage of the massacred Ukrainian civilians?

Nice little country you got there. Be a pity to see your leaders succumb to Novichok.

Putins War has brought the worlds mindset backwards. We are being dragged back to WW2 by a Mad Man. We must fight this Evil with a 2022 Mindset and not let Putin win anything at all. Putin wants America and every other country to think like it was 1939 when WW2 started. However, we as a civilized people in 2022 must remain in todays' mindset to stop Putin and his Evil Army of Crazies. I am sure that plans are being made to put an end to Putin himself. I am waiting to see it.

The sanctions pantomime continues.... meanwhile the ruble has returned to its pre-war level and the EU continues to pay Russia more than one billion euros a day for its gas. The US continues to pay Russia for oil.

Only 30 countries have sanctions of any sort on Russia. The only sanction that could hurt Russia is its oil and gas exports, but halting them would hurt the west more, hence the continued flow of cash to the Russians.

The "face saving" sanctions will be dropped pretty quickly after the fighting has finished and the peace deal is signed. Then we can all look back and see that this war was a pointless waste of life.

The Washington Post, New York Times and Telegraph have reported more about atrocities in Ukraine:

Matthew Hopkins, agree with you 100%

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Is it wrong to torture and execute Russian prisoners? G7 should also condemn this.

-4 ( +9 / -13 )

Why did they use the picture of these guys laughing on such a serious subject?

-1 ( +10 / -11 )

Something isn’t right. Sri Lanka have no sanction imposed of their Government other than the IMB financial Pressure and the government is about to get kick out. The Roupel is back to where it was against the USD before the war. Are they really sanctioning Russia? Have left the back door open ? It seem the only pressure Russia is facing is the Ukrainian Army and it people.

Do you truly think that removing Putin will solve the overall problem.

yes

He is not acting alone

yes he is

Putin is the godfather of mafiosa Russia

11 ( +17 / -6 )

The people of Ukraine are dying for the protection of freedom and democracy of the Europe and the west and the west still is standing buy and applying so called ""pressure"" while Russia is applying death and destruction.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Maybe...not the most appropriate picture for the gravity of the situation.

Nothing too surprising overall in their actual actions they take, but it will definitely be worth keeping an eye on how much influence the G7 can actually exert and what it will mean for the future of the institution.

G7 condemns Russian atrocities in Ukraine; vows to up pressure:

Would highly intelligent & knowledgeable G7 not want to confirm authenticity of the report before condemning?

Does G7 really want to impose coordinating restricted measures against Russia after all the sanctions..?

Another intercepted phone call released by the Russians.

SBU official identified as Sergey Anatolyevich speaking to someone named Lesogor

“From March 24 to April 3, after we pushed the ‘orcs’ away from here. After the unit that pushed them out moved on, the territorial defense came from Malin … and marauded during that time. Looted everything they could. Broke down doors, everything. Safes were opened, cars were stolen. They stuffed the cars with everything worth anything and took it away,” .

G7 got a BRIC through its windscreen long ago.

Though the fossils running the G-7 have taken lots for themselves and stiffed most of the rest of the world, while overseeing an era when the physical environment has been further degraded because of their greed, I cannot imagine a world led by Bolsonaro, Modi , Putin and Xi Jinping would be much of an improvement. But then I'm anti-authoritarian, and anti-racist, and each of the BRIC leaders has led authoritarian, ultra-nationalist regimes. The new bosses would most likely be even worse than the old bosses. Each of their nations occupies huge territories, let them stay within their own borders, like the 'western' empires should have.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Eastman....

how about to investigate first?

Exactly. Russia called on the UNSC to hold an independent investigation by the acting head of the UNSC (The UK) said no. A crime with no investigation,no evidence and no trial.

All part of the propaganda war being waged on both sides except we are only allowed to see the Ukrainian version of events by our "free and fair" media.

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

Matthew Hopkins

Michael - Do you truly think that removing Putin will solve the overall problem. He is not acting alone and who replaces him.

Fair point. However, the motivations for Putin invading Ukraine are personal to Putin.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

It's like a giant social experiment. The ruling regimes and their corporate media seeing how much they can get away with. How much the general public will go along with whatever they say even if evidence points to the opposite they are presenting.

If it happened in Iraq, Syria, Serbia, Libya, Afghanistan, the bombs would already be falling and no one would talk about how it started. It's a little more complicated with Russia. I think what they'll do is move onto another "atrocity" so everyone forgets about this one and then another and another and etc.

They can't go to war with Russia. So I presume the purpose is to condition the public to accept rapidly declining living standards and shortages up to an including food shortages.

The experiment was successfully completed long before now. They can get the majority to believe anything they want.

Oh there will be a trial. That you can be assured of.

Putin the dictator.has to be knocked down in any way possible.

The only participation the UN should want from Putin is to visit The Hague and answer for his war crimes and Russia’s systematic rapes, murders and genocide committed against Ukraine. Something similar to the war crimes trials in Nuremberg and Tokyo after WWII.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Putin so smart, why did he put 100 of billion in enemy account,to get a better return, than on the Russian Rubble

Hayashi was quoted by the ministry as saying the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific region "can never be discussed separately," alluding to attempts by Russia and China to alter the status quo in their respective regions by force or coercive means.

Of course, Japan is still super salty that China is now the dominant power in Asia.

Could Japan answer this - how has China threatened Japan in any way recently?

Perhaps, an actual investigation by the UN is required, as opposed to pronouncements by Zelenskyy that border on propaganda. He no more trustworthy than Putin or Biden. The suggestions that NATO investigate is of dubious merit.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

When you see the laughing faces of the above eestern politicians, you know the core instigation of this war : "NATO Eastward" has been working very well in their conspiracy as planned. The G7s condemning of Russia was so hypocritical and despicable!

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Meanwhile Japan has continue importing LPG from Russia's Sahalin island. Japan's body language is very honest to tell how much they were backing Russia's war! I wonder does Japan has enough "Rubles" to pay the Russian gas!

Putin's dire threats and invasion of neighbouring sovereign states are why countries in the region are turning towards NATO.

I am not an expert on the Ukraine-Russia conflict, but I do think the mainstream media is not telling the entire story. I have seen several horrific videos of Ukrainian soldiers mutilating and executing Russian soldiers. So, Ukraine is not totally innocent in this war either. I just want to know the full story.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Matthew Hopkins

2020 - Where will that trial be held. Not every country is a member of the ICC and if Putin is put on trial there he has to appear in person.

I very much doubt that Putin will be there. He would never go willingly and if he falls out of power, he's most likely dead.

Obviously, G7 ministers (judging from the photo) have no fear of Covid.

Is it the case that the three Cs only apply to the proletariat and not the elite?

The thing is Russia just consistently lies. They have released shots from computer games in the past to try deflect blame for certain actions. We can all clearly see how destroyed towns and cities are in Ukraine, yet Russia denies involvement. They have zero credibility to anyone unless you live in an alternate world. Russian forces are conducting illegal activities during an attempted take over of Ukraine, nothing you or your comrades say can change that FACT.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The other point being that we have huge amounts of photo, video and witness evidence of Russian actions to refer to, yet all Russia can come up with is a sketchy article in their state news outlets with nothing to back it up.
