Japan need to beg Chinese to come make shopping here in JAPAN. Hotel are empty!

-12 ( +8 / -20 )

Looks like Japan hasn't learned the risk of banking it all on Chinese money. So how would Chinese tourists be treated in Japan today? Welcomed by stores till their wallets are empty, and avoided by everyone else like the plague out of fear and prejudice.

Communist Chinas reckless actions have resulted in so many millions of sick, soon to be a million dead, economies wrecked, mass unemployment and a soon to be Depression.

Their reward? The freedom to enjoy international travel again.

Are they seriously considering lifting travel ban on China, the country where the corona virus originated? Japanese people must protect themselves from their own government.

almost all your mask are from china. you have a problem with that?

Covid-19 is a threat vector China has learnt it can deploy with impunity. Loose, loose for Japan as far as I can see.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Oh wouldn’t chairman of ANTA and China friend Nikai love that.

Japan, China to work toward restarting travel

the Abe regime knows no shame

they should start with the people with visas that still can't come back before they talk about china

14 ( +16 / -2 )

Keep the mainland Chinese out!!!

How many more Corona Virus do you want here in Japan???

8 ( +11 / -3 )

What game are they playing? Aren't we still in conflict concerning the South China Sea and the Senkaku islands dispute? US might be cursing right now if we really do this. US is hoping to gain Japan navy support to dominate the South China Sea along with Australia.

Despite the flight bans e.t.c during the last 3 months Chinese airlines have been flying to Osaka KIX.

Govt agency won't say why.

Don't trust the govt to do the right thing. Everyone is on their own in this crap

Why anyone would want to travel to China, and why Japan wants to allow people from China to enter their country, is beyond my ability to comprehend. As some suggested, it must have to do with money. I'm not going to give China any more money than I have to, and I certainly don't need their money. This is just silly.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

I for one, would love to go to China. I got ¥100000 from Abe, so I could spend it there to help build friendship and support restaurants that were severely affected by China’s total lockdowns. They were very harsh, but effective so the ordinary people need thanks.

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

Don't allow travel to and from China it is madness!!

7 ( +11 / -4 )

so they can spread the virus again?

7 ( +10 / -3 )

@YeahRight, i would say it concern businesses. Japan own a lot of companies operating in China. They need to send people down there sometimes to handle stuff. The supply chain has been badly battered these last few months. Is not only about the tourism but mostly because of the businesses. Japan also have many of their own people located in China. Either living or working there. Opening up the travel ban does allow both nation to ease up their badly hit economy.

But i do think right now isn't a good time for this. This comes at a very bad time when many other conflicts still hasn't been resolve between both nation.

This sounds like a joke. Firstly from health point of view this is absolutely a gambling with Japanese people life but secondly in last several months we all said China is our enemy and we must STOP to engage with this country. And suddenly I read this. I mean Japan must decide on which side  they want to be, you cannot be on both. It will be a pain for economy but there is no any other way. Otherwise we continue in our way to hell and China win again.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Both countries want to increase the number of flights for economy. it’s necessary.

Shifting manufacturers and supply chains to east south Asian countries are considered, taking lots of years though.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Cases are up in China and they are up in Japan too, so the conclusions is to allow travel between the two countries?

What are they teaching in Japanese schools these days?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

almost all your mask are from china. you have a problem with that?

Yes I have a problem with this. China cause all this virus mess by carelessness and gross negligence and now they just try to earn money on it. Hyenas

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Didn't Japan just record almost a 1000 new cases recently?

Remember how Japan banned travellers from other countries for recording 50 cases early this year?

Following that same logic, we should ban our selves from leaving the country to help prevent the spread.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I think everyone is working to restore travel no?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Economy vs Health. Japan never chooses one or the other. Which is more important? Ask your friends and you’ll get the tilt of the head. Sa...docchi darou...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The government is not even trying to be low-key anymore that they care more about money than human lives.

Btw, chasing Chinese money can be tempting in the short term, but we all know how the Chinese government is pretty shady in doing businesses. If you trigger them or step out of line once, they will try to hurt Japan economically. Just look at Korea and THAAD for a good example.

UK and Australia are also trying to be less reliant on Chinese money. I think Japan should follow as China has and still is a difficult business partner.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Why the hell would they do that? Let the planet heal for a moment before you bring back the chaos!

True. But you can say the exact same thing about every country. Except maybe NZ.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

@Reckless that is reckless talk.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

When the majority of Japanese locals up and down the nation are crying foul and the administration is not listening something major is going on behind the scenes as money deals are being sealed. Seems that many politicos have sold out Japan and the alliance.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Note to self: say away from the loud and yelling Chinese people.

Yelling can spread the virus.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

At this moment, there is more active cases of Covid in Japan than China.. not sure if it is smart for the Chinese to open the border.. and if they do, it will be reciprocal.. 2 tests and mandatory quarantine...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

@indigo "Japan need to beg Chinese.."

We need to "beg" that the Chinese will not come...

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Sucking up to China when many countries are distancing themselves.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

No. They ought to be one of the last countries allowed back in anywhere.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

I'm not going to get into the pro/anti China politics here.

However, it's still a dumb idea, unless you can restrict the travelling pool to a 1:1 reciprocal arrangement, for example 5,000 travellers either direction at a given time. Only then may it be remotely workable, BUT......

It only takes one for to create a whole load of extra headaches.....

2 ( +2 / -0 )

This government... not again...

0 ( +2 / -2 )

They need to really start streaming these meetings the Japanese government has among themselves.

We need to see where they come up with this stuff.

Are they trying to top one another by coming up with the worst ideas of the day, and see which one will anger the public the most?

Why are these fools representing us again?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Frankly, I would feel uneasy about going to China given the current political state and the pandemic, but given the choice, I'd rather Japan open up to visitors from China than USA. Doing the latter is like the kiss of death at the moment. I really don't want disease and virus coming from USA.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Fully agreeded but be clear abt convid virus safety. Save lives.
