Campbell described Emanuel to NBC as a "superstar" and an effective U.S. representative "serving with distinction".

What a laugh!

criticizes China in speech and social media post

While Japan try to improve relation with China.

It's really hit hard for some region in Japan

Before speaking he posted four pictures on social media platform X that he said were Chinese vessels "fishing for the same fish embargoed by China".

The Chinese are two faced liars. I love it when somebody documents their duplicity.

23 ( +31 / -8 )

And yet he is not wrong. China’s hypocrisy over the seafood ban is plain for all to see, just ask them for independently monitored data on radionuclide measurements off any of their nuclear plants. You won’t get an answer. If he is right and they are fishing near to Japan for the very products banned they need to be internationally and very publicly shamed.

I love this man. In a totally non-romantic way of course.

6 ( +20 / -14 )

Nothing surprising about the pathetic rhetoric of another member of the democrat circus... LOL !!..

-13 ( +11 / -24 )

Senkaku/Diaoyu are off the coast of Taiwan.

The Chinese are two faced liars.

"Economic coercion by China is their most persistent and pernicious tool in their toolbox," he said during a speech in Tokyo.

Too true, but whose toolbox did the Chinese steal that playbook from? Rahm's just playing cute as a diplomat 'cos he could have added a little more to let the innocent and naive in on that mystery, but then, as an American from the Chicago school, well-versed in backroom shenanigans, his toolbox is stuffed with all that any devious diplomat playing pot and kettle might need.

Emmanuel is spot on again.

Apparently the fish the Japanese catch in the area are now "dangerous" - yet those caught by Chinese fishermen in basically the same area are safe!

The hypocrisy of pathetic Communist China needs to be called out.

Emmanual can make fun of China all that he wants now but come 2024 after the presidential elections the world will be laughing at America when riots will break out!

Also when Trump comes back into power he will put Japan back into their original position of being puppets and build better relations with China because he knows the importance of doing business with China. His daughters Ivankas fashion line is all manufactured in China as well. Trump will make the economy better by not getting into petty fights with China and all will be back to normal.

As for the seafood imports ban that China have placed against Japan, every country has a right to do that because the slimy Tepco and Japanese Government are to blame for this. China bashers who blame China for this are idiots because this is the fault of Tepco and the Japanese Government who keep making the life of Fukushima people unlivable! Instead of blaming China for everything take a look at the pathetic life you are living because of your own actions.

It wasn't enough for this administration to antagonize Russia.

-15 ( +6 / -21 )

Responding to Emanuel's remarks on Fukushima, China's foreign ministry said the ambassador should stop favoring Japan's "irresponsible" behavior.

The only nation displaying "irresponsible" behavior is China. And the entire world knows it.

12 ( +21 / -9 )

Love it when a man speaks for what it is. Of course, most every country uses trade relations as a negotiation tool. But China does so for indiscriminate reasons. What does it expect to achieve by banning Fukushima fish, particularly given their abysmal record in food safety? (Google "gutter oil.") It is ironic that many Chinese travel to Japan specifically to buy food, particularly baby formula.

It's literally an economic speech. Is that going to be the new justification for war by China?

5 ( +12 / -7 )

Rahm Emanuel is a politician or a diplomat?

If be wants to shoot off his mouth and tweets then he should iIt his job in Japan

-7 ( +7 / -14 )

It's literally an economic speech. Is that going to be the new justification for war by China?

Yeah, like no wars have origins in economics.

There is a misprint in the headline to this article.

agains criticizes is incorrect.

again criticizes is correct.

Moderator: Thank you. It has been corrected.

How does he know China is fishing for the same fish? They were just near Japanese waters, not fishing for fish in Japanese waters. China was responsibly fishing for safer non-radioactive fish. And, as for Li, for all we know Japan or America could've kidnapped him. In reality, he probably just took some personal leave for a much needed vacation. Rahm is just trying to get himself in the news.

-13 ( +5 / -18 )

Remember, Emanuel is the guy who famously said: “Never let a crisis go to waste”. Japan should take his advice with a grain of salt.

So, the "dangerous" radioactive fish have an invisible border, do they? The "non-radioactive fish" (hilarious) the Chinese are fishing for know not to cross into the "dangerous" area?

Please, tell us more! This is comedy gold!

9 ( +15 / -6 )

Say it like it is, Rahm! Say it like it is!

4 ( +10 / -6 )

Basically china shot their own foot by banning Japanese seafood since this creates a shortage of seafood in their restaurants. And now they want to catch fish in Japanese waters to make up for the fact that they (the chinazis) screwed up with the ban.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

If you pivot to the low hanging fruit of China bashing, it just shows how good the relations are between Japan and the USA that there is nothing to add. He's got to say something for the position he is in. Hes got a nice cushy job but one boring as hell as Japan and USA are best buddies.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

@Jim. Are you sure he will?

3 ( +8 / -5 )

How's your dear friend Senator Bob Menendez doing, Rahm?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

What a waste of tax payer's money. Obviously he has non thing to do in his day's job, as ambassador of USA in Japan.

He has time to talk about a 3rd country, which has its own American ambassador. All round waste of tax dollar.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Rahm Emanuel, the U.S. ambassador to Japan, took fresh aim at China on Friday over coercing its neighbors, posted pictures of Chinese boats he said were fishing near Japan despite a seafood ban and noted China's defense minister was still missing.

I love how the CCP operates when being directed to their own brain damage. Examples galore ^^^.

If the ambassador to China did it, China would probably abduct him.

Trump never antagonized China?? Is your memory so poor that you don't remember him saying 'the Kung Flu' and 'the China Flu'. Trump levied billions of dollars of tariffs on Chinese goods but kept bank accounts in China and let his daughter continue to manufacture her clothes there while criticizing others for doing the same. You don't have a clue.

I'd agree that TEPCO and Japan are responsible for the Fukushima situation but that's not the point is it. The point is that China bans Japanese seafood yet still takes fish from the same water where Japanese seafood comes from.

U.S. ambassador to Japan again criticizes China in speech and social media post

That's great but criticizing China is easy.

Lets hear him criticize America or Japan. Those are also easy. But of course some people are in the grasp of tribalism, an affliction more akin to a neanderthal than a human. Also there is spinelessness. But we must not discount the Machiavellianism of being on the take. So which is his problem?

Apparently standing up to your precious china's bullying is called "antagonizing china"

And Trump wasn't wrong. The chinazis kept it hidden for months that the Wuhan virus came from there. As s result of this cowardice, millions died. Including children.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The original cause was that China, as a political card, embargoed Japanese seafood without any scientific basis.

Even if Japan releases treated water, there will be no impact on seafood imported by China.

Just like with rare earths and coal, policies change depending on the mood of the Chinese Communist Party.

If you deal with it all the time, it's just a waste of time.

What the Japanese government needs to do is limit the damage caused by rumors in China and look for new sales channels.

I wrote this before and it has since been deleted, but I don't care what the American ambassador to Japan says, but it does matter to Japan that the Russian ambassador to Japan keeps making anti-Japanese posts on social media.

However, why do we intentionally not broadcast news that would be detrimental to Russia and China?

What I wrote was in response to a post that claimed Trump was always cozy and nice with China and that if he's reelected, relations would improve. I called BS on it. I know it's hard for you but try to keep up.

He has only an agenda of antagonizing China

Get rid of Emmanuel and replace him with someone more condusive to problem solving

Getting rid of the Chinese Communist Party would solve a lot more problems: for both Chinese and non-Chinese people.

Emmanuels many lovers, count me in!

Some cahunas in the game, and a bit of a comic too. Nothing drives authoritarians crazier that a good laugh.

Doit, to it Mr Ambassador!

The only thing the CCP accepts is surrender so not much point in taking China into consideration when selecting ambassadors.

Emanuel misses Li!

What a revelation!
