I do not have his email address and what did that American General call the people of Okinawa again? I doubt they would read the email, straight to the gomi!

Finland, Costa Rica, and Switzerland all have well funded, well armed, and proportionally large military forces...

Hate to break this to you, but Costa Rica abolished its military in 1949 and has co-existed peacefully with its neighbors ever since.

Keep your talking and soon there will be no American bases at all in Japan and Japan will become neutral.

Neutrality must be perserved through a well maintained, large military so unless the people of Japan are willing to spend the billions, if not trillions, necessary to arm themselves and devote hundreds of thousands of men and women to bolster such a military's ranks the U.S bases are here to stay. Finland, Costa Rica, and Switzerland all have well funded, well armed, and proportionally large military forces saying you won't attack is one thing. Convincing others not to attack you is another entierly.

YuriOtani, you posted a viable solution. Instead of telling us, you should try to contact Lt. General Rice, the USFJ(U.S. Forces of Japan) Commander. Maybe he'll listen to you because many posters here won't.

Keep your talking and soon there will be no American bases at all in Japan and Japan will become neutral. The harder you squeeze the more will slip through your fingers. Just drop MCAS Futenma and stop putting pressure on your alliance partner. Accept the loss of your base and move on. How about basing a certain amount of the helicopters on each base? I know there are helipads there. Have the heavy maintenance done at Kadena AFB on the Navy side.

Since Japan is a sovereign nation, it should make the determination whether it wants foreign troops on their soil. We have troops in over 130 countries and eliminating a majority of those countries, we could save our country a lot of money and provide more security on our own borders.

Japan has saved a fortune by not having to support a full fledged military program,,,thanks to the US. Nobody talks about how uch more it would cost Japan to have their own military in contrast to providing support for a foreign military that will defend Japan. People like to sensationalize the (small) crime rate of the US Military, but if Japan were in danger, it would be those same young men and women who would be bleeding and dying to protect the Japanese way of life...
