China can laugh all the way to the bank now thanks to Trump ceded leadership and the billions to be made on renewable energy. China will be investing more than 360 billion into renewables.
USA business was late to the party already with successful European and others, but the Trump covfefe has ruined their brand.

Trump's cabinet members are as delusional as he is.
John Brown
"I hope China will step in and attempt to take the mantle away."
Take the mantle from whom? Trump gave it up!
[it has led the effort in tackling carbon reduction and clean coal technology, will continue to be a leader in developing clean energy and its technology.]
What about anything other than coal? Like solar and wind? Much cleaner than coal PERIOD
and does not have the nasty habit of trying to do a nuclear melt down.
I thought Trump said he wanted the world to stop laughing at us. So why does he and others of his ilk keep opening their mouths?

The problem is that we have increased CO2 levels in our atmosphere, while at the same time stripping forests that convert this CO2 to oxygen. Plants most definitely need CO2, and in fact thrive at high levels. But when you have more CO2 than the plants can process, it results in a buildup of CO2 in our atmosphere.
Wolfpack
Yes, really. Even Al Gore knows that plants need CO2. But I guess if I didn't vote for Hillary I cannot possible understand science - please enlighten me as to how plant life as we know it on Earth exists without CO2?
No I don't believe in big government.
ThePBot
Ah Rick Perry, the current chief of the very same department he wanted to abolish.

I'm no fan of Perry, but I hope you do realize that the Onion quote is satire.

Cleaning up the climate?
The largest polluter? Well, the US emits more CO2 than any other country but CO2 is not pollution - it is essential for life on the planet. The US has by far the largest GDP in the world but is not the largest emitter of CO2. China announced that they would build hundreds of coal power plants - then a while later stated that they would not build a fraction of the previously announced number. But they are still going to build hundreds and hundreds of them. As for solar, governments at multiple levels in America are subsidizing solar power to the tune of billions every year. Do you work for China's propaganda agency?
Well actually he has run a state with a GDP larger than most countries. But don't let that stop you from getting in a cheap shot.

Has Ricky ever run anything? Certainly not the polls, cuz he's a Trump bootlicker now.

@Sangetsu The USA is still the biggest polluter per capita in the world. Rag on China all you want, but they have recently cancelled construction of over 100 new coal fired plants & plan to invest over US$300 billion in renewables by 2020. Meanwhile, the USA is actively fighting against the likes of rooftop solar.
Take it from someone who works in the energy industry, China is currently much more of a leader than the USA on energy policy. China will create over new 13 million jobs with this investment, whereas Trump is fighting to save a few thousand coal jobs (at the expense of several times that number of jobs which the USA could create by moving to solar and wind). Trump pulling out of Paris will only allow China to become more of a leader and it won't be their economy which suffers.
sangetsu03
China has not been a "leader" on climate or pollution. The Paris agreement gave China a decade-and-a-half to continue to pollute as they like, while at the same time receiving vast subsidies from the developed countries in the agreement. What Perry means is that China should be focusing on it's pollution here and now, since China can no longer capitalize on the Paris agreement, which would have sent huge numbers of manufacturing jobs China's way (in addition to billions in subsidies).
BertieWooster
I see. That's why all the fracking is going on.
Pity about the pollution it leaves in its wake.

Perry is another of the big energy lackeys in Trump'ss administration. With Qatar feuding with its GCC partners, the nations and corporations that control the petrodollar/petroruble economy are putting the world at even greater risk. How are Perry and RExxon Tillerson going to handle the Qatar rift with its GCC partners? Will Qatar side with Iran and Russia and combine to dominate natural gas production? Trump just made a weapons deal with Saudi, Qatar's neighbor and fellow Wahhabi followers. The most volatile area in the world is now even more vulnerable. And Trump'ss the leader of the world's largest military?

Danger Will Robinson! Danger! U.S. energy chief reassures Japan of commitment to environment..., by the U.S. pulling out of the most vital accord that basically the whole world agreed to. Brilliant!
If the US government truly treated the environment as they treat damage control in the White House, we would have clean air and water by now and the ozone layer would be back to normal.

Just try saying US Department of Energy chief Rick Perry without a guffaw. As the Onion recently reported :
