As both Japan and China (also others) to some extent share a common Oriental heritage, peaceful negotiations should take priority over military posturing . . . .

American and Japanese militarization is tantamount to the survival of democracy and geography as we know it in the region. Without it, the CCP will simply rewrite maps and take over real countries like Taiwan in their unveiled attempt at world domination. It is important that Japan view the Philippines as equals in this trilateral unification, as they historically tend to look down on the country and make things difficult for the talented entertainers they export to Japan. United, the Philippines. Japan and the US will repel both passive aggressive and illegal and aggressive advances of the CCP in the region.

Race has absolutely nothing to do with it. The issue is that Japan wants rule of law, but China wants to dominate everyone and steal their territory.

Playing the race card is a standard line of CCP propaganda.

While Japan and China are geographically close and share some history you could hardly find two more distinctly different societies than 21st Century China and 21st Century Japan. The nature of their people are completely different.

As with Taiwan, Japan needs to make plans on becoming a “prickly pear”.

Ancient history and irrelevant in 2024. Japan has infinitely more in common with fellow democracies and freedom loving nations the USA, UK, Australia etc.

Rahm Emanuel said U.S. allies in the Indo-Pacific region were coming together in the face of China's "coercion" and Beijing would end up isolated.

Brilliantly stated by Emmanuel. I like this guy - he's tough. The ultimate goal should be to isolate Communist China in terms of allies and military scope - and starve them of essential resources as much as possible.

In South Korea, I assume that it is the U.S forces that are under the command of the South Korean forces; but in Japan it is the JSDF that are under the command of the U.S. forces that are themselves under the command of the more powerful U.S. Pacific Command.

Ambassador Emmanuel says a four-star general of USFJ will be replaced by a five-star general with power supposedly on a par with the head of the Pacific Command, who is assumed to control JSDF rather more directly.

Hmhm, this is a USFJ transformation now under consideration which Emmanuel is talking about.

Well, what does it all mean to Okinawa, that is forced to shoulder the most burden in all Japan of hosting U.S. bases?

@voiceofokinawa

The Combined Forces Command of South Korea is under the command of an American General.

I don’t know how much these measures have worked / will work. I only know that China’s an ill mannered bully and needs to be brought in line. I don’t say this to the nice Chinese common people , but to their leadership and Winnie the Pooh in particular

warmongering is not nice...we need peace dont need any war here

Peace is easy - there is even a proposed peace plan.

Russia does not want peace, and therefore rejected the peace plan.

Russia can go home tomorrow, and there will be peace.
