Shame on Japanese people to keep on electing these LDP good-for-nothings.

LDP members are there to only maintain their & their friends & clans positions dominance

LOL @ Ganbare... total satire!

The sinking public support is dampening Abe's hopes of winning a third term as leader of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in a September vote he must win to stay in office, and has triggered speculation he may step down sooner.

Man, if Abe and Aso go, I'm holding a nomikai and inviting ALL posters on this site- even those that don't like me. Seriously. That's how much I want those two twits out.

Abe certainly looks under stress.

How on Earth is Aso still around? The man makes Ishihara look like a lightweight when it comes to saying stupid things.

Pure and unadulterated nepotism.

as much use as a chocolate teapot

Hey, those can be quite delicious! I lump them in with chocolate bunnies in terms of usefulness.

Abe is a Washington lap dog. Get rid of him and regain Japans sovereignty...

I do not like Abe and hope he gets replaced soon, but I do not think he is a "Washington lap dog." He is smart enough only to look like one till he gets a real military by changing the constitution.

"After the problem is clarified, I want him to take the lead to prevent recurrences and work to regain trust."

Japanese politicians are such a joke! It's like they don't even try to hide their incompetence, or the fact that they don't care and can't be bothered to word things better. Yes, by all means, put the person responsible and "in the lead" for the scandal, in the lead and to regain the trust you KNOW he will never get again, if he ever had.

Great pic to go with the story, at least, and if there IS one thing that'll force Aso to quit, it'll be the PM watching his support and his dream of changing the Constitution drop as a result of Aso clinging on. That's why Fukuda eventually had to leave; cause it was dragging on Aso. The sad part is Aso will then use it as a chance to run against Abe.

To those who woul oust Abe, what are you expecting to happen?

Some other semi-competent hack to take over and the LDP administration to stumble along in pretty much the same fashion it always has. I don't mind this if it means getting rid of Abe.

Does cronyism = corrupt?

Good. Very good. Any bad press about abe that serves to put him in his place makes me extremely happy. Let him suffer some more and then some.

Abe, 63, quit abruptly in 2007 after a year in office dogged by cabinet scandals, a hung Diet, and ill-health.

He can use the same excuse again and say he has the runs, so he has to run.

They really are making you guys earn that money.

PM Abe must handle opposition vicious propaganda against him with courage and determination . Do not allow them to succeed in their designs to overthrow the established government by levelling all sorts of fictitious allegations to create doubts in the minds of public and erode the popularity ratings with the help of their friends in the media under a well orchestrated vested strategy.

Asked about the calls for Aso to quit, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters, "After the problem is clarified, I want him to take the lead to prevent recurrences and work to regain trust."

It appears Suga-san is also part of the problem!

Stay on the Course, Prime Minister

If that course is enriching his chums & failure, you may get your wish.

He topped the list of LDP lawmakers whom party supporters want to see as premier, the Yomiuri poll showed, but his support slipped to 47 percent from 53 percent in a previous survey.

PM Abe, still the most popular choice as PM. Stay on the course, Prime Minister, economy is ticking along, you had a major Victory in forcing Kim to halt Nuclear Testing, good result in Summit in Mar a Largo, and there is more work to do. Stay on the Course.

The contrast between Abe and Trump is amusing.

Abe gets off by setting up schools for friends.

Trump gets off on dealings with adult video starlets.

Abe is such a square!

Aso is another story

I don’t have any objections to Abe stepping down personally, as I’ve never had a sense that he was any more than a puppet for right wing factions.

But who, in either party, actually has a chance of holding the government together?

We saw what happened in the years between Koizumi and Abe: a whole lot of nothing.

The economy is mildly better than it has been in 15 years (my opinion). There have been scandals, yes, but far fewer (in my opinion) than in the US, and about in par with the UK and EU.

To those who woul oust Abe, what are you expecting to happen?

Which Ishihara, unfortunately there are 3? then there is Ishiba...Aso more than a century. i rust mainichi more than yomori, as the later is in abe's hands.

And he brought nothing back from his trip to Mar a Lago.

You have to know when to throw the towel.
