With record low approval ratings, Kishida is like a gambler who already has lost too much. He’s hoping to win big and take it all back by holding a summit meeting with Kim and buying back a couple of abductees with a promise of massive economic aid to the dictator.

A failure to provide any tangible wins from engaging with a nuclear-armed state that has continued to launch missiles into waters surrounding Japan could hurt Kishida's already low domestic approval ratings.

the purpose of the visit is completely different. and they won’t tell us about it. Kisida needs to stop by the seven-eleven store and buy a beskit cake in order to drink tea
