China's need to constantly remind their people that their ills stemmed from Japanese invasion is more telling that their economy is extremely fragile. Meanwhile their government crooks are probably moving millions into other countries. What they don't realize is that the west would see this as sign to short on all Chinese investments.

I was just in Fukuoka. Their economy is really benefiting from money spent by Chinese and Korean tourists....really.

Soon too shall the Red Blazen Sun rise amongst the peoples of Japan and bring its neighbor to tremble with fear.

I doubt Japan can be subdued by a military parade. Why not hold the military display parade in inner Mongolia, Uighur province, Tibet or Manchuria to show the people of occupied lands that they have no independent future?

Bullying and intimidation, china grow up, you continue to provoke and antagonise, you will never ever get the apology you demand year after year by doing this,

You inferiority complex is shining through your disguise.

and to think that it all started because some idiot Tokyo Governor wanted to buy the islands and nationalise them.

'....a more assertive Japan...' is a direct result of China's recent bullying behavior.

Let's see what is that quote, oh yeah: Me thinks China doth complain too much.

China = Little Man Syndrome.

If their weapons are like their products - industrial garbage - then China is a lot of roar and nothing else.

Military budgeting has entered a new and mind-boggling reality for the CCP. In an environment of shrinking growth rates in the national economy, budgeting now needs to focus away from military aspirations and more and more on social programs, if only to keep the populace quiescent. Any Chinese dreams of great power projection through a carrier task force deployment in the South China Sea have long ago faded. As the economy continues to slow to a dead-stop, the PRC is poised on the cliff of its eventual disintegration into its constituent parts.

Now compelled to appear before Obama later this year to answer for his provocative acts in the South China Sea and the East China Sea, Xi must content himself with knowing the Chinese navy is visibly bigger than Japan’s, but that this represents nothing more than a quantitative fact and not a qualitative advantage. During the Battle of the Senkakus, scheduled for 2017, the Chinese Navy will sink below the waves under superior Japanese might and know-how. Prior to this event, Xi is forced to accept the fact that, for the foreseeable future, his navy will remain less than half the size and with much less technological capability than that of the U.S. Navy.

The end has arrived for the PRC. 2017 is a date etched deep on the CCP’s tomb stone.

What would Japan do, quaver in fear? The Peoples Republic of China wants war and the only thing Japan can do is prepare for it.

If China would just not do this, then it'll break the escalation cycle. But instead, they're upping the ante. China is not blameless - it takes two to tango.

You stay classy China, celebrating your "peaceful rise" with a show of force.

The headline is wrong. Xi has his eyes on America, but Abe plays into Xi's hands by giving the Chinese a good rationale to flex muscles.

Show of military parades can not overawe any country . Japan and other countries of the region must become strong day by day to maintain peace in the region which is the need of the hour and must promote strong regional cooperation among themselves.

Will they bring out the miniskirted lady soldiers?

What a joke that the world has already forgotten about ww2. We are meant to put a stop to these wars from taking place.

China says they want peace, but yet keep holding massive, threatening military parades, threatening Japan and their neighbors.

China says they want peace but yet again have thumped there military budget up, whey threatening everyone. It's time 2 make a stand.

We need a strategy that forces them to stop it, and a strategy that will not crush the world markets. That strategy is this.

I would sit down with world leader and target there.

Threaten them with this if they pull their money out of America and west markets.

I would also then force them to stop keeping the inflation of their dollar lower. That will see their dollar's rise and the cost of goods rise. Everyone will slowly start moving to India now. As they movie 2 India over the coming years, they will still be in china but preparing / building in India over the next year or 2 "because it's cheaper" now.

The time to act is now.... If not millions, of 100drs of millions of people will 100% die in the future.

China. Once considered inferior by Japan and the west. Now a global economic powerhouse able to finance its military and show it off. I aint pro China. This is just something we all must get used to. Especially Japan

China has military parades, Japan has protest parades.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

China may have a revengeful feeling against Japan that invaded the country and looked down upon the people in the past. What goes around comes around.

"Military parades are also aimed at sending a message to neighbor Japan" - article

Message received, parades amuse imbeciles, we get it.

Maybe try applying the cost of the parades to the People’s Republic of poor and starving before the imbeciles parade to taunt a tiny island nation committed to peaceful and dynamic contribution to the welfare of all the people's of the earth.

China, we crush the small and make a parade about it? Parades, a step up from drumming bones on the rib cages of the vanquished, how civilized. Are the Chinese really this primitive? Military Parades? Comical.

Strictly for internal consumption. Flags keep the minions happy.

Suggest that Japan organize a major scale Peace Parade in Tokyo on August 15, inviting participants from all over the world and especially Asia.

Pardon my cynicism but I think Xi and his friends have their eye firmly on the billions they are stashing away. The reason he's taken control of the PLA is so that they don't do anything stupid which might interfere. I suspect the increasing number of PLA parades is probably down to something as simple and petty as some PLA general's relatives starting their own private security company that will police the parades. We tend to overestimate these people.

Leader with Head of a Lion but tail of a mouse

Military parades were phenomenon of the past. Dictators like parades. Mao had parades every month so does Kim Chung-In. They are paper tigers.****

Well done Mr Abe, for creating peace and goodwill amongst the neighbours (sarcasm).

So? To Japan, ignore them, ^.
