Have women in Japan started having sex again? No one told me.

46 ( +51 / -10 )

Not being eligible to vote has a positive side after all

16 ( +17 / -1 )

Not much of a threat when you consider most Japanese women don't have sex with their husbands anyway

31 ( +36 / -9 )

Masuzoe has the backing of the conservative ruling party of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

What with the endorsement of those NHK nutters and now this idiot, Abe's certainly been having a flutter on a few dodgy horses lately.

16 ( +17 / -1 )

It sounds bizarre but they have a good valid point. Go ladies(and also gentlemen), boycott that old sexist political clown.

17 ( +20 / -4 )

“Women are not normal when they are having a period… You can’t possibly let them make critical decisions about the country (during their period) such as whether or not to go to war,” he said. These are the words of someone running for political office. I'm beginning to understand why found Japan easier to take than my wife.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

A promising indication that Japanese are beginning to take more notice of the political process and wanting to participate - 'real' democracy may come to Japan after all.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Confucious say "Wife who put husband in dog house later find him in cat house!"

I suggest these women will catch more bees with honey. I am not voting for Masuzoe. But if I were, I and many men could easily be persuaded not to if we were to get extra. Which of course explains why men are also unfit for government!

11 ( +16 / -5 )

The minute you get married that is the last minute you get sex regularly and if you and your wife have a baby, well then you can forget about it completely.

So, the women threatening their husbands best try something other than sex.

6 ( +9 / -4 )

So if this guy gets elected nobody will be having less sex.

I like the idea of sex for votes though, sounds like a good ploy.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Apparently nobody's doing it in japan anyway so that's kind of a hollow threat.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

1989??

OK, we're going to need a statute of limitations on stupid comments.

How many people here would be immediately disqualified from public life if someone were to scrutinize every public comment we've made over the last 25 years?

Seriously, there needs to be a line drawn here or democracy is absolutely doomed. In 5 years the only people running for office will be people who have completely shunned technology or become extremely adept at covering their tracks.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

In 1989, he told a

Great, so you quoted him from 25 years ago, Has he said anything about it since? If he still has the same opinion then that is a different story

before getting involved in politics in 2001,

So he got into politics 12 years after making that stupid sexist quote, surely he has changed his views since then???

3 ( +7 / -4 )

His big mouth was his biggest downfall.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Wow, Lysistrata in Japan! A replay of a a very old script...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

is it only my perception, or is it true: japan has the highest rate of total idiots in prominent government positions

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Dig deep enough and will find something bad to tell about anyone running for governor! This claim is over 20 years ago.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Nobody probably wants to even touch these broads anyway.

Let them have their silly little delusion of power.

-12 ( +5 / -17 )

Not much of a threat when you consider most Japanese women don't have sex with their husbands anyway

Maybe it means not giving him money from his own salary, that she has purloined anyway, to go to his usual pinku.

How will they know who their husband has voted for anyway? 'No dear, I voted for the other one. Can I have my pink allowance now, please?'

0 ( +1 / -1 )

ProbieFEB. 08, 2014 - 05:37PM JST Nobody probably wants to even touch these broads anyway. Let them have their silly little delusion of power.

Damn, someone got up on the wrong side of bed this morning. The snow froze your arteries?

Exactly, as the people of Tokyo they have power - and hallelujah for that cause it's always been corporations, borakudan, and old farmers that have held influence and power in this city.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Men need to stick to their principles, vote for Masuzoe, and lie about it to their wives, lovers, secretaries, help and girlfriends.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

I would have thought that idiocy also prevented people from being suitable in public office.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

If they promise sex, then more people would vote. But take a picture in the booth, so ya can prove it.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The minute you get married that is the last minute you get sex regularly

Speak for yourself

What if all the 3000 twitters' were the prostitutes, and not the wives, as all you seem to assume? Hmmmm

2 ( +3 / -1 )

He has the backing of Abe's conservatives. What do you expect?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Wouldn't it have been better to start a feminine centric party, promote a candidate, and then say no sex unless you vote for our guy. Also holding a grudge from1989 seams like a LONG time to hold on to something (a stereotype I thought women would want to extinguish)....

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

All 16 candidates in the poll are men, with many of them aged in their 60s or older.

Describes the state of Japan perfectly and I can't believe there are some people who see nothing wrong with this.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

God forbid he wins... What the heck is the world going to think of Tokyo and Japan if he does?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I like Funnybatter's post about not having sex with her husbands, but possibly it was not their husbands they are referring to. As for this old creep's comments, I'm not sure if Margaret Thatcher or Julia Gillard would agree with him. He's just another Japanese 'jiji' politician.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Japan needs a Margret Thatcher!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Japan needs a Margret Thatcher!

Yes and no.

Yes, she was strong, stood up for what she believed and dragged the UK out of the darkness of the 70s. No because she'll turn people against each other.

I do get your point though... Japan needs someone with steel to slap these old gits down and show them that women are not second class citizens, fit only for sex, baby raising and cooking. This bozo the online protests are against is one such moron who needs booted into touch.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Japan already has a declining birth rate, Now, no sex for any guy who votes for this old windbag "jiji". Don't worry Kaori Georges of what the world is going to think if he gets elected. We all know that Japan is run by career public servants, and that these old "Jiji" politicians who get elected don't mean a darn thing.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Interesting. How will a woman know if her man voted for Masuzoe? Surely, she doesn't expect him to be truthful and miss out on all that great sex. ;-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have to say that what he said is insane but he speaks from the knowledge of Japanese women which makes him not so insane as I find that most Japanese can not turn off their feelings for the moment and actually think about consequences. "They made me angry", "the child would not stop crying" and most Japanese are entirely selfish thinking. I am the center of the world and if it does not please me I need to get rid of it. Never thinking that there are consequences to their actions. I have found that most can not relate to action and consequence. This is a problem with the school system and the teachers and the entire Japanese way of things. The one who says sex is over after marriage needs to look at himself. Sex is only over if you are a jerk and not loving your wife. sex is over if you treat them as the Japanese man treats them. I do not care if I am voted down. Truth is truth and Japanese women need to be respected and held down by a man that thinks they are inferior because they have period. Give me a break. Masuzoe is a tyrant.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I know something's off about Masuzoe!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

1989?? OK, we're going to need a statute of limitations on stupid comments.

Why ? Science has shown that women stop having periods after a while. But as Matsuzoe has passed the age to get educated, his intellectual limitation is permanent. And associating with Abe shows he's even at the greater level of insanity than at the time of his comment. So, guys like them deciding about wars ? We know what that gives as that has already happened so many times in the past. Or even recently... Elect this macho, and next Summer, you'll hear Tokyo plans to buy the Sakhalines or Taiwan to get them back into Japan.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I think what's interesting about the upcoming Tokyo governor elections is you have all those national issues of Japan compressed into the 23 wards of Tokyo itself. The result: electioneering that must spike the sales of every newspaper in the Tokyo area to way above normal. By the way, the article did not point out that Masuzoe-san has the support of the LDP and many in the DPJ, and gives him a lot of clout in this election, like it or not.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Masuzoe's controversial remarks may be dated, but not forgotten, and don't expect him to have mended or reset his mindset.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

So maybe women are irrational once a month. Masuzoe is irrational at every moment.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sorry ,I meant to say that Japanese women need to be respected and NOT be held down . Women need to be respected. This tyrant which is part of the Abe revolution, needs to be put down. I can not tolerate a man who has no respect for women. But not respecting a woman is the Japanese way and I am supposed to accept the Japanese way because I am in Japan. I never respect the repulsive ways of any society. If you want respect, show respect. The Japanese women never have sex because they do not know who their so called man has had sex with. The custom of sex for business is archaic as is the Japanese way. let japan actually enter the civilized world and not think women are slaves. I am not a feminist but think and believe that that women are more than objects and are equal in every respect. What if every Japanese woman decided not to make bento? I have never seen such a society that had such small respect for women. I have lived here for 4 years and concluded that I am in the 15th century from toilets to women's rights. This is a feudal society and I hope they become liberated from this archaic way of life. Have a good day and love your neighbor as your self.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I bet he DOESN'T have a binder full of women.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Arguably, Japan is one of the few places in this world, where rotten sexists like this one can get away with saying such thing. Throughout the history and today, women have proven of being able to be successful politicians. A famous example would be Margaret Thatcher a.k.a. the Iron Lady, who successfully transformed UK's economy and ensured it's position as one of the financial centers in the world. Another example is Sarah Palin, who was a governor of Alaska and ran for a president of the USA. Her political views might not be shared by everyone, but nether less she's amazing person. Then there's current president of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaite, who won presidential elections by one of the highest margins. She's not married, has no children, is not a member of any political party, and has a black belt in karate.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

There's not many places in the world where a guy like this can say what he said, and not be drummed out by his peers. Unfortunately, the old boys club in Japan has not changed at all.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

“Women are not normal when they are having a period… You can’t possibly let them make critical decisions about the country (during their period) such as whether or not to go to war,” he said.

Taking his words, a woman would be "dangerous" only 3 days a months. That is definitely much better than this guy! 24/7/365 dangerousness!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Supported by Abe. No problem since Abe is only bleeding from his a.hole as I was told by Japantoday a couple of days ago.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Masuzoe, you are a typical Japanese male idiot politician.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Masuzoe is a right wing joker of the Abe kind.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

That's the thing about democracy. The guy is entitled to his opinion however unpopular it may be.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow. So the sexist pig made a comment like that and he's still running? Any other democratic country, and he'd have bowed out of the running in disgrace. This isn't the 50's Masuzoe-kun. That kind of belief won't fly any more. Drop out of the election campaign, take some time to think about what you've done, join the 21st century, then make a sincere public apology on national television. Or commit Seppuku. Either way is fine. I have no patience for chauvanism.

And threatening a sex boycott? Low blow, but I should imagine very effective. Maybe. I guess it depends if these men being boycotted are good men or just dogs. I know too many of the latter and too few of the former. Of course, a good man wouldn't vote for Masuzoe-kun anyway.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

join the 21st century

1989 is not the 21st century.

Of course, a good man wouldn't vote for Masuzoe-kun anyway.

And thus we throw the baby out with the bathwater.

In the midst of a divorce 25 years ago he made a really bitter comment about the opposite sex. As you do. And because of that everything he's said or done in the last 25 years is erased.

Here's where I'm getting a good laugh out of this: All of the indignant people on the supposed left turning their backs on this guy are shooting themselves in the foot. Masuzoe's political record over the last 25 years have him one of the most vocal critics of Abe across the board. He is THE expert on welfare issues, especially relating to the elderly, and has been for over a decade. He's a strong supporter of labor. He is, in a nutshell, your man. He's on the left, socially if not fiscally.

BUT HE SAID A NAUGHTY WORD ONCE UPON A TIME! BRAND HIM! CAST HIM OUT!

Yep. Enjoy your new Koizumi backed governor. He's the one standing further right than Abe, holding the "no nukes" sign to make y'all feel better. Maybe next time you won't let yourselves get played so easily.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Respect women of Japan. They are among one of the the most beautiful in the world.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I didnt vote for Masuzoe!! so what's my wife's excuse!!!?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I wonder what Mrs Abe wlll react on this movement, Her nickname is Domestic Opposition Party.

Maybe none Japanese women have different bodies. Their menopause must come after 60. Hilary? Thatcher?

BTW, what kind of reaction Domestic Opposition Party (nick name of Akie Abe) will have? How about Abe? They are from Kaka-a denka family.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Way too much is being made of his comment made decades ago. Its almost as if PMS was some myth made up just to insult women.

I fully recognize we all have our problems. I also know that not all women suffer from PMS. And I know that PMS is manageable enough that it does not disqualify any woman from government, particularly since so many politicians are past the age of menopause anyway. But I am afraid that denial of physiological fact does not endear me to anyone.

PMS is real and I would sooner hear arguments why women can deal with it than to tip-toe around it as if it does not exist.

But anyway, yeah, he said the wrong thing some decades ago. But some people suggest we move on from WWII while Abe just visited Yasukuni some weeks ago.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

1989 is not the 21st century.

It's 2014 now, I don't know if anyone's pointed that out to you. I'm saying that Masuzoe should join the 21st century. The present day and age, where sexism is unacceptable.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Maybe Masuzoe learns what is menopause so that he can declare he did not know what it is, then he can join 21st Century. He shouldn't embarrass LDP people who have been degraded by NHK big shots. He needs to check all of his past comments because these women will dig up and will create more hussle. One thing is for sure, they will not declare if anyone who vote to Masuzoe will be sexed by them. Maybe LDP will recommend one lady politician and drop Masuzoe?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I recall Alf Garnett saying similar things about women to his son in law Mike while they were discussing Mrs Thatcher in the mid 70's. I found it rather silly but funny as i do indeed find the comments by Masuzoe.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's 2014 now, I don't know if anyone's pointed that out to you. I'm saying that Masuzoe should join the 21st century. The present day and age, where sexism is unacceptable.

Do you have ANY evidence at all to show that he is in any way sexist today?

There's a reason the muckrakers had to go back to 1989 to get some dirt on him.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I think what he said was kind of true. The fact that they could only get a lousy 3000 signatures speaks volumes. I reckon a good 90 percent of those signees were already holding back the honey.
