"Xi says China seeks peace"

Yeah and an alligator won't bite your arm off if you put it in it's mouth.

How can you tell a PRC official is lying? Easy, they are breathing.

Article states: " the country wanted to resolve its maritime territorial disputes peacefully and through talks, but would not compromise on sovereignty and had to step up its defensive capabilities."

Same old line. Don't the leaders in China know any other vocabulary? What this means is there is no negotiation. China does this way, and that's it and you follow or else. I guess you can call it peaceful means by China's definition.

China, as a country with most neighbors, have peacefully resolved many territories/border problem/disputes with many of them. For example, with Russia, Tajikistan, Myanmar, Nepal, Mongolia, Pakistan..etc.

By the way, how many territory disputes have Japan resolved peacefully with its neighbors?

Or, "We will pretend tonegotiate until we can hit the big, red button."

No wonder all of the PRC's neighbors cozying with the U.S.

Xi says China seeks peace in sea disputes

Like Abe wants better relations with China and Korea.

The only saving grace for politics is that it's highly entertaining at times.

China doesn't demand exclusive relationships with others. Countries with friendly relationship with China can also have friendly relationship with USA.

China have many many neighbors and does indeed have friendly relationship with most of them; in the economical, political and culture spheres. And these spheres are undeniably year after year.

The only people that don't Americans to get involved are those that support the PRC.

had to step up its defensive capabilities

So it can peacefully negotiate. As in power comes from the barrel of a gun. Sound familiar, China?

China currently has too many disputes with many countries, and the funny thing is that they insist about their right of territory without certain evidences which looked like made by Chinese themselves. Even china tries to seek a way to solve their disputes in peace way, everyone are sure that they will not be able to achieve it unless they change their attitude.

One need not be a rocket scientist to read between the lines! Japan is in danger! And I quote: "the country wanted to resolve its maritime territorial disputes peacefully and through talks, but would not compromise on sovereignty and had to step up its defensive capabilities".“China will prepare to cope with complexities, enhance its capacity in safeguarding maritime rights and interests, and resolutely safeguard its maritime rights and interests,” The key word in all this is INTERESTS and theirs is to gobble up anything worth anything that China eyes are a resource. The issue is solely about the China’s claims on the rich waters in the East China Sea, as well as China’s claims over the South China Sea, They will continue their strong arm tactics, as they have for decades, in a "might makes right" attitude. Now more than ever, Japan must posture themselves with military resolve, diplomacy will only result in China making an overture to Japan that they should share, giving China half of some they have no right too. Japan has China worried because they have sent a clear message that Japan’s sovereignty is also not for sale! China is resource poor, and population heavy, not a good balance, for the region, and so its neighbors must be ever diligent or they will need to learn Mandarin

Chinese President Xi Jinping told his Politburo on Wednesday the country wanted to resolve its maritime territorial disputes peacefully and through talks, but would not compromise on sovereignty and had to step up its defensive capabilities.

CHINA NO TALK. A thief (China) is waiting for a right moment to strike back to steal your property. Right now, Washington and Tokyo have been too tough for them . Well, meantime we (Japan, US) can work on a military and a political alliance like a NATO with other Asian countries until China itself will implode within. I predict China is facing many social unrests and challenges ahead.

Karjai, what do you mean by 'we Asians'? Do you think every Asian is a Chinese being brainwashed by their leaders?

You must be sarcastic or have strange definition of "peace".

On 20 October 1962, the Chinese People's Liberation Army launched two attacks, 1000 kilometres apart. In the western theatre, the PLA sought to expel Indian forces from the Chip Chap valley in Aksai Chin while in the eastern theatre, the PLA sought to capture both banks of the Namka Chu river.

On March 2, 1969, a group of People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops ambushed Soviet border guards on Zhenbao Island. The Soviets suffered 59 dead, including a senior colonel, and 94 wounded.

On February 17 1979, a Chinese force of about 200,000 supported by 200 Type 59, Type 62, and Type 63 tanks from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) entered northern Vietnam.

Japan does not have any boarder dispute that developed into an armed conflict since the end of ww2.

I find it difficult to believe any words coming out of China. Their deeds and actions tell a different story, and anyway they talk out of both sides of their mouth. Right now the Chinese economy is in trouble so they are just want to put their so-called "disputes" on the back burner for the time being.

@CH3CHO

Three questions for you:

What is McMahon Line?

Where is the Zhenbao island?

Why the Sino-Vietnamese War happened?
