There is no "good job" when it comes to the Olympics. Just a waste of time, money, and resources, with absolutely no benefit except for stroking egos and filling pockets with bribes.

Yeh, there's always one and this time it's you.

Now for the next stop. I guest the IOC got to see the clean sidewalk in Turdville when they awarded the games to LA.

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

Yes, but my point of comparison is the Tokyo games so I’m holding it to an exceptionally low standard.

I wonder when they're going to start clearing out the homeless in LA?

Waste of money

Yes it was a good Olympics. Well done Paris!

The Olympics are bad and a waste of money? Whoda thought. It was fun and and watching some incredible contests was worth the watch. But we shouldn't have the Olympics? That's like saying the baseball, football, basket ball, soccer, and all the other sports seasons are a wasted of money, especially the pay for the athletes. I really deep down don't understand the negativity. I guess a lot of the comments came from folks who didn't even watch the event. Their loss.

Perhaps the best Games ever! From the opening ceremony to the closing. Way, way better than the farce we were forced to watch in Sochi.

Yes it is a good Olympics. And it is not over!

Yes it is a good Olympics. And it is not over!

That’s a good reminder for people to remember that the Paralympics are coming up from August 28th. Looking forward to following those games and cheering on the athletes!

Absolutely brilliant Games - the ratings are coming in and TV networks around the world are stunned with the huge numbers. French flair was on show, as was a spirit of sportsmanship. Pure entertainment and jaw-dropping performances.

Looking forward to the Paralympics!

Negative Nancys.

I made a point of watching exactly zero of the Tokyo games in 2020, as it was a folly of massive magnitude. To make up for it, I caught as much of the Paris games as I could, and it was a great show.

I will still never go to Paris again even I live to be 150 - when it's not in "Olympic mode" it's a complete dump full of beggars, con artists, pickpockets, and so on - but credit where it's due, they absolutely nailed this event.

LOL When the best thing supporters of this disastrous "games" can say is...insults for the next games not four years in the future? LOL Well...sorta says everything you need to know about the Parisian Nightmare of 2024, now, doesn't it?

Epic Fail. As overrated at the City of Lights itself. But hey, I just found more lipstick for your pig project! Keep spinning the "dream", LOL.

The opening ceremony started with the Pope criticizing the content.

Criticisms have also come from royal families of various countries. (It was like the Last Supper.)

This has also led to inappropriate comments from the mayor of Paris, proving that LGBT is no good after all.

The food is also the worst compared to the Tokyo Olympics. Because of the lack of hygiene management, the coronavirus is spreading, and many people have been taken to the hospital for treatment after swimming in the Seine.

The judo referees have made many strange decisions against Japanese athletes, and other countries have also criticized the strange judging in various events.

It's just a terrible situation that makes it hard to think that the Olympics are worth holding.

I would have thought he'd be too busy contemplating the vast number of pederasts in his church

It was nothing to do with the last supper, which you'd know if your education included "Things outside my bubble"

What comments? Be specific. BTW, if you use the internet / a computer, you should be thanking Alan Turing, who was a homosexual.

This is fair.

The judo referees have made many strange decisions against Japanese athletes, and other countries have also criticized the strange judging in various events.

You're always going to get people whining about judges' calls. This isn't exclusively a Paris thing.

Regarding the content that mocks the Last Supper:

The opening ceremony had been criticized by the Catholic Church and conservatives for its scenes that were reminiscent of the Last Supper in the New Testament, including the appearance of flamboyant drag queens in drag, and the appearance of a queen who had been executed in the 18th century revolution holding the head of a woman.

As the Paris Olympics opening ceremony caused a stir over religious insults, the Vatican issued an unusual statement expressing its displeasure with the production, saying, "There should be no expression that mocks religious beliefs."

The Vatican also issued an unusual statement in French expressing its displeasure with the production, saying, "We are deeply troubled by some scenes in the opening ceremony, and cannot help but join the voices of sorrow that have been caused to many Christians and followers of other religions."

Mayor of Paris' statement:

In an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde published on Tuesday, Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo repeatedly used the F-word, saying, "Fuc〇 the reactionaries, fuc〇 this far right, fuc〇 all of those who would like to lock us into a war of all against all."

Even in the middle of summer, there are no air conditioners in the rooms of the athletes' village, and some countries have installed their own air conditioners.

Athletes from wealthy countries can avoid the athletes' village and adjust their own training at the hotel, but not all athletes from all countries can stay in the hotels.

While some athletes can eat well and adjust their training, those from poor countries have no choice but to put up with these things and cannot improve their condition. Is this fair? lol

It is the problem of the tournament organizers that athletes are forced to swim despite the spread of coronavirus and the polluted Seine River.

About the referee:

After the issue of the referee intentionally not calling Shinohara's Uchimata Usami a one-pointer at the Sydney Olympics, image refereeing was introduced.

However, even at the Paris Olympics, the referee made judgments without considering images, and arbitrary decisions were seen.

This is not limited to judo, and while advances are being made in judging using AI and images, the Olympics are still mainly made by humans.

It is only natural that they are criticized for not being able to overturn judgments that are clearly wrong when looking at the images.

Great to watch.Especially the skateboarding. Pitty I missed the dancing on horses, dancing in water, and break dancing. Those sports are so different.

Those aren't sports. They're competitions and have no place in the Olympics.

Well if you ignore the politically motivated opening ceremony (against the back rules).

If you ignore that swimmers were forced to swim in a toilet, I think as far as I looked the number is difficult to find as it seems MSM didn't do its job.

But here we go at least 3 German swimmers, Belgian, 2 Portuguese, Swiss, Canadian, Swedish, etc..

It is interesting that MSM reported all these but mostly acting like each one was an isolated incident.

I couldn't find a single article that made an accumulated list with the full total of those that got sick, but we are looking at at least 10.

Now 10 may not seem a lot but if you consider that only a total of 53 swimmers — 29 men and 24 women were set to compete and some pulled out due to safety and of those that did swim at least 1 out of 5 got sick, seems the spectacle was more important than the wellbeing of the athletes.

I enjoyed following the athletes and games, it was wonderful to cheer for both the US and Japan and seeing them finish at the top. To be honest, there were a few sporting events that I did not know were included in the olympics prior to this one…

Offensive opening, e-Coli-ridden athletes who swam in the Seine, abolishing gender testing, cardboard beds and not enough food for athletes are just some of the points for consideration.

Offensive opening

Only to Puritans - who don’t matter.

The Seine idea was just a bad idea from the start, the cardboard beds complaint is petty, and the athletes were well fed.

The sport bit, you know the important bit, was fantastic. Amazing venues, organization, safety, crowds, atmosphere. The perfect place for an Olympics, apart from the river bit.

But here we go at least 3 German swimmers, Belgian, 2 Portuguese, Swiss, Canadian, Swedish, etc.

You aren't to be trusted with numbers any more since yesterday's debacle.

The Vatican also issued an unusual statement in French expressing its displeasure with the production, saying, "We are deeply troubled by some scenes in the opening ceremony, and cannot help but join the voices of sorrow that have been caused to many Christians and followers of other religions."

After decades and decades of covering up for their clergymen who have been permitted to abuse and destroy countless children - many of whom have since killed themselves - does ANY statement from the morally perverse Vatican have a shred of credibility? One would think that church has a million more problems to deal with than criticizing an Olympic ceremony.

If the morally perverse Vatican was displeased with the opening ceremony, Paris must have done a great job.

Wouhou, the pope and the royal criticisms? This is a BIG plus in my book. We are not living in the XVIIes.

Try to think a little, if there was any risk, do you think it will not be on the news by now?

Or did you make your own analyses of the water and you forgot the publish the result again?

The vatican has no say, they should not speak about anything they are not part of.

Terrible opening, lot of confusion. the dirty Seine River, whiny emotional athletes, and many of the referees some of these games ruled crappy and then there is Breaking.....boy, they fooled us well and we bought it. Thank God, I wasn't there to spend any money. I would have asked for a refund.

The most pathetic olympics ever !!!!..
