Go to spread BA2. Bad idea.

Golden week and similar public holidays are a stressful, overcrowded farce.

If they aren't mandated passive aggressive, unproductive Taro won't let productive Yumiko take time off.

Please do not start another pandemic.

Do not subsidise leisure travel.

@THOMAS R MOUNTCASTLE

I would prefer a return to the visa-free status for visitors from the USA.

And the UK

Just for Golden Week, and then we can close again.

Yes, of course, getting back a very small bit of the beforehand paid own tax money is always welcomed, isn’t it?

Talk about a nation that never learns!

No subsidies. The economy and the people that make it up, must adjust to current realities. Bedding in unviable businesses serves no one’s interests in the long term - except certain politicians’, perhaps.

BTW, you don't need a go to travel campaign in golden week anyway. That's just retarded. People are going to travel regardless of whether that is going on or not. IF they were going to start it they should start it the week after GW not during. But I would suggest they not restart it at all

I think they should make the expressways free and just charge every driver in Japan a little extra on their insurance. However, in order to prevent major traffic jams, the express ways would be free only on certain days for drivers. Make it free for seniors during the week for example. I think you would see an economic boost and more travel tourism. The biggest boost however would be if they open the floodgates on immigration. If Japan is going to go from 125 mil to 100 mil in 30 years, its gunna have to let in more than 5k per year.

excellent post

I accidentally typed in yes when I meant no. Hope the mods can fix that error.

No don't start it. We are nowhere near out of the woods yet

@Hakman,

If you want to travel, pay for it yourself, don't expect the rest of us to have to pay for you.

What? And risk a 7th wave of COVID?

No, thanks.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

No thank you.

If people want to travel, they will travel.

& they can pay for it themselves - They don’t need subsidies

Our tax money can be better utilised

It'll get restarted, cases of Coronavirus will go up, and foreigners will wrongly get the blame.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Definitely not, please think of human lives not commercial needs. We do not need Corona virus all over again.

No, no need for Golden Week. Hotels will have bookings anyway. It would be better to focus on getting them bookings at quieter times.

Not Golden Week, its already busy at that time but just after. I had some great trips hugely discounted by the government last time. Just put it on the national debt for the next generation to pay....

instead of wasting money for Go To something campaigns use money more wisely and provide to these in real need/say elder people,people with dissabilities or families with young children/ and stop to sponsor JTB and other crooks by our tax payers money!

I would prefer a return to the visa-free status for visitors from the USA.

For anyone unfamiliar, the "Go To" campaign is an intended restart of the Japanese economy from the national government, offering substantial discounts on travel inside Japan. As planned, only residents of Japan (including foreign residents) are eligible.
