I hope the world benefits.

In the US Trump would benefit the most. He and his legion of media manipulators are doing whatever they can to take attention away from Mueller’s criminal investigations of Trump and his family.
They’re also trying to take attention away from his attempts to undermine investigative agencies looking into the allegations of money laundering and influence peddling, in addition to other things.
The meeting could also take attention away from Trump’s alleged collusion with Russians.
The possible meeting also takes attention away from his taxpayer funded golf games and the numerous allegations of his sexual improprieties.
Trump will also benefit globally by the attention given to the brand Trump. He knows there's no such thing as bad publicity.
Even if he doesn't meet with Kim, which is likely, he (aka his brand) is still getting the attention he so badly craves.

It's us who benefit if the talks secure peace.
Unfortunately, I doubt human rights for the people of the DPRK will come up in the talks.

as likely as this is, I can just see Trump saying something like this without thinking. if it's an inappropriate remark or action, it's almost guaranteed that Trump will put his foot in it.

Trump couldn't plan a wedding. Kim is going to get any concessions he wants and the end result ironically will bring peace to Korea for the price of Trump's pride. Totally worth it

NK was asking for direct talks for years, and Obama, Bush etc wisely refused to play ball. Then Trump stumbles on to the scene, knowing nothing about anything as usual, and agrees instantly, thinking he is doing something clever. This meeting is 100% in line with Kim's agenda.

Laguna-"the deep animosity SK holds against America"
Wrong! Korea's Joongangilbo(중앙일보) Survey Shows more than 90% South Koreans still love the U.S.A. & the Americans!

Why are they both used as Supreme Leaders? One of them is supposed to represent the nation, what he benefits of is what the nation benefits off. The other might force the unification process that will release many North Koreans from the shackles of being stuck in the past. If their peace talks are successful does not the whole world benefit from it? In theory, that is.

The talks are very unlikely to happen. If they do happen, there will be no meaningful concessions by either side. Seems that Kim is trying to use Trump as a foil against the South. Many are aware of the deep animosity SK holds against America, and Trump seems like a guy Kim can manipulate. If Kim can create rapprochement with the South, its food and security needs will be greatly enhanced without having to talk to the US at all. Seems Kim has just made the offer to look reasonable to the South, fully expecting Trump would turn him down.
If, on the very slight chance the meeting does happen, Kim wins for having it happen. It's really as simple as that.

Do you thank him for the grass growing, and the sun rising every day as well? Because that’s about as logical as thinking this came about because of Trump.

And how well did that Obama/Bush strategy work out? Did we see any improvement in NK, any curtailment of their nuclear weapon development plans?
Since they clearly had no success with the same approach, what makes you so dead set against trying something different?
That's really neither here nor there. Why is it a requirement that our approach be contrary to Kim's agenda? That would give him power over our decision, wouldn't it? Simply, the best approach is the best approach. Whether or not Kim likes it is irrelevant.

Just by the very act of meeting - and not taking into consideration whatever comes out of it, whether success or failure?

I benefits Trump more, since without his actions we'd still be at the impasse that we were at before...
Though, who benefits afterwards is yet to be seen.
