The 11 remaining nations in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) -- after the United States withdrew -- are edging toward sealing a comprehensive free trade pact. Do you think this is a good idea?

Absolutely not. I for one hope that the TPP falls through. This was a bad idea from the beginning

good luck!

The original TPP with Chile, NZ, Singapore and one other seemed a good idea, but after bigger trading bullies like the US, Japan and Australia got involved it looked disastrous.

Bilateral trade and inner regional trade works better than something spread out like TPP. A smaller version than with the US involved seems OK, but I for one am glad that they are out.

More money for the already rich---less for the already poor.

TPP isn't about trade, it's about selling out government to corporate control. TPP would disallow countries from environmental, health, and welfare plans that counter corporations. This is exactly the opposite of what we need in a climate changing world. Corporations need to be tasked with responsibility, not more blank cheques

The devil's in the details. Not all who post know those details.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

@inkochi is correct;the big boys did tend to 'spoil the broth'.

BTW, 'sustainable growth' is a myth. This planet is finite. There's only one way to combat what is coming.

sf2k is right! These deals are solely about corporate control over government, i.e. Government treasuries. E.g. Philip Morris' $4B suite of the Australian Government over plain paper packaging of Cigarettes under a previous Asian trade agreement.
