Asashoryu's retirement: Did he fall or was he pushed?

Correction: it had not to be helped insted of it had to be helped Sorry!

I liked Asashoryu's sumo very much and regretted that I cannot see his sumo anymore. However, I came to a conclusion that it had to be helped knowing a fact that yakuzas were involved on both sides in negotiations of the private settlement. That has not beeb reported in major medias.

By the way, anyone claiming information that Asa bashed his wife/broke here teeth etc - please take this information to the police. I'm sure they would be interested in your "facts" and where you got them!

None of us will ever know what happened - we are all speculating. But there are many people who think the chinese guy he allegedly punched was paid by the JSA to provoke a drunken Asa into doing this and then having to fall on his sword. In any case - he was the greatest of all time - there is no disputing that fact!

Asa was warned and told what was expected of him repeatedly. No one held a gun to his head and forced him to act in a wild and brutish fashion (which he certainly did). If he had opted to moderate his behaviour, he would have gained even more wealth, honour and respect from sumo fans and his peers. He has only himself to blame for his undoing.

I believe that way, Himajion, because similar things have happend to gaijin in other sporting venues here in Japan. Had that not been the case, then, yes, a healthy amount of blame I would have placed on Asashoryu, but seeing how foreigners in other Japanese Sports have been treated similarly, I think I'll keep believing that this was all racially based....

Combination of both. Certain people were out to get him, but he certainly didn't help his own cause. There is also the issue of perspective. Remember than another wrestler was involved in a car accident that resulted in somebody dying, however, he was just slapped on the wrist. As far as I know Asashoryu didn't kill anybody (beaten yes, but killed no), however, he was still shown the door.

Watch sumo's fortunes decrease again and the ossans at JSA be content with that happening.

I'm sorry if that was written in a confusing manner. It's well known that he beat his wife (now ex-wife) and she needed her teeth repaired. He broke someone's nose last week, correct? Even NHK reported it, I don't look at tabloids.

How do you know it really didn't happen??? You seem just as sure, based only on your gut feelings, that it's because he's a gaijin.

He broke his wife's nose? When, Himajin? References and/orlonks, please. As far as the "drunken brawl" and the "victim's 'broken nose'" are concerned, how do we REALLY know it even happened? Because a tabloid rag said it happened? Yes, I know all about those "shape up" warnings: "Don't pump your fists after a yusho championship; Don't play golf with your fellow rikishi two days before a tournament is to start; Don't show any emotion on the dohyo after a victory; Stop being so darn good at sumo and get yourself on pace to break all records: foreign rikishi are supposed to be mediocre...." Yes, those warnings, boy I tell you he sure did forget his place as a Yokozuna. Sure wouldn't want anyone in sumo to actually act like a human....let alone be foreign and be great at sumo...

Blue Tiger, how many other rikishi have beaten their wives, been given 8 warnings to shape up, and broken people's noses? Amazing that you think he should suffer no consequences for anything he's done. Because he's a sports figure?

He was pushed out. He was no worse than previous yokozuna, the only difference bieng he was foreign, the others for the most part were not. Let me correct that, he was foreign and on pace to bust up all of Sumo's records. Had he been a mediocre yokozuna, or better yet, never reached the rank, we'd have never heard about any of his so-called "disgraces", and this punk he's alleged to have beat up in a drunken brawl is still that: alleged. Anythign th keep the foreigner down in this country, with regards to J-Sports. Womantowoman couldn't have said ti better.

Asashoryu was wonderful, bold and brought a good name for the game and his country. But then what did he do? You have to play the game according to the Jrules. It is the Jgame and Jrules and Jland. He should be glad that the opportunity was given for him to shine. But it comes for a price. The game is too precious for the land. So there will be resistance if he attempted to come to the top. He should have fought harder. Should have persisted. Yes, I know it is not easy.

After his behaviour it doesn't much matter if he went on his own or was pushed. He should knock off the booze and get a good shrink. Nobody likes a nasty drunk.

He had a choice, walk out, with your head up or your tail between your legs. I have always like Asa and wanted to see him win his 33rd. Usho one day. He only has himself to blame.

Asa is the first gaijin Yokozuna who was kicked out from JSA.

Asashoryu dug his own grave. In the first place he should not have beaten the poor man in the car when he was drunk. Asa is the first gaijin Yokozuna who was kicked out from JSA.
