In the sense that doing it increase the chances of it going down and making the whole system change it is very positive. People tend to trust too much something that is flawed by design and no measure can make it as reliable and trust worthy as people commonly think it is. The changes being announced would reduce very importantly this misperception so hopefully people will now see it as it has always been.

I don't have a Twitter account, never have had, and I've never felt the need for one.

It’s been a 100% leftists playground with all the former staff and by logic it’s still a 100% leftists playground even when half the staff is fired. So yes, a good move, because Musk now changes that or he completely ruins that playground, leading to a good result in either case.

A narcissist decided to burn $44 billion - first on a troll, then because he had to. He’s destroying his revenue base and letting rampant racism and disinformation run rampant. In fact, he is participating in it.

So, many are up in arms that Musk owns Twitter especially the Twitter employees that got laid off. However, the Twitter employees and people not happy with the change, should only point the finger at Twitter executives and the Board. Remember, the powers at Twitter took Musk to the courts to 'force" him to buy the company because he was going to back out of the deal due to all the fake accounts, bots, and slanted algorithms.

Personally, I think it is a good change if Musk makes Twitter apolitical. Over the past few years, most of the so-called banned misinformation and conspiracy theories on Twitter and mainstream media were really the facts. So, there's that. Lol.

My Twitter feed this morning is jam full of imposter accounts for the first time ever.

They all have the name of someone famous, but put “parody” or something similar next to it so they won’t get banned.

Not sure if I like or dislike it yet, but its the first actual difference I’ve noticed so far.

Couldn't care less. It has the same impact on me as Kim Jong-un owning Hub.

Musk is in my opinion more capable of damage than good. He should have just stuck to business.

Musk is a solutions guy, and he has proven that all a long. achieving things one after the other, that people deemed impossible. By making Twitter another of his many ongoing projects, in effect tackling the ridiculous ‘ culture war ‘ that is holding us all back, then power to him. Am not delusional enough to think that I know better than a guy like that and will sit back and watch the show. If he upsets those that hate rich and hyper-productive people, or drives morons to make public announcements that they are leaving Twitter ( bye ) とか well that’s just a side bonus ! How dare he! Twitter usage is apparently at an all time high. I have never used it and never want to. But the almighty ruckus Elong has caused has been fun to watch.

I think it is Musk's devotees and disciples that concern me as much as him. He has built a bit of a cult.

Not a good move... considering that he may be poundering to include some twitter source code to its tesla cars and robot.....

I would not be happy to be in a car that be twitting while driving or a robot that will try to dominate human race by causing havok in twitter.

As long as he carries on annoying leftists, it's all good.

Twitter is a business, it has failed to make a profit for the entirety of its existence, West coast Tech types may think you can go on making a loss for ever and someone else will pick up the bill but eventually reality intrudes.

If Musk can make it profitable it will survive no matter how much misguided hot air is vented for ideological reasons from both ends of the political spectrum. Ultimately decisions will be driven by commercial realities as in any service industry. The rest is middle class angst.

Musk let his ego talk him into buying Twitter without due process during a Twitter argument. And now, he is ruining the platform.

It's kind of funny to see all these righties realize that if you allow people to say whatever they want on a platform, the advertisers aren't going to pay. You always thought that getting your hate speech taken down was an anti-conservative action, when it fact it was a pro-commerce action.

But of course, the right doesn't care about the economy, they just want the right to say their hate speech without being called on it. So as long as Musk is willing to keep funneling his Twitter bucks into a platform where he can say whatever he wants, the right will be all good.

Time will tell. I don't think its a good move for Elon Musk because he clearly overpaid after bidding as a jolly jape and then trying to get out of it.

fwiw, I like Twitter, probably as much as any news source. There are a lot of experts in different fields on there. I do not tweet myself, and hardly comment on anything.

The timing was financially incomprehensible.

Musk never explained why such a purchase made any logical sense, only to cut the staff and then have to rehire in haste.

What was that sink all about?

Whatever financial rabbit Musk pulls out of the hat I hope it not just taps/faucet/a plug to stem the losses.

I say yes, because I think it may well mean the end of Twitter, and that's a good thing given what it's become.
