It gets world leaders together. Chances for sideline meetings increase chances for compromise.

its just waste of money and waste of time, so they can chat for a bit without doing anything useful

Until nations get a backbone and regain their sovereignty from the US, nothing will be achieved.

They wouldn’t dare cut their own throats in doing so. Will never happen.

America isn't even in the top 10 richest countries. lreland and Norway are ahead of it. The wealth of Europe exceeds America.

No one is going to them for money, trade, innovation, investment, go down Wall Street and you’ll see it all come together right there.

Same place that in 2008 President Bush had to bail them out with $800 billion. My parents, along with so many others, lost about 50% of their pension trust but they didn't get any bail out.

What do you base your idea of richest on? America controls more wealth than any other country. America has by far the highest GDP.

The wealth of Europe exceeds America? Europe is not a country.

While some reports focus on GDP per Capita to say America isn’t the richest. That simply speaks towards the huge income disparity in America. From a fiscal standpoint and asset standpoint, America is by far the richest country.

As a comparison of economies, it's not wrong to compare the economy of the EU with other individual countries. It's a single economy covering a group of people.

America is the richest country, but Americans aren't the richest people.

It is just a venue for world leaders and economists to get together and think up new ways to screw the rest of us.

Those world leaders. They need to act like they're doing something. It's a waste of time and money but they they do it because they can.

Just another club we aren't in. And it's the same one we all get beat with.

If by tangible you mean making deals that put money in each of their pockets, then yes.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Yes, I am sure they have tangible results for themselves. For 99% of the people who have to work for their money, though, the meetings are just another waste of tax funds at best - or a destruction of the economy at worst.

In the age of internet when they can teleconference at ANYtime, from ANYwhere, these "leaders" instead choose to fly all over the world, waste fuel, release CO2, disrupting a city, etc. They can talk and pat themselves in the back about "the good things they're going to do and change for the better", but they're certainly not making any effort to lead by examples, and their actions are the opposite of what they preach.

Zichi: Amerika ga tairiku desu ... Bekoku ga kuni desu.

These past couple of days have had these clowns "expressing concerns" over trade etc. yada yada yada.

You've got the invader of Crimea; the poisoning murderer of  Sergei Skripal, his daughter in England and Viktor Yushchenko about 10 years ago; the murderer of journalist Kasshogi and the enforcer of the famine in Yemen; the jailer of intellectuals, artists, and activists in China all in one place - BUT none of these pickleheads have the guts to call each other out on any of these things.

What's the point of bringing all these money grubbing moguls together anyway?
