I drew a line at Line, because I already had 6 alternative text channels for messages.

I got sick of losing track of them. So, even fashion could not make me go over my social networking limit.

I use Line for messaging. It's much cheaper than iMessage or SMS. However, Line is a lot more than just a basic messaging app to many people. For example, there is Line Pay, Line News, a job search, and music streaming and music store and more. Most of these ancillary services are in Japanese, which keeps most foreigners out of the picture. It also means many foreigners only think of Line as a messaging app, which would explain some of the Off-beat comments above.

How? Neither charges for messages.

It's more convenient than e-mailing. LINE has enabled us to contact with friends, family, and the others instantly using text messaging or posting stamp instead of calling. However, the more instantly we can send a mesage and get a reply, the less time we can consider what to say. Thus, a little misunderstanding occurs betweem the users, and I think this leads to unexpected trouble. So I think it is necessary that we use LINE or other text messaging tools much more carefully.

The only messenger/talking app I use. The stickers are awesome. I've bought a few sets and I love the "Keep" feature that let's you save documents on the app. The video chat is is quite good too.

Nope don't use any SNS. Got a life to live and thus I am not instantly available everytime time my device beeps.

Use line, even with family in my home country. Just wish they would offer stickers in English, when I use them with my English speaking family, they don't know what the hell they mean!

I use it but I only for a couple of people, one of whom is my missus. I find Facebook easier for people on that.

For some reason, I have to keep doing verification every time my PC restarts to use the PC version of Line, so that doesn't encourage me to use it more. I like typing messages on a full sized keyboard, not a little mobile thing. If anyone knows how to keep the PC version of Line logged in, please let me know.

No, I have friends on Docomo, and I don't pay for iMessage messages to them.

Yes, it is easy to use. My friends and family use it regularly. After Softbank decided to put their cheapest burner phone plans using Line, I've been able to save 5000 yen a month. What's not to like about that?

The video chat is is quite good too.

Which comes in handy when travelling abroad too,the free phone service and video chat have been life savers especially since Japanese carriers don't unlock their phones unless requested and they can not be used overseas.

I have Line to keep in touch with other people who use it, but to be honest I don't much care for it. Maybe I'm too old, but the only improvements it has over a chain of messaging apps going back to ICQ and AIM are stickers and games that to be honest I can't be bothered to investigate how to use.

I've using it so long that I can't remember what I used before. Of course the ladies see me now as Kumamon and Brown which makes me act dorky around them because, well, it's Japan and cute is everything, no?

If I use apple messages app, nobody texts me back, if I use Line app everybody texts me back. Funny thing is everybody know has an iPhone. Sheep sheep.
