I'm not sure how you regulate it. Governments don't do subtleties well. Maybe just haul in the leaders of big tech regularly so they are aware of what the concerns are.
It should be regulated to do no harm, regardless of the application. And doing no harm includes requiring it to weed out misinformation and propaganda when providing information. There is no "right to lie" in human intelligence, so there should be no "right to lie" in artificial ones either.
I believe it needs to be somehow regulated, but I have zero confidence that any government will be able to do this well. Regardless of the topic, I generally have little faith in government that they will do things on a timely basis, assign competent people, and come up with some reasonable guidelines that (at least) the majority of people could agree to.
Unless you want to live the life of the novel 1984 by George Orwell or want to live the life of the 1920's classic film Metropolis by Fritz Lang. AI needs to be heavily regulated and made to be used only when absolutely necessary

Of course not. If you wish predefined and censored results, you can keep sticking to pen and paper.

What's wrong with using better AI for answers than bad or not too good previous chat apps?
I have been using Bing's ChatGpt and now get answers a lot faster and correct than searching from pervious online searches.
Very happy with it.

Yes, before AI regulates government.

If there’s a critical threat to human beings, it should be regulated. If it’s a healthy transformation, it should not be regulated.

no, because they dont even have a basic understanding of what they would be "regulating".

If governments are regulating AI, there should be an international body to check on different governments . . . .

The government?
Japanese government?
They can't even do their own jobs.
How are they going to regulate A.I.?

I think each and every person should regulate how to use AI.

A better question is, "Should AI regulate governments? "
