You can't put that genie back in the bottle. If anything it should be banned for being such a god awful production. Amatuer is hardly close.

It is crappy and all this mayhem is because of the movie, if so, it's the worst crap! If it's about the religion, still no reason to destroy these embassies.

This movie should be banned from the internet in the same way that child pornography is.

It's possibly more dangerous.

It is designed to incite riot and hate.

It works as planned.

The people who made it should be rounded up and punished.

This video is flawed and designed to cause offence.

There are plenty of legitimate was to attack interpretations of Islam, but from what I understand of thisk, it is based on no real evidence and is a poorly made.

While an equivalent film about Christ by Muslims would not result in the same level of disorder (except in a few US cities), it does not mean that we should not respect Islamic views and be mindful of the reflex to violence in the Middle East.

For those on the "freedom of speech" wing, ask yourselves whether you would hold the same view for a video that repeated and re-asserted commonly held beliefs about people of African heritage from a couple of hundred years ago?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Yes, the video is offensive. Yes, it is full of nonsense hatespeech.

However, there are equally thousands others like it, and where do we draw the line? If you take down one then surely you have to take them all down? If you take down ones offensive to Muslims then surely you have to take down ones offensive to Christians, Jews, Hindus, Mormons, Jehova's witnesses (no more mentioning birthdays on the internet!), those who don't believe in evolution (not sure what religion this is...), etc.

Sorry, but one can't fairly remove anti-Islamic videos without opening a Pandora's box of censorship that would pander to every relgious fanatic across the world's desire to push their own agenda and silence everyone opposing it.

I would propose a simpler solution... that religious fanatics just grow up and just laugh off all the intolerance around them. If they feel there are factual inaccuracies then correct them with their own video. That's the wonder of free speech. The speech you don't like you can speak about yourself or ignore.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

If the websites are not going to publish the information about who made the film and how he duped at least some of the others into helping to make it, then they should take the footage down. Otherwise the full story is not being presented.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

No, keep it up, if the Muslims can't handle a little mockery of their precious prophet, then that's their problem.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Of course it shouldn't be removed. The video doesn't advocate violence, it is just irreverent and rude. It reflects the opinion of the video's creator, that's all. I'm very uncomfortable with the government getting involved in policing peoples' opinions, or regulating hurt feelings.

There is NO human right to not be offended, or to have your beliefs respected.

@AH so. My answer is "yes".

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Religious fanatics are such cry-babies... if they believe their god is the all-powerful and all knowing Creator, Sustainer, Ordainer, and Judge of the universe, then why do they see the need to take justice into their own hands?

If they truly believe in god, shouldn't they be happy to just wait for him to judge them and damn them to hell himself?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

"them", being the infidels who mock Islam, in this case.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Middle East just gets better and better. To take such umbrage at a movie is beyond ridiculous.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

No. Why should it be banned. Out of fear? How pathetic. Stop bowing down to the demands of medieval beliefs and extremists... If Islam stopped acting like a narcissist and learned how to take criticism or a joke, this would not be a problem...

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Never.

The muslim world spouts a daily torrent of abuse against non-islamic countries/religions- in addition to persecution of non-muslims and church-burning, for example.

This amateur video is peanuts by comparison.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Never! If you do, you let barbaric violence win, and it will be worse the next time. Project the movie ( even though its a terrible production ) everywhere to watch. After all, the movie is not lies.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Since its not the video that has them rioting, no.

If it was the video, I would think they would at least be going after Egyptian Coptic Christians rather than attacking Americans etc. and complaining about America.

No, this is about Anti-American and anti-western sentiment. The movie is just a stupid excuse to release built up rage. If it wasn't, they would be going after the correct target, which is not even Egyptian Coptic Christians in general, but the few troublemakers who made the movie.

And if the U.S. State Department or Obama have not yet condemned the movie in the strongest terms, they should. But attempt to ban or bar it, they should not. However, the people who made it should have their visas revoked and be immediately returned to their country of origin.

When is the world going to wake up and realize that this is not about the Muslims, it is not a religious war, and Mohamed has nothing to do with this? This is about a group in our society that has nothing better to do then try to push their belief, whatever that is on other people. A culture that truly believes in God, regardless of what name you give him, would never react this way. America is still at the top of the list in nations that God loving people want to come to. It is because America is so great and has always been a leader that makes us a target. When you are at the top, someone is always trying to knock you down. This is a group that hates itself. So when you dislike yourself, you go after the guy at the top. America is not perfect; we have made our mistakes and will continue to make more. When you are a leader, you make mistakes because you do not have the benefit to follow the path that others have taken first. Our only BIG mistake, is that we as a nation or let me break it down more, our politicians refuse to learn from the short past that America has. Compared to the Middle East, we are still a baby, but look how far we have come. Yet, for some of the people in the Middle East, a very small group, they have not been able to figure it all out. Sad when you think that mankind started here. You would expect more from people that are suppose have the wisdom of age. The God that looks over this great land, Mohamed, is a loving God; Mohamed must really be upset with the death and destruction that is going on in his name. One is not born with hate in their heart, it is learned and tough.

@THEDOC I was about to take issue with you on a couple of points when I read:

The God that looks over this great land, Mohamed, is a loving God

Would you care to re-read and re-state your opinion? Otherwise, we're all wasting our time, aren't we?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I voted 'yes'. I think the video SHOULD be removed, but that in no way indicates I think it should HAVE to be removed. It's a choice for those who post the video.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I remember telling this one Islamic follower that the violent actions perpatrated by these folks only makes Islam come under more scrutiny, criticism, and resistance. Poor person doesn't understand rights he doesn't have.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I personally don't agree with any such "hate" movies against any religion, belief or ethnicity. If you believe your view is more correct than someone else, you should emphasis on the good aspects of your own belief or critically compare the different ideas, not to go around ridiculing and insulting other beliefs! It is a shame for humanity that in the 21st century people will pay royalties to make such things. I would personally prefer all such videos to be removed, but I have no idea how that can be done in practice without opening the "pandora's" box mentioned by Frungy, which I totally agree with.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

@lucabrasi My basic point was this, if you believe in God, regardless of what name you give him, then violence and God do not go together. I respect all religions and one can call there God by any name. As I said, you would think at this point in the history of the world, that a culture that is so old would have learned something by now, that violence and hatred accomplish nothing.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@THEDOC

Sure, I agree with you 100%. My point was that, in what I'm sure was a slip of the pen, you referred to Mohamed as "God", whereas God is Allah in Islam, and Mohamed his human prophet. No way is Mohamed regarded as divine, and if you called him "God" in some parts of the world, you'd end up very deep in it : (

Never allow violent extremists to dictate policy. If you let that happen you get things like the Patriot Act and the NDAA, documents given birth by fear and perpetuated by ignorance.

Leave the video up for what it is, a crap video. It was poorly filmed, poorly written, the acting was terrible, it didn't follow any cohesive plot structure, and the effects were pointless. I'm a Catholic but I can appreciate a film that openly mocks my religion but the film at the center of these riots just sucks.

This was a film so terrible that I could have seen myself using it for my contribution to 'awful movie night', something that is so bad that you can't help but laugh at it. But people are dead because of it. Stupid movie, stupid rioters. It's like one big awful joke but nobody's laughing.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@lucabrasi , got ya, thanks, have a great day, always nice to be able to talk with people. The world as a whole should be more open and just sit down and talk.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The question is based on a false premise. It is not "the video" that fuelling the riots, it is the radical imams who rant about it in their friday sermons.

The video has been on youtube for months. As have others, that islamists find offensive. In fact, our whole Western way of life is filled with things that are offensive to radical islam.

But the idea that suddenly millions of Arabs simultaneously discovered an obscure Youtube video by chance and independently started to riot is plainly absurd.

THEDOC:

" My basic point was this, if you believe in God, regardless of what name you give him, then violence and God do not go together. "

Says who?? You are assuming that all gods are the same, which they obviously are not. If your god sanctions violence, then vidolence is of course perfectly OK for that god.

Friday:

" If it was the video, I would think they would at least be going after Egyptian Coptic Christians rather than attacking Americans etc. and complaining about America. "

Oh they will be going after the Egyptian Coptic Christians, now that the Muslim Brotherhood is in charge in Egypt. Don´t worry about that, that is definitely in the cards. But you are of course right that the current 9/11 riots are not caused by a video in itself. It is obviously a planned event, with the video as a useful pretext.

THEDOC:

" The God that looks over this great land, Mohamed, is a loving God; Mohamed must really be upset with the death and destruction that is going on in his name. One is not born with hate in their heart, it is learned and tough. "

LOL; did you just declare Mohammed to be a god?? That statement alone will earn you a death fatwah in a Shariah country.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@williB I stand corrected, from the information that I could find, Muhammad was a prophet of God, and most Muslims believe he is the last prophet sent by God for mankind. If this is not correct, please let me know. I would not want to offend anyone’s religion.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The question is based on a false premise.

I think I might be offended. Better go and riot.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

must respect all religions please islam is very peacefull religion thats why if anyone notice many christians convert to islam and you never see islamic person convert to christian please respect atleast Islam**

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

France has already started with a freedom of speech message the recent cartoon. It will not be long before other people start publishing these images and articles. How do the people in the Islamic countries support themselves and their families? Is the unemployment rate that high?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Why should it be removed? Especially now, why should it be removed? It's its very existence that those crazy people were using as an excuse for their behaviour. I doubt many, or any, of them have actually watched it so what difference would removing it make?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Tokyo123.... Several people have died at the hands of your "very peaceful religion" . While I am sure it's the fringe extremists that cause it, you've got hundreds of thousands supporting them in the riots. If they are the minority, and I believe that the are, the actual problem then becomes your majority is too willing to let this fringe group represent you.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The video doesn't "fuel" anything except bad reviews.

The thin-skinned and cynical nut jobs don't need any excuse to kill Americans. It is what they do because that is what they want to do.

If we stopped "insulting" them by allowing some jerks to make a poorly made B move, the fundies would be outraged by Tommy Hilfiger.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Yes, the video is offensive. Yes, it is full of hatespeech.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Yes, I would hold the same view.

There are far more offensive videos on YouTube actually calling for violence against non-Muslims. That's more offensive than any hatchet job on a guy who's been dead for more than a millenium.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No, I think every person has the right to freedom of expression, and personally, there are those on this planet that just need to learn to accept that and stop whining about it!
