The case numbers are still going up and down with the varient mutations as this virus continues to evolve. Many people have had it more than once. The vaccine is keeping the number of deaths down. Covid is here to stay and it is naive to state there is no pandemic.

@ OssanAmerica This is a common problem when Japanese write English. They are not direct and concise because being direct and concise is rude. There are ways to be rude in English but this is not one of them. The question should simply read, "Do you think the pandemic is over?"

Yes! The world has a much bigger problem now to deal with than this virus: the russian insane mass murdering Mob.

We can deal with several problems at once Monty, there are almost 8 billion of us. I'm entrusting this one to you personally.

As long as COVID-19 is infecting people it is not over.

"growing perception"? Everyone except china and Japan has moved on since at least 6 months ago.

It IS over.

The infection that I had earlier this year that was Covid definitely left me with the ‘perception’ that the pandemic is ….over!

according to your "daily reports" we must stay afraid

I 100% agree!

there are some organisations still trying to squeeze every dollar out of it and us that they can. So they'll try to keep the fear alive as long as there are enough people who'll swallow it.

I 100% agree!

I've been so distracted by this stupid Ukraine war this year that I've almost forgotten about the pandemic

Nearly 400 Americans die each day from it. I can not accept that as a new normal.

It is now panoramic... duh!

Stick a fork in it. Even Plugs Biden said so last week.

I'm sure if you live in Japan it still feels like its 2020 what with the masks and daily reports of Covid numbers etc. Many other countries have moved on, for the sake of their economy, their people's mental health, work, school etc. They're learning to adapt, adjust and live with it while going about as normal. It's nice not to be constantly reminded of the pandemic and just go back to enjoying life after 2+ years of misery.

Whether it's over or not is hard to conclude, but there are some organisations still trying to squeeze every dollar out of it and us that they can. So they'll try to keep the fear alive as long as there are enough people who'll swallow it.

I have to admit, I've been so distracted by this stupid Ukraine war this year that I've almost forgotten about the pandemic (despite having finally caught Covid myself this year).

I don't think its over. We don't know if there will be a new variant that will appear this winter, and if so, what it would look like. There are still a huge number of people, particularly in the developing world, that are not vaccinated. Just best to wait and see.

I think the perception declined when it got overshadowed by other headliner current events, particularly war in Ukraine and its economic fallout. Who would care about a virus that is not that fatal as opposed to rising prices that would put those already in the poverty line in even harder times, not to mention the chances of it dragging the world into depression.

Its not over you can't KILL a virus

In fact a great deal of misrepresentation about the virus and vaccines has been exposed in the US and UK. The UK government having turned a seemingly minor infection into a major disaster and of course hugely exaggerating the efficiacy of the vaccines which have failed against mutations, which was the expected result brought up by some less manipulable people.

Virus responce and vaccines are now being actively questioned and challenged by many politicians across the globe, from Australia to the USA.

I think it's pretty much impossible for the average person to know whether the pandemic is over or not. Case numbers, deaths, hospiyslizations can be down now but up again in a few months. New variants might appear. The perception that it is over right now in many countries comes more from a desire for it to be over, rather than medically substantiated evidence and confirmation.

The pandemic is definitely over. With the daily reporting of cases, which do not necessarily represent people who are ill, just that they tested positive. Also, most of the deaths attributed to Covid are likely people who died with covid, and not from covid.

Unfortunately it is in the interest of the powers that be to keep a state of emergency to continue profitting from the products that have EUAs...

No, the Pandemic is not over.

Everywhere except japan….

2 ( +11 / -9 )

Perception is 9/10ths of the problem... at least in Japan at this time it is.

For now, it seems the worst is over. We never know if another variant will come, and how benign or terrorising it could be. Hopefully we are finished with the worst of it anyway, though I suspect we'll be dealing with it like the flu.

The Pandemic continues, it has not yet moved anywhere near being Endemic.

-23 ( +7 / -30 )

There is a growing perception in many countries that the pandemic is over. Do you agree?

Is this asking if we agree that there is a growing perception in many countries that the pandemic is over?

Or is it asking if we agree with that perception?

A simple "with this view" at the end would would have clarified that.

It is now endemic.
