Lmao, after I voted, so far no one still voted for Kim Jong-un. SAD!

On a more serious note, can you believe that the US President is now being compared to the North Korean leader? Is this really our new normal?

can you believe that the US President is now being compared to the North Korean leader? Is this really our new normal?

Sadly it seems to be.

19 ( +23 / -4 )

The biggest threat is Trump. Kim is no angel but the sabre rattling from Pyongyang is how they go about trying to be noticed. Trump has upped the ante and is now threatening our very existence.

I feel wary when I hear his supporters in Japan. Why are some trying to spread their leader's poison over here?

-4 ( +10 / -14 )

Trump is just a moron who might not even make it through his term in office.

Kim Jong Un is a maniac who is developing the capability to make other nations extinct and has stated many times that that's exactly what he is planning to do. He will kill tens of millions or possibly hundreds of millions depending on how far they get once he has this capability.

There is no comparison

No War is the best,

but war now is better than war after NK stockpile their nuclear.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Which of the two do you think is the biggest threat to peace and security in the Northeast Asian region?

They are both a threat, but as to which is the bigger threat- I guess it would be the one with the smaller hands.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Kim Jong Un is a maniac who is developing the capability to make other nations extinct and has stated many times that that's exactly what he is planning to do.

“The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.”

-Trump 2017

No War is the best, but war now is better than war after NK stockpile their nuclear.

....or, maybe there'd be no war when NK stockpiles their nuclear weapons. No war is the best, right?

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

The US has been threatening NK since 1950.

-5 ( +9 / -14 )

Kim Jong Un believes he needs nuclear weapons in order to ensure the US won't invade his country. If Trump were able to credibly demonstrate he has no interest in invading DPRK, he might be able to get some negotiating room. But that would require Trump to act in a predictable, rational, and trustworthy way, and we all know that isn't going to happen.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Perhaps some of you might read on the causes of WW1.

One person viewed it this way

Trump shares one common and dangerous trait with the Kaiser: both were amateur militarists given to public bluster and adopting an ultra-nationalist bully-boy style of diplomacy, in part to cover up vast weaknesses in their own characters and their lack of understanding of their countries’ true strengths.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Yes, Trump is a fool. He speaks like a kid on a middle school playground. This is an interesting poll, however. Yes, Trump is handling this in an idiotic fashion, however North Korea is lobbing missiles over the territory of a sovereign nation which is extraordinarily provocative.

My father served in the Korean war. From what I heard from him it was horrible for the Korean people (and those who fought) and I would hope another war will never occur on the peninsula. The U.S. has never had an interest in "invading" North Korea and presently has no interest in doing so.

I believe Kim is the greater threat, however Trump is not helping matters at all.

Kim is backed into a corner right now. Cell phones, DVD's and other technologies are being smuggled across the border from China. Some of those who have escaped are actually calling relatives back in North Korea further exposing the myth of the North as being a "workers paradise".

Personally I believe if North Korea were left alone it would collapse from within, however the big fear is that a cornered Kim may do something stupid. The answer to all of this is above my pay grade.

In the end the greatest crime (and the saddest) is that the world stood by and watched millions of people starved and worked to death over a long period of time while the leaders of that country (North Korea) dined on the finest and enjoyed their life in Pyongyang.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump, hands down. What Kim is doing is par for the course and no more a threat than usual on its own. Trump, on the other hand, has undone work even worse than bush put NK on the "Axis of Evil" and started this whole thing up. You'd think an American president would be above a North Korean dictator in terms of actions and ethics, but Trump has proven he is as morally bankrupt as any of them, and then some.

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

Trump. Kim just wants to keep his regime in power. He knows that North Korea cannot destroy the U.S., but that the U.S. can destroy North Korea.

The biggest danger is that Trump wants to start a war in North Korea because :

1) he does not know any other way out, has no foreign policy experience, and has no state department officials to help him (because he did not appoint people to critical posts)

2) to save his ego

3) to deflect attention away from his failed presidency and the Russia investigation

or a combination of the above. There is nothing like a war to rally people around the flag and the leader.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Kim Jong Un is playing harsh threat-pranks on the world and the foolish ones are playing along. Donald Trump might just go and order a bombardment on them, though.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

The biggest threat is the guys behind the wings, running the show. Kim and Donald are puppets. The real danger is from the string pullers!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Trump, or Dump as I call him.

Kim just wants to keep his regime in power.

Dump knows that the Russia investigation is gonna ruin him, has possible mental health issues and has no experience in these diplomatic matters so he is far more dangerous.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I feel that Donald Trump likely has a personality disorder, and Kim Jong Un is a nutter with a putter.

It's a very, very volatile cocktail of leadership irresponsibility and misguided egotism.

I voted both. They world would be far safer without either in power.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Kim Jong Un is the greater threat to the region. And there's no end in sight.

Donald Trump is the bigger threat to the United States. At least for 4 years,

The U.S. has never had an interest in invading N. Korea and Kim's father was given lots of "carrots" in the two + decades he was in charge and yet they were never sincere about the possibility of suspending their nuclear weapons program. It is too late for the U.S. to make a preemptive strike because it still could result in N. Korea using some sort of nuclear weapon against Seoul (I doubt yet that they have an directable ICBM or a nuclear warhead). And were the U.S. to strike, I can't imagine China idly watching the destruction of N. Korea's military. So, the stalemate continues.

Trump is a loose cannon, literally. He needs to know where and when to opine on some issues. WHERE IS MATTIS ?

The US has been threatening NK since 1950.

You mean ever since June 1950 when Kim Il Sung sent his Soviet-equipped army south towards Seoul?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

110% Jon un. Been at the wheel longer than Trump

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Educate yourself people. 25 years of wanting to destroy the U.S. Verses 8 months in the Whitehouse? Kind of a no brainer who the biggest threat is. This time the U. S. Won't let him get away with it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Clamanza - Another name calling, disrepectful Republican. What is it with you guys? Why can't you guys be respectful to people with different opinions and put away your hate? This is the exact reason why I said "Donald Trump" is the most dangerous. People like you who support him.

Now, to all of you who said Kim Jung Un, I disagree. The Kims have been there for more than 50 years, not 25 yakyak. Yes, he is extremely dangerous because they are getting closer and closer to becoming a nuclear power, but it is Trump's big mouth that will set the world on fire. He IS a loose cannon who really does not care about anything but himself and his pride. That is why he is the most dangerous. There are things that can be done to get rid of Kim that are being trained for, but if Trump keeps pushing Kim in the corner, Kim will respond in the worst way before that can happen, cause no matter what happens, Kim is screwed and he knows it. Now, if Trump would just shut up, take him out, then we could wait for the next economic disaster to occur under republican leadership.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

sandiegolov - 1st of all I'm not a Republican, or even American. But I will call out leftist hysteria whenever I see it - and I'm seeing a lot of it these days.

Calling Trump a threat to world peace on a par with Un is nothing more than hysteria and misplaced anger.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Yeah, right! Sure..... To not see the threat that a loose cannon is, is just not seeing clearly. Lacking any sense of diplomacy by a leader can escalate a problem faster than you think. This is not leftist hysteria nor misplaced anger. This is looking at someone who is clearly out of control with his mouth, fingers (Twitter) and temper by people who are used to calmness, patience and careful thinking. Never has their been such a dangerous man with so much power and more than willing to use it! Mark my words.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

ok, sandiegolov. I've marked your words and have decided to build a bunker in my back yard. I'll await the torrent of missiles unleashed by Trump on Japan.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

LOL Can't argue with someone who does not get the facts straight and thinks that I am saying something that I am not. Never once did I say that he would bomb Japan. LMFAO. You shouldn't accuse anyone of hysteria and misplaced anger if you can't even get facts straight and misunderstand what people say when they never said them or even hinted to them.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

sandigolov - I'm curious. What are the "facts" in this matter?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

If the Trump visit to Japan goes ahead; it's like painting a big target on the country.

Both him and Kim need to simmer down and concentrate on dialogue.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@clamanza - We are done here. Have a nice day. Oh, and if I were you and you did have that space to build a bomb shelter, I certainly would do it. Not hysteria, just good commonsense.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

sandigolov - so crying "Build a bomb shelter!" on a public forum is not hysteria.

Got it.

The entire world knows Kim Jung Un is the only threat to peace

Nah, he's just blustering as both his dad, and his dad's dad did. They never have, and never would, attack any of the surrounding countries, as the end result would be the destruction of their regime. Other presidents were intelligent enough to realize this, and dealt with their sabre rattling as such. Trump unfortunately can't let the presidency get in the way of his ego, and if there is any risk of actual war starting, it is by him.

He's just angry because NK isn't bowing down and doing what he says when he says it. Unfortunately, that anger may lead to real war.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Nah, he's just blustering as both his dad, and his dad's dad did. They never have, and never would, attack any of the surrounding countries,

it’s almost as if you didn’t hear that North Korea has for the first time launched missiles over the Japanese mainland in defiance of international law.

also that little detail of them being nuclear capable.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

it’s almost as if you didn’t hear that North Korea has for the first time launched missiles over the Japanese mainland in defiance of international law.

Like the Americans?

Seems like the problem here isn't in their actions, but rather with who they are.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Seems like the problem here isn't in their actions, but rather with who they are.

i see. So you have no problem with crazy North Korea having nuclear weapons, despite the fact they have threatened to use them to destroy their neighbors.

Your hatred of the United States runs that deep? Really?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

So you have no problem with crazy North Korea having nuclear weapons

Sure I do. You're not showing logic as a strong point here if that is the conclusion you came to.

Your hatred of the United States runs that deep? Really?

I don't hate the US. But I think that screaming 'YOU CAN'T HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS', while being armed to the t*ts with nuclear weapons, isn't an approach that is likely to be taken seriously by the people being screamed at.

I see the US more like a brother who got hooked on drugs. I'll always love him, but I'll still smack him upside the head and tell him when he's being an idiot.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Sorry Strangerland, pussyfooting around an insane regime like North Korea will get you nowhere fast. Your appeal for a weak response would have seen Kennedy fold under pressure from Castro and the Soviets during the Cuban Missile Crises.

Thats why most of the free world is more than happy to have the United States play the thankless role as worlds policeman. For almost 75 years it has played the role responsibly and with backbone.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I see the US more like a brother who got hooked on drugs.

that brother who is the richest, most powerful and successful country in history? That brother??

no, you don’t hate the United States at all...

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Sorry Strangerland, pussyfooting around an insane regime like North Korea will get you nowhere fast.

I agree. I'm not sure why you're bringing it up here though, as pussyfooting around them isn't something I've suggested.

Is this another one of those times where you tried to guess what I'm doing using logic? Because you're once again showing that logic isn't your strong point.

that brother who is the richest, most powerful and successful country in history?

Rich people can afford more drugs.
