Come on now, it's gonna still be oil. Nigeria, Latin America, not to mention the Middle East, one can pretty much predict where the next wars will be, just check where the oil fields are!

Fresh Water and Food.

Look at the palestine/israel region and check where the water is coming from. Who controls the water-supply will control the region.

Judging by the irate housewives in my neighborhood supermarket on Friday, I'd say food. Apparently, Japanese consumers have been sent into a panic over rising prices for foodstuffs and ingredients like cooking oil, etc, and they are freaking out. Heaven help us all if there is ever another rice shortage like the one in the mid-1990s.

Economic disparities concern me the most. In every country, the rich are getting richer and the gap between them and the poor is getting greater. That can only cause dissatisfaction and who knows what the boiling point is. In France last year, we saw all those riots in the suburbs brought on by poverty and high unemployment among the immigrant communities. That could happen in any city.

"In every country, the rich are getting richer and the gap between them and the poor is getting greater. That can only cause dissatisfaction and who knows what the boiling point is. "

Hardly a compelling argument when the rise in incomes achieved by an entrepreneurial class and a solid middle class can lift an entire nation out of the kind of grinding poverty that has disappeared from large parts of S America and India, making 'rich' and 'poor' relative terms.

The "dissatisfaction" you speak of emanates largely from the Left - a sizeable portion of which is often very "international" in its outlook and comparisons and otherwise often openly disdainful of their own country: "We need to be more like Venezuela!" "Why can't we be like Sweden?" These people aren't for equality so much as they can not tolerate what they feel is "inequality."

"In France last year, we saw all those riots in the suburbs brought on by poverty and high unemployment among the immigrant communities. That could happen in any city."

But it doesn't happen in just any city. We are prevented by speech codes, political correctness and in certain countries by a kind of paternalistic "liberalism" born of white guilt and institutional media bias from having any serious discussion on such matters. This creates for some the absurd notion that revolt/revolution is imminent anywhere that "income disparity" is present.

Wars are going on in iraq, somalia, afghanistan and in african nations. Why wars in iraq, afghanistan because of many reasons. I think JT readers have told all the reasons many times.

Africa there also many wars between ruling governments and rebel factions for power.

The main reason is gets the power of rule over the land.

Food, water, land, economic disparities and ideologies also may add more reasons to the wars going on.

Warring nations should realise their foolishness which only obstruct progress and prosperity to come in. Only peace can bring true prosperity, progress and other ideal values.

This poll needs an all-of-the-above choice.

There will be no peace and prosperity in a world of 9 billion people in a few decades-mostly conflict and misery. Scientists, engineers, political and religious leaders...they do not have anywhere near enough answers for the problems this world faces.

So I guess we should just stop worrying about it and go get drunk.

IMHO, Wars are always about ideology or/and ideology used as a cover-up and a pretext for the resource or economics gains through the war.

There should have been a choice for "Nonsensical Preemptive". haha

There aren't going to be any more wars. The Organians are going to put a stop to this madness.

The next big war, if there is to be one, will be between China and the United States. The reasons will encompass Food, Oil, Ideology, and Water. Economic disparty probably won't be as big an issue by then. While governments can go head to head on many issues from economic to military, they are quite capable of co-existing even as strategic enemies. That is, if cool heads prevail. In the case of China, with the rampant frothing-at-the-mouth Nationalism that the world has seen among the youth, the CCP may end being forced into an action just to avoid being destroyed by the masses. I think many of us realize this, we just don't like thinking about it. I sure don't.

"The next big war... will be between China and the United States."

What?! A war between the world's biggest producer of cheap goods and their best customer? I don't think so.

"What?! A war between the world's biggest producer of cheap goods and their best customer? I don't think so."

Things change. Circumstances change. They always have, they always will. And when it does who are the most likely combatants than the two countries that are declared strategic adversaries and train with each other in mind as the enemy...even while one produces the world's cheapest goods and the other is it's best customer.

We are already in the middle of the next world war. But unlike during the Cold War, when the free nations recognized and studied the ideology of communism, we now pretend that islam is a "religion of peace" and the islamists are just misunderstanders.

If we had responded to communism that way, we would all live in Soviet vassal state now, in a world-wide worker`s paradise.

Maybe it's already started. I know it's going to involve Israel.

It will be over food and water. I personally believe that, with the higher gas and oil prices, someone somewhere in the world will get wise, and create a fuel (or discover/rediscover one) that is basically cheap or cheap to use, and cleaner than oil.

Taunts on the internets.

The next big war, if there is to be one, will be between China and the United States.

Yep, China keeps going up while the US keeps going down (fast). There is no way the US will just let China surpass them. But they will never directly attack them. They will, as usual, use deception to get China to attack first, or make it look like they are. They might even do a false flag to get Japan and China to fight each other and then the US will come to the rescue.

One reason for the Iraq invasion was probably to stop China from getting its oil. China is looking at African countries for oil, I guess they will be next. Yugoslavia had rich gold deposits, look at who is mining it now. Recent wars seemed to be about getting their hands on important resources (theft) as well as imposing a Rothschild-controlled banking system (more theft).

You gotta be kidding me...seems like most people can't read correctly...

It asks about the NEXT WARS not the current ones.... the current ones are about ideology and oil. Although i sometimes tend to agree that all wars since the dawn of communal societies with cognitive abilities have been about ideology, the truth is, the next wars will not be fought over oil (there will be none) nor will they be fought over ideology (hunger and a need to survive is beyond ideology) it'll be about food...

sabiwabi - "China keeps going up"

Inflation and pollution in China, yeah.

"while the US keeps going down"

You mean this little slowdown? Hey, we like to put on the brakes every once in a while.

The next wars will be fought over this planet with various alien races; the Independence Day aliens who got their butts kicked with Jeff Goldblum's silly computer virus and are looking for revenge; those spider-like things in Starship Troopers who got their butts kicked on their home planet and are also looking for revenge; the Martians who got their butts kicked with grandma's music, ET, who is miffed by Drew Barrymore's refusal to date him...

"while the US keeps going down" You mean this little slowdown?

Yes, thats what they like to call it to avoid total panic. But what is just around the corner is an economic disaster that will make the great depression of 80 years ago look like a picnic. WWII help the US get out of that depression, I wonder how they'll get out of this one.

Well considering that we are China's best export customer and they still haven't built a domsetic economy strong enough to grow without an export market, guess what's going to happen to China if the US goes into a "Great Depression" as you describe? So much for "China keeps going up".

Where's the choice for "All of the above"?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Just ask the Americans, i am sure they will find something to fight about.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The next wars will be fought for the same reasons as all past wars - human stupidity and cupidity.

Well considering that we are China's best export customer

You are not China's only customer. They will find other customers to compensate for your decline. Anyway, the bully will never let that happen.

The world's economies are interconnected. You can't have a "Great Depression" in the United States and not have one in Europe or Asia. And who is the bully? China? I agree.
