In Tokyo, Jami Jami Burger in Machida City--YUM!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

McD's has become the safest and MosBurger has become the worst now that they openly choose and support Fukushima vegetables as much as possible.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

In-N-Out!!

Their meat is never frozen, their veggies are fresh, lettuce hand-peeled, friendly staff...simple menu...just good good stuff!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Prefer steak. Don't need the buns!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

the opposite pole of junk-food-hamburger is pure heavenly japanese food. all cultures in this world have fast-cheap-food, but the winner at the crappiest end is USA-style junk food, mcdonalds and all their hamburger copycats. enjoy! itadakimasu!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

hmmm. @It""S ME: Burger=Junk Food, 300 Yen or 2000 Yen. Both are cheap. Doesn't mean I don't eat them of course...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ooops, I meant First Kitchen.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can't believe more people didn't vote for Best Kitchen. They have the best bacon/egg cheeseburger around.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Captn. Kangaroo in Umeda both make mean burgers! Though the place is a cesspool with disgusting, sticky tables and smelly bathrooms!

No love for Freshness Burger??

0 ( +1 / -1 )

DentShop.

Exactly because it is a thread about Junk Food and NOT high-end Burger restaurants. You know Apples and Oranges.

Or a Burger that costs 300Yen at most vs one that will set you back 1200+Yen.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Wow It''s Me - you certainly are precious, especially in a thread about junk food.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

This topic is about Hamburger Chains/Franchises in japan and not local Hamburger Joints here or overseas. Neither is it about a place where you get the Burger that suits your liking the best.

For Chains I still say Zat's or Village Vanguard here beats all the ones listed above. Can I get better or more to my preferences = Dead Easy.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

haha. who gave the_sheriff a thumbs down? Brozers is right up there for the best burger in Japan, let alone Tokyo. Gotham Grill in Ebisu fantastic too. None of the chains have ANYTHING on those two places.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Any other unpretentious posters know more about Osaka?

I do - not sure if I fit your criteria though.

Check out Cafe Heaven in Fukushima, crazy brugers going on at Any's Burger in Uehonmachi, Bon Hamburger aint worth the trip, Outback in Umeda does a good lunchtime burger (but the steak sanga is much better) and if you feel adventurous, or get hungry on the way to the airport - pop into Hale'aina in Izumi Sano. The burgers are very decent and the boss is an absolute dude. Hope this helps.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@smithinjapan Tin's Hall is in Tennoji; Captain Kangaroo is in Umeda, near Kitashinchi. There is also a Kua Aina in Namba Parks. Any other unpretentious posters know more about Osaka? Please don't let MOS win this poll, people!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Sorry, but mine are the best! haha. From the shape to the overall taste, they simply rock (used to work at a restaurant for years growing up). Problem is, to make them well and get some good buns requires a huge amount of cost for the ingredients, and then a BBQ is best to cook them on.

As to the restaurants above, while I'm not the biggest fast food chain I'd say Wendy's, with BK a close second. Of Japanese chains I think MOS takes the cake. The results of this survey will be skewed because Wendy's and BK have been gone from Japan for a while, with both just recently starting up again (and BK was never widespread to begin with). I'm pretty sure that out of McD's and MOS 90% or so would prefer the latter (and rightly so). First Kitchen and Lotteria are garbage (even moreso than regular fast-food), and the 'other' places will be limited to region, if not single shops like DentShop mentions.

DentShop: Where is that shop in Osaka? I'd LOVE to go check it out. Haven't stomped around the city in a while, but my guess is in Shinsaibashi?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

boo

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

MOS Burger! Two cheeseburgers, one Ginger Ale, one cigarette, perfect.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

What they serve at most chains are pale imitaions of what hamburgers are supposed to be. My favorites are the hamburger specialty shops like Fire House (near Korakuen), Brozers (in Ningyo-cho) and Franklin Ave. (in Gotanda).

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

an original, freshly grilled mean burger at Tin's

The burgers are frozen there dude. You obviously have no palate or are already wasted by the time the burger finally arrives.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

guys... this poll is about "what's YOUR favorite" not what is "THE best".. -_- so, to each his own :-)

0 ( +2 / -2 )

@DentedShop Take your business down the street to McDouche if you want better lighting, you true burger lover, you! I'll take an original, freshly grilled mean burger at Tin's anytime over the fast food competiton!

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

To be honest I have more than one. In no particular order, Burger King, Wendys, Sonics, Good Times, Carls Jr.... and of course my own home cooked cheese burgers.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Moss burger.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Not fast food, but Tin's Hall in Tennoji make mean burgers

When you say "mean", I take it you meant like the dictionary states - nasty, unpleasant and loathsome.

I am a true burger lover and Tins gets a 3/10. The place is dark so that you cant see what you are getting. Their pizza is ok, but the burger needs serious help.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

As far as the joints on the list, MOS is best IMHO. Heck, they even have onion rings!

Biggest shocker to me is not that Lotteria is on the list, but that some actually voted for it!

I have not had In n Out or Jack in the Box in years, so its hard for me to compare to others. But I don't think they have anything on MOS anyway.

I think I might go get a spicy MOS cheeseburger tonight!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Pukey, Mos Burger makes a lot of meatless burgers.

Hardees made great charcoal burgers on long island.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Mos burger is very tasty. But volume is kind of small. A little over-priced and takes way too long. But that is what makes them fresh. Wendy's was good. Burger King is King for me here. But IN-N-Out is the best. That is what we need in Japan. An IN-N-Out. It is difficult to understand why First (Worst) kitchen and Loteria were even mentioned. KFC and McDonald's awful. Yuck. Sometimes the McDonald's fries are old way before you get them.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Anyone try McD's Grand Canyon burger yet?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Mountain Ocean Sun for the win.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I voted Other (Freshness Burger). They're the only who can be bothered to make vegetarian burgers (at least I hope they are). They do an avocado and tofu one and a bean burger. They used to do a portobello mushroom burger. And they're all delicious.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Try asking in Omotesando.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

A&W FTW

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Kua Aina have chicken avacado sandwichs i had one the other day, the menu isnt fake at all.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Kua'Aina has a fake menu. I asked for a chicken avocado sandwich from the menu board in Omotesando, and the girl replied to me in perfect English, "We never have that, as that menu is fake!" I left.

Mos Burger has the best fries, but beware of removing the paper wrapping from the sando you get. It will squirt clear across the room and do some damage.

McD's French Fries taste like pure grease and no potato.

Burger King tastes the best.

Lotteria should go back to Korea.

First Kitchen should be aborted.

I recommended white castle because you can eat like a million of them and support acne products.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

As far as I know, Mos is much better. But, I've never eaten at Wendy's and First Kitchen.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Had the Foie Gras burger from Wendy's on the weekend. Very good taste. But don't take the paper bag off because it will fall to pieces. Not sure I'd pay 1250 yen everyday for a burger, but once in a while for damn good taste.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Wife's and then In-N-Out.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

steak n' shake

big man's shrimp sandwich is the shizzzit

mos burger

grinders sandwich from nyc

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

In-N-Out, hands down.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

"In-n-Out" All the way! "Carl's Jr." Would be my second favorite.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

I voted for MOS, but if Whataburger comes to Japan, I will be the first convert.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Eat a burger at "Steers". See if you can ever again stomach the thin microwaved monstrositites that most "hamburger" places serve up. Thick, juicy and they actually taste of steak (unlike the other burgers which taste of... well, to be generous, cardboard).

I make my own burgers at home and my standard is always to measure any burger against my own. Steers is the only place that makes burgers better than I can make at home, and for about 300 yen for a burger and chips they're amazingly good value. Combini burger price, home-made quality.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Exactly, IT''SME. I like the ones from Bikkuri Donkey best.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Why aren't big franchises like "Zat's Burgers", "Village Vanguard", "Freshness Burger", etc included in the Poll?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The BEST in Osaka by a mile. If you have had better in Osaka please let me know.

Not fast food, but Tin's Hall in Tennoji and Captn. Kangaroo in Umeda both make mean burgers! A burger, fries and beer will only set you back 円1000!

Way better deal than any fast food joint!

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Wendys and Mos head to head! A race, yeah!

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

I like my Burgers done the way we do them back home.

Had some great burgers in my travels and now also often make Tofu, Teriyaki Chicken, Iwashi(Sardine) and more burgers. Wouldn't say that US Burgers are my favourites either.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

My own hamburgers rule.

150 grams of beef, cooked med.rare, minimal salt, ground black pepper, garlic chips, a slice of tomato, avocado and red onion, on a toasted whole wheat English Muffin.

Baked Ore-Ida home fries, sea salt, malt vinegar.

I have just figured out my dinner menu!

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

I adore my wife's burger. The most delicious and most appetizing burger in the world!

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Buy Japanese. Nobody wants to say bye to Japanese companies.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

same as zichi here as well. they're all nasty !

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Kua'Aina burgers and sandwiches

The BEST in Osaka by a mile. If you have had better in Osaka please let me know. I have tried a lot of burgers in this city but Kua'Aina still reign supreme.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Same as zichi.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Kua'Aina burgers and sandwiches and Journal Standard J.S. Burgers out do the others on the list.

There are many decent places and one in particular called Jimmy Jammy or simillar in Machida are spectacular.

Went to Wendy's in Omotesando yesterday but found everything to be soggy and not as i remembered, even the chilli cheese fries were watery & soggy, farily dissapointed but they were hell a busy and once things get down to normal their food might improve as their slogan is something about quality. Quality is our recipe or something.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Man Wendy's in the lead. I love Wendy's but voted Mos Burger though. We have one Mos Burger few blocks away here. Thing i love about Mos Burger and Wendy's, they'll start cooking the stuff right there in front of you. Nothing waiting in stacks.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

I don't like junk food, but McDonalds offers Happy meal, and without fries! When I buy her, it it usually combination of hamburger( she eats only the meat, anyways) sweet corn and yasai seikatsu( vegetable juice, no salt, sugar , conservants added).

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

In Japan, I really love having a Mos Burger because there's nothing quite like them anywhere else.

In the US? The bison burgers at Ted's Montana Grills are nothing short of incredible.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Wendy's leading the pack, I see. I prefer Burger King, then Wendy's.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

The only decent hamburger I have ever had, apart from a home made one, was at the Fountain Restaurant in Fortnum and Mason's in London. It was amazing. Very expensive, but worth it. The burger was good quality lean steak and the bun was toasted - NOT microwaved.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

When sober: Wendy's When not sober: In-N-Out

1 ( +4 / -3 )

I read somewhere Wendy's is coming back to Japan. Is that right?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

See story in Executive Impact section.

Tsubame Grill.

I see McD's has 1 out of 16 votes, heh heh, they'll continue of course to outsell all the others this year too.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

White Castle
