Who do you think will win the U.S. presidential election on Nov 8?

I wrote in a vote.

Just couldn't get my head around voting FOR someone just because I'm AGAINST the others. Both major party candidates should go to jail for a few years, at least.

I voted for Gary Johnson, even tho my dude is not gonna win, my conscience is clear that I didn't vote for either turd.

Agreed. The Republicans have always been more passionate and disciplined about voting than the Democrats. If a lot of Democrats feel Hillary has the election in the bag then a good portion of them might not bother to take the time to vote.

The polls would have you believe it's probably Hillary, but polling is inexact. It's a guestimation based on interpretation of data. Trump supporters may very well get out there in greater force than Hillary supporters, meaning that even though Hillary has consistently polled better, Trump would still win.

The only good thing about her recent drop in the polls, is that it should take away from that feeling of certainty by so many Hillary supporters, with the worry that Trump could win hopefully getting them out there to vote. A huge lead could lead to complacency, in turn leading to a loss. A smaller lead will (hopefully) take away much of that complacency.

The Japanese media has already decided that Clinton will win and, although they may well be right, I'd love to see the looks on their faces if Trump pulls it off. Not likely? Well, neither was a Brexit vote or indeed a Conservative landslide in the last British election. Maybe we shouldn't put so much faith in the polls, right...?

And that is what is wrong with our so called democracy! It is the illusion that one person can lead over 300 million people.

He's got a trial upcoming for child-rape. By the republican standard of proof, that means he's guilty. If you disagree, then you need to stop saying Hillary is guilty of email crimes. Gotta pick one, either being accused is guilty, or it's not, can't have it one way for one party and another way for the other party.

US politics is a matter of deep Japanese concern. If you don't get that, you don't get anything.

If you want that to change, then you should support Japan and Europe stepping up and policing their respective spheres as well as enforcing the freedom of the seas -- for trade. Until then, because US power does those two things, US domestic politics will appear in Japanese media, German media, and all the media is nations who do not provide for the common defense.

I'm hoping that Clinton will win but I'm amazed at how many deplorables there are in USA and I'm not placing any bets. I wonder whether there'll be a November surprise just before the election and who it will be for.

I don't have a thought on which one will win - too close to tell right now.

I have to say I hope Clinton will win. I have a faith in the American people that they are smart enough to see through Trump, and that they are non-bigoted enough to not choose a bigot like Trump. I have faith that for all their frustration with the system, they will be able to realize that the change they want won't come through either Trump or Clinton this time, and will work towards getting that change four years from now, rather than blowing up the system, the US, and the world, by voting Trump.

I have faith, but it's not absolute. These are the same people that voted Bush a second time, after the Iraq debacle.

Some Clinton supporters are right to criticise Trump for his lack of political experience, his campaigning approach via sensationalism and his smug, self centred attitude. I could never support Trump.

But then some Trump supporters are also right to criticise Clinton's past misdemeanours. Although it is certainly right that the FBI were well out of line to do what they have done regarding the Weiner emails, it does bring into question whether Clinton is trustworthy - which is one reason why the FBI should have held their tongues until they were sure of what they had.

Generally speaking, however, this has been the dirtiest, slimiest political contest I've seen for many a year and I believe that neither of them are worthy of leadership. If anything they are proof positive both of the real reason for voter apathy in the US and of the principle expounded by Douglas Adams in the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy:

Those who desire power should never be allowed to wield it.

Whoever is President in the USA affects Japan greatly. That is why it is news in Japan Today. Think, people, please...make the connection. It is hardly obscure.

Well, and while you are quite correct here, sadly the upcoming erection will affect Japan, one way or another, both politically and economically as well.

With Hillary, (and Trump as well) Abe is going to be forced to attempt to push HER into backing off a campaign promise of dumping the TPP, otherwise he ends up with egg all over his face for pushing it through here. He should have waited on debating it until AFTER the election and after discussions with the new president, but he just had to have his way.

With Trump, Abe faces an uncertain future with the current US-Japan security treaty, and issues regarding trade as well.

However I for one am willing to bet that behind it all Abe is praying for a Trump win. It gives him a prime opportunity to push through all the constitutional changes he wants, playing on and playing up, fears of uncertainty about security in the region and recreating the JSDF into a full fledged Japanese military.

While I prefer neither, at least with Hillary we get a known politician and all the baggage she brings with that! Here's to hoping she wins.

Whoever wins is going to kill an awful lot of people all over the world in the next few years. Does it really matter which one it is?

I don't see any winners in this election.

Only losers will vote for Trump. Hillary will be a fine President although she is clearly not the best of campaigners. The fact that Trump has not just given up at this point is a sign of how dumbed down the Fox News types have become over the years. The vote is not between democrat and republican, it is between sanity and insanity. The republican party is the party of non-reality, it has been for decades. Trump just makes it obvious to all now.

The question should be, "Who do you think will be the loser the presidential election in the US? " The American people will be the losers, of course! If Clinton is elected, it will be the end of the US as we know it. If Trump is elected, it will be the end of the world as we know it. I don't see any winners in this election.

With all the new Clinton scandals, she's going down fast. Americans are fed up with both parties, the establishment politicians. That is why Trump is the republican nominee. Very simple. We are totally fed up.
