quote of the day

70% of our guests are foreigners. Word is spreading on the internet and other media that they can communicate with Japanese guests or enjoy Japanese culture at our hotel.

Yet to stay in one. Been here 13 years and never have. No excuse.

One day though.

Imagine that! Us uncultured foreigners actually being able to communicate with Japanese and actually appreciate the subtleties of the culture.

Snoring salarymen, blaring TVs, they can be noisy places to sleep unless you've had a few drinks. Also, with the increase in cheap hostels they aren't quite as attractive as they used to be.

never seen the appeal of sleeping in a box....unless you really down on money but even then manga kissa has better value

I guess some tourists will be doing it for a zany, only-in-Japan experience.

I don't think a capsule hotel is a good place to enjoy what I think of as "Japanese culture", but that expression just seems to mean whatever people want it to mean.

The capsule hotel I stay at has huge baths, plenty of bath supplies, lounges, massage, and a big eating lounge. The capsule is the only small place but it's comfortable and easy to fall asleep in while watching TV. Just over 3,000 yen and well worth it.

The word is not spreading man.

On the other hand I have heard of people being asked to leave a capsule hotel because they have a tattoo.

Had to crash a few times in capsules after missing trains. I could see how it would be an interesting experience for a foreigner who is a tourist in Japan and never experienced such a thing. Not sure I would do it more than once (unless out of necessity)

As Speed says if one uses the bath and all the features it is a pretty good deal for a rack and a bath
