I wish you LDP A-Holes would slash taxes on people so we could afford those annual 5 scallops.
Idiot.

would love to, just lower the prices ;)

Certainly - but as others indicated they are way overpriced.
Used to buy 1 pack a week years ago at the supermarket for about ¥500 - kind of little treat.
Then the Chinese market opened up and sucked up a majority of the scallops at much higher prices.
Citizens here were left with more miserable offerings - at inflated prices - or you could spend 3 - 6 times what you previously paid.
Now the Chinese have pulled the plug and producers want us to pay those exorbitant prices to keep them afloat.
Didn't think about local consumers when the dosh was rolling in.

Appeal to the sentiments of fighting bullies, be bold in your actions, sentiments and words. Freedom scallops, whatever, just don’t stay uncommitted, generic and meek.
Will eat five scallops a week if you do Mr Fisheries!

Buy five get one free.

They made these statements for milk, eggs, beer, and so on before. Like someone else said, fix the policies causing these issues instead of begging people to do you a favor.
janky prices on an item? Have too much and need the average person to help cushion the blow? Make it worth their while and they will naturally.

Send them to me and I'll gladly try to help you out.

You reap what you sow.
I hope locals don't buy them either, unless they drop the prices.

Someday Japan will clue into the fact that "wishing", "urging", "encouraging" etc. people to do this and that is...useless.

Zero tax on food, meds etc., and watch people buy.

Agree 100%. Japan more than ever needs a VAT system.
